Volvo C40 Recharge Review By Vedant Jouhari | The Volvo C40 is, in essence, the coupe-SUV version of the XC40 Recharge. You can consider the C40 Recharge as the trendier and edgier version of the electric Volvo XC40, a fact made evident by the new EV's design.

The Volvo C40 Recharge draws power from a large 78kWh battery pack that offers a range of 530 kilometres on a single charge. The on-board 11kW charger takes 6-7 hours to charge the battery pack to capacity. Fast charging from 10-80 per cent with a 150kW DC charger takes 27 minutes.

00:00 Welcome to Dice Park, my name is Vedant Johari and today we are in the all new Volvo C40
00:09 Recharge, their all electric version of the XC40.
00:20 So starting off with the front end, we get all LED lights, an LED headlamp, LED fog lamp,
00:27 it features a body coloured cover which has the Volvo badging on it and on the Volvo badging
00:34 we see a camera and behind the camera we have the ADAS sensors for the safety reasons in
00:41 the car.
00:42 On the hood of the car we have these hood lines which really enhance the sportiness
00:47 and gives the car a very aggressive look to it.
00:51 The C40 Recharge is a good car to have fun on your drives, on your Sunday drives and
00:57 everything as it has performance and it has comfort.
01:00 So coming to the side of the car we see body cladding and as well as that there are no
01:07 body lines, it's a very simple, plain, neat silhouette that we see.
01:17 We also see a sort of dual tone finish on the car, on the roof it's not really black,
01:23 it's a darkened glass roof, the roof line slopes down into a roof mounted spoiler and
01:30 below the spoiler we have a secondary spoiler, the brake lights right underneath that and
01:34 the brake lights don't just end there, they extend all the way up until the roof line
01:39 giving it a very nice, a very classy feature on the car.
01:44 So coming to the wheels, the C40 Recharge in the front features 235 and at the back
01:52 features 255.
01:53 Front and back end are 19-inch wheels.
01:57 The reason for the 235 and 255 split is that power ratio is, I mean being an all-wheel
02:05 drive would normally be a 50-50 but here it's a 40 in the front and a 60 in the back.
02:12 The motor of the C40 Recharge produces an astonishing 408 horsepower and 660 Newton
02:21 meters.
02:22 When you step on it you can really, really feel the power kicking in as there's no lag,
02:26 no wastage of power as it's an all-electric.
02:30 So with these power figures, the car can sprint from 0 to 100 in 4.7 seconds.
02:36 That for an on-road city car is absolutely amazing.
02:42 Now coming to the interiors of the car, what you can see is an all-black finish with piano
02:54 black and brushed aluminium inserts throughout which really adds a touch of classiness, a
03:00 touch of luxury into the car.
03:03 We see the brushed aluminium on the AC vents, on the steering wheel and various other places
03:08 around the car and the piano black also found in the same places as the brushed aluminium
03:14 giving it a nice contrast and really making it stand out when you're inside the car.
03:21 The infotainment system is a 9-inch infotainment system and the dash is also a digital dash,
03:28 all digital display in the car.
03:29 The dash of the car has a very soft touch to it.
03:34 It is a plastic finish but it definitely has a much better tactile feeling than how plastic
03:41 does.
03:42 A very interesting feature that we see is on the passenger side, design is inspired
03:47 by the snow-capped mountains in northern Sweden.
03:51 In broad daylight, it's not very visible but as it gets darker, the design really stands
03:59 out.
04:00 It's a nice unique touch that Volvo has done on the C40 Recharge.
04:03 So we have a panoramic sunroof that has no shade but surprisingly, it doesn't bother
04:10 anyone inside the car as it is UV protected and infrared protected, meaning the harsh
04:18 sun rays, the sunlight doesn't interfere with the passengers inside the car and the
04:25 sunroof also gives the car a very roomy feel.
04:29 It doesn't make it feel claustrophobic.
04:31 You feel like you have a lot of space inside the car.
04:34 Now, normally in most luxury cars, what we see is all leather interiors but here in the
04:40 Volvo C40, we find not even an iota of leather.
04:44 Instead, it's completely vegan.
04:47 It's made up of plastic bottles, forest waste and wine cocks which is not, which is again,
04:56 a feature not seen in any other vehicle.
04:57 So these three materials give the Volvo C40 Recharge a so-called vegan interior and the
05:04 flow mats as well are made out, each flow mat in fact is made out of 71 plastic bottles.
05:10 On the sides also, soft touch material.
05:13 The seats also are very, very comfortable.
05:16 I mean, Volvo is known for its comfort and its safety features.
05:26 Now, coming to the safety features of the C40 Recharge, Volvo is at the top of the game
05:30 in safety so it definitely doesn't disappoint.
05:34 It has five cameras, three radars, more than 12 sensors on the exterior giving it a much
05:42 more safer experience as not only the driver but the car is also aware of its surroundings
05:47 of the others on the road.
05:49 It does give you warning signs and warning alerts to actually alert the driver in case
05:54 of an obstacle or in case there's something on the road.
05:58 Furthermore, the C40 Recharge also has ADAS and some of the ADAS features are adaptive
06:05 cruise control, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, active braking and a lot
06:12 more.
06:13 On top of that, this car gets single pedal drive which is basically when you shut off
06:18 the throttle, the car automatically starts braking by itself.
06:22 In other vehicles, when that's seen, the brake lights don't come on but here in the Volvo,
06:27 the moment you're off the throttle and the car automatically brakes, the brake lights
06:31 also come on.
06:32 Now, in terms of convenience as this would normally be opted as a family car or something,
06:39 it comes with pretty ample storage space.
06:41 At the back, we have 413 litres of boot space.
06:45 In the front, we have 31 litres.
06:48 All around the car, we have cup holders and various places to store our stuff and also,
06:54 we have a centre console over here which does have storage space.
06:58 This car is electric so it is aimed to be eco-friendly so why would you want to throw
07:03 out your waste or anything when you can just integrate a dustbin over here.
07:07 All in all, the Volvo C40 Recharge is built around performance, comfort and drivability
07:16 making it almost the ideal car to own in the newer generation.
07:23 The C40 Recharge is set to launch on September 4th with booking set to start on the 5th of
07:29 September.
07:30 Deliveries will take place later on in the month.
07:33 This car will also be available in 6 colour options and if you guys have any further questions,
