00:50 Day 20 inside session like we mentioned let's start off as we always do talking a little bit about attendance and we got to see
00:57 A lot again, you guys know see my notebook a lot of pages on here a lot of fun stuff that we saw
01:02 Start before attendance as Steve Gleason was in attendance
01:05 So one of the things that I've picked up on and that we kind of notice is that?
01:08 Saints are bringing a lot of legends in you know here and there during their practices
01:12 Practices today with Steve Gleason the other day was Lance Moore. They've had Jonathan Villman the building
01:17 Obviously drew was there at some point, you know, just legends of the game Saints greats that have been here
01:24 So I think that's pretty cool that they do that
01:26 But you know talking about practice attendance. The first one we'll start with is Rashid Shaheed. He was returning to practice today
01:33 Taking part in stretch and individual drills up to a point
01:37 So he's taking some swing passes out to the left, you know during some individual drills with the wide receivers
01:42 Then that was it for him. So good sign seeing him. He's coming back from that groin injury
01:47 Welcome sight and now as far as who wasn't there
01:50 Wow, Marshall Lattimore was not now. Here's the thing to know about Marshall Lattimore according to Dennis Allen, of course
01:57 There's nothing significant going on with his knee, but they're treating his knee with some medication
02:01 Making sure that he rests up a little bit, you know again nothing significant again
02:05 We kind of talked about this that the plan probably should be to shut him down a little bit
02:09 But making sure that he's gonna be right before the season starts
02:12 So I wouldn't expect to see him anymore
02:14 For the rest of training camp, obviously when we get into week one, that's when we really pay attention and that's when it seems matter
02:20 So that's a big one that was missing other than that
02:24 You know the usual suspects that we've come to to expect taste and Hill oblique strain tray Quan Smith hadn't seen him since day nine
02:31 That's with a groin
02:33 We talked about Lattimore Kirk Merritt also with that hamstring. It seems that he's having being bothered by that again
02:40 Not a pretty good look for him on the final roster outlook
02:42 We'll see what happens Darrell Williams has been out of practice Brian Connolly with this significant knee injury
02:47 Landon young with the MCL injury Jesse James with the groin hadn't seen him state since day 12 and then Lynn Bowden jr
02:54 hasn't been on the field to for undisclosed reasons which is giving way for guys like
02:57 Shaq Davis and John Trey Kirkland to make a name for themselves. We'll get into that a little bit more in a bit
03:03 Calvin Throckmorton was there right before stretching he went off again. It's part of the rehab process
03:09 He had his ribs during Sunday's game against the Chargers. So, you know, it's uh, one of those things where it happens
03:16 You know, Kim Jordan came back Ryan Ramchick. They had better rest days. AT Perry is back
03:20 He had an illness the day before that he was dealing with so those types of things happen
03:25 But look going in a game against the Texans. I doubt the starters are gonna play. We've talked to DeMario Davis
03:30 He's not gonna play in such on Sunday
03:33 We weren't expecting that and of course Dennis Allen kind of hinted that but look the Texans are gonna roll out
03:38 CJ Straub, we'll see how that kind of works. I would expect that you get some
03:42 Pretty big decent guys that are going to be in the lineup
03:46 I would expect to see guys like Trevor pinning playing again
03:49 We've talked about it very similar to probably what we saw against the Chargers
03:52 That's what we can expect here against the Texans for the preseason finale, which again?
