00:00 There are always eye-raising rumors about rules that govern what the royals can and can't do in public.
00:12 Whether it's posing for selfies, giving out hugs or even if royal ladies can wear nail polish, it seems there are unwritten rules for everything.
00:27 However, one rule all royals abide by has been confirmed, and it was by the Princess of Wales.
00:40 During a chat with children, she revealed one thing she is not allowed to provide the public with as a souvenir, despite it being a relatively simple request.
00:56 She made the admission earlier this year during a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, where she toured the showgrounds with some curious school children.
01:10 At one point, Kate and the kids looked around the Royal Entomological Society's garden, where they tried to identify the bugs there and drew some sketches.
01:25 Keen to secure something to remember her by, some of the children asked the princess to sign her name on their drawings.
01:38 But according to the Telegraph, she told them, "My name's Catherine. I am not allowed to write my signature, it's just one of those rules."
01:53 However, not wanting to leave the children empty-handed she drew some sketches for them, including one of a flower, another of a tree and one of a pond surrounded by some plants.
02:10 Elsewhere on the trip to the Flower Show, Kate sat down to enjoy picnic time with the children, where she was quizzed by the youngsters about royal life, to which Kate replied, "You have to work hard."
02:28 She also offered the youngsters a glimpse of Prince Louis' school life, saying he has been growing broad beans in the school garden.
02:42 However, one rule that the royals seem to have ditched since the death of the late queen is saying no to selfies, and in fact, they seem to be embracing it.
02:58 With most well-wishers turning up to royal events with their phones in hand, the likes of William and Kate have been seen throwing their arms around the public and smiling for photos with them.
03:15 Although a ban on royals posing for selfies was not part of official protocol, several members of the firm had previously revealed their dislike of the photos.
03:31 In 2018, William once described himself as allergic to selfies while in 2015, younger brother Prince Harry spoke of how he hated them and told a fan in Australia to just take a normal photo.
03:50 He told her, "No, I hate selfies. Seriously, you need to get out of it, the habit. I know you're young, selfies are bad.
04:05 Just take a normal photograph."The late queen was also said to have an aversion to selfies and Meghan Markle once told well-wishers on her first ever royal engagement in Nottingham in 2017, "We're not allowed to do selfies."
04:26 But now, there doesn't seem to be the same rules when it comes to the snaps.
