00:03 This video was recently captured on the moon, in an area no spacecraft has ever touched down.
00:09 In a momentous achievement for the country, the Indian Space Research Organization's Chandrayaan-3 lander
00:14 successfully made a soft landing on the moon.
00:17 This comes just days after Russia's lunar lander smashed into the moon attempting to do the same.
00:22 And this was the moment ISRO's Pragyan lunar rover exited the lander module and took its first cruise.
00:28 The rover is much smaller than Perseverance, the one NASA currently has rolling around Mars.
00:32 That one is around the size of an SUV.
00:35 Meanwhile, Pragyan only weighs around 60 pounds.
00:37 The rover will be conducting a series of experiments while moving around the moon's southern pole.
00:41 But it will also be looking for H2O as the area is believed to have water, though its mission will be short-lived.
00:46 It's only expected to conduct those experiments for one lunar day, or the equivalent of two weeks here on Earth.
00:52 During that time, it will be analyzing lunar soil and conducting spectrometer analysis of the mineral deposits within.