03:57 Oh, by the way nationally televised broadcast on Fox
04:00 You're gonna be able to tune into it and they've had the past two on NFL Network
04:03 So kind of crazy how that's all worked out but going to today
04:08 Defense look really strong, you know, we'll get into that a little bit more but Michael Thomas super active today
04:14 There's been a lot said about Michael Thomas. Let's just start there
04:18 And look you guys if you've been looking at the recaps
04:22 You've been listening in to the guys who've been plugged in since day one
04:26 All these things have seen him since you know back in minicamp
04:29 Mike looks good. He's on the rise
04:32 He's getting we talked about how he's getting in and out of his breaks real easily cuts look good
04:37 I
04:39'm not telling you and I think this is where things are blown up is we're not expecting Mike to be
04:43 2018 Mike right? It's just not gonna happen, but I still think he can be a super effective receiver in this guy in this offense
04:51 And so look I think it's not under out of the realm of possibilities that they have to
04:55 1,000 yard receivers when it's all said and done a lot of a's guy that I think they're gonna feed him a lot
04:59 But Michael Thomas super active today
05:01 He caught the first three passes in seven on seven all three quarterbacks went five of five
05:06 You know with it and take that with a grain of salt, you know, but it was really interesting seeing that
05:11 Another thing to point out, you know
05:14 We talked about it and again go to safe stop media all the formations all the details are on there
05:20 If you want to know every single thing that happened at practice in great detail
05:24 You're not gonna find it more thorough
05:27 Right up than what I have. I'm just gonna be honest with you and you know, that's not gloating or anything
05:33 But I make sure to make it a point that you feel like you were at training camp practices and that you know
05:37 Everything that we know to kind of help now is it in the full context of everything we see probably not you know in some
05:44 Aspects but gives you the gist of who's doing well, who's not doing so well who's doing this who's doing that?
05:49 That's what you would come to expect right? And so, you know, we talked about lineups again
05:55 I wrote about it the other day, but you know, Trevor pinning James Hurst Eric McCoy
05:59 Cesar we Ruiz and Ryan Ramchick that should be your starting offensive line for this first week at least
06:05 Anders Pete's been on the second team left guard Nick Saldaverri is playing right guard second team, you know storm Norton's right tackle
06:12 He's the probably the the primary guy behind them. Louis kids been playing some left tackle max max Garcia's a reserve offensive lineman
06:20 He's played at center some but he also can play interior. So it's gonna be fascinating how they put this final roster together again
06:26 I think they keep nine offensive linemen will probably dedicate a little bit of a show to that
06:31 Because you know, they got to make all these moves before Tuesday and when they get here
06:36 It's gonna be really tense and tough and finding out what's gonna happen with this final roster, but I'm really excited to see it
06:42 Seven and sevens were good first team period, you know
06:46 Nothing really crazy to talk about other than Michael Thomas getting another catch and such you got another catch for Winston and car
06:54 You know when it's all over the field, it's it's it's intermediate. It's short
06:58 It's it's different routes drag routes crossers slants, you know deep ends all these types of things sideline flats
07:05 All those types of things we're seeing from Mike Thomas
07:07 That's what we want to see one of the things before we move into the other thing is is Alvin Kamara
07:11 There's a picture up on the Saints social media, but he's got all the the footballs in his hand
07:16 He's got four of them in his hand
07:18 So one of the things is they had the the machine that shoots out all the footballs and stuff. They simulate punts
07:24 and so
07:25 He ended up feeling one of the first punts and he filled another one
07:29 He ended up feeling four in a row and each time like once he had the first one
07:33 He filled second the third and fourth with one hand and he had all the football stacked up
07:38 So it's kind of crazy
07:39 He had tried to get number five wasn't able to crowd and I thought that was really interesting to see
07:44 Just crazy how good Alvin Kamara is that's the biggest takeaway when you move to the second part of team drills, you know
07:51 it was more of
07:53 You're looking at
07:54 Red zone actually that was looking at my notes. You got sevens team one then team red zone
08:00 That's kind of where you're looking at a good defensive stance, you know
08:04 I think you know, they had a couple things from the five and the three car ran in a play for a touchdown
08:09 You know good coverage by the defense but cars what they're all as reads and progressions
08:14 Then they had a Kendra Kendra Miller run for a touchdown from the three-yard line
08:20 and then they held really tight on a Michael Thomas play to the one and then also a
08:26 Shaq Davis play that the officials officially ruled as not a touchdown from the two
08:31 So good to see some of this red zone defense

08:53 He had caught a touchdown in red zone and then he had one of the craziest plays that happened in team. They were working
08:59 Right before they were doing like a full series sequence and such and so look there are some big hookups today Shaq Davis
09:07 AT Perry guys that were used to talking about Jimmy Graham was involved
09:11 he looked good again for another day and so thank you somebody that we don't talk about but
09:16 Kroll that pretty much like a it was Winston playing quarterback threw up one of those
09:21 It's kind of like a prayer night. It was a throw to the end zone trying to make something happen
09:25 So Kroll and the defender didn't see exactly who that was one thing because of our vantage point. So
09:30 Go up pass is tipped up pass broken up Kroll ends up on his backside
09:37 And and then somehow the ball comes down and he gets a touchdown out of it super crazy sequence
09:43 Really interested to see that
09:45 Again, if I had to replay on it, that would be something I'd want to see again
09:50 But look we talked about some picks today and some turnovers look
09:54 Alante Taylor had a good one when they were working in the series, you know work
09:59 It actually shut down David or Derek David Carr Derek Carr's drive, you know
10:03 He was marching his way down to the end zone throws it Alante
10:07 You know
10:08 He wanted Chris Alave in the end zone Alante makes a really good play jumps up gets the pick has some good return yardage
10:13 But they worked him out summit returner kick returner today, too
10:16 I think it's a probably I mean when he gets if he gets a pick, I think he's gone
10:21 I think he can get easily turn extra yards on a pick an interception guy super quick fast
10:27 I think maybe if you saw him in the current kick return game
10:30 That might be a way to get him involved a little bit more not saying it will but something that we see in practice
10:35 May translate may not but you know, Derek Carr got picked off there and then look you had the defense
10:42 Really played tough Peyton Turner having some sacks Malcolm wrote showing up really big and run stops
10:48 Tano passing y'all getting pressures afterwards Carl Granderson getting some sacks Isaiah Foskey Brian Berset
10:54 Starting to see some good back-to-back press practices for Isaiah Foskey. We talked about on Monday 19
11:00 Building upon yesterday. That's hopefully what you want to see
11:04 And so look I think he doesn't have as much pressure on him because he's a second round pick
11:09 You didn't overdraft him like you might have done with Marcus Davenport or Peyton Turner
11:13 But look that's the type of stuff that you want to see out of Foskey again
11:17 He was not gonna he's not gonna be that high in the pecking order to start but down the line
11:22 He's gonna be someone that might actually rely on
11:24 And then Demaria Davis made a really big stop on fourth down to stop
11:29 Derek car net offense and then Anthony Johnson made a nice little pick to close out team drills today with
11:37 Jameis Winston throwing it, you know
11:39 He made a ball that Winston probably shouldn't have thrown is intended for a T Perry deep and then it's pretty easy one for Anthony
11:46 Johnson, you know Marcus may also had a chance to pick and read in one of the periods he dropped it
11:51 And so look, you know another day more turnovers for the Saints. That's good to see
11:56 We want to keep seeing those and hopefully you see another game with some of the turnovers here in the Superdome. But look, um
12:03 No special teams kicking today that will let's you know
12:07 I gave you my thoughts on Lutz and groupie and then obviously Headley and
12:10 Blake Gilligan, but you know, we'll kind of check and see how that goes
12:14 But another good day practice big things Shaheed returning to practice on a limited basis
12:21 Same thing with Calvin Throckmorton and he was there limited basis and then Marshall and Latimer not being there
12:26 But nothing significant, but you know, look we're getting closer and closer to this thing happening
12:32 I'm so excited for
12:33 This regular season again. I see Vegas kind of sleeping on this team nine and a half wins
12:39 I took the over I and my official record predictions. I took 11 and 6. I think this team's too talented
12:45 I think this division is very bad and a lot of ways, you know
12:49 Look, I got I'm not sold on a lot of these play as the teams over here can pick flaws out of all of them
12:54 I think Tampa's at the bottom
12:56 I think
12:57 Carolina's probably next on that totem pole and in Atlanta's the one that I think has a little bit legitimate chance to do something but
13:04 Desmond Ritter Taylor Heineke that offensive line
13:08 That's a little bit more concerning than I think people are really wanting to believe but we'll see how it all plays out
13:13 Well, obviously profile a little bit more as far as the season goes and all that fun stuff
13:18 So training camp practice tomorrow 21 is in the Superdome and then again, we'll see they have one scheduled for next week
13:25 We'll see if that actually happens. They may cancel it, but we'll see what happens from there as always
