00:00 Thank you, but not yet. I don't know. It's a crazy match that we've been through today.
00:10 A rollercoaster of a match, to be honest. I don't think I've played too many matches like this in my life.
00:17 Maybe I can compare it to Nadal's finals in the Australian Open in 2012.
00:24 The distance was obviously three sets a day, but almost four hours.
00:30 Some phases of the match went the way of one player, some the other player.
00:37 We went kind of toe to toe. I started off better, but then he just struggled a lot physically on the court.
00:45 He used it. He was set on a break.
00:48 When he played a poor game to give me the break, I was quite solid that game.
00:54 I thought, "Okay, maybe I have a chance."
00:57 Then I fought and believed that I could make it. It was really anybody's game.
01:03 I thought the third set had many chances, maybe even for a double break.
01:09 The match point at 5-3 was unbelievable.
01:14 It was kind of a showcase of what this whole match was about.
01:20 That match point saved from him.
01:23 It was just one of the most exciting and toughest mentally, emotionally, physically matches that I've ever had in my career.
01:33 Congratulations.
01:35 Thank you.
01:37 Obviously, people have known about Al Paco for a long time.
01:41 He's a better team than you.
01:43 Has he done emotional and mental stress?
01:46 Does that surprise you in the last few matches with him?
01:51 It doesn't surprise me anymore.
01:53 It was surprising me maybe at the end of last year or beginning of this year.
01:59 What he was doing, the way he won big matches, big tournaments, was so impressive.
02:07 Coming out in important moments, going for it, brave.
02:13 You just have to put your heads down to a guy like that who plays so maturely and handles the pressure so well for a 20-year-old.
02:25 We cannot forget how young he is.
02:29 That's something that is so impressive about him.
02:33 It kind of reminds me of the feeling that I have on the court.
02:40 It reminds me a little bit of when I was facing Nadal when we were at our prime of our careers.
02:52 Each point is a hustle.
02:55 Each point is a battle.
02:57 You feel like you're not going to get maybe five free points in the entire match.
03:02 You've got to basically earn every single point, every single shot.
03:08 Regardless of the conditions, obviously, if you play on slower conditions, slower courts, even more so.
03:15 Here, the ball bounces quite high and pretty quick.
03:21 Nevertheless, we both found a way to play a four-hour match for three sets.
03:28 It doesn't surprise me, to be honest.
03:30 I do wish that sometimes I can play maybe in some moments slightly more aggressive.
03:37 Maybe I should have.
03:40 One thing is to analyze the game before or after a match and maybe think about things that you could have done better.
03:47 The other one is really being there on the court and experiencing what you're experiencing
03:53 and trying to tactically play the correct point, especially against him,
04:01 knowing that he's going to run down every single shot.
04:06 That match point, save for him, I ran him around two or three different corners.
04:13 From deep backhand corner, I played a solid forehand drop shot.
04:19 He was there in no time and made a passing shot in the corner.
04:22 It's just amazing to be able to experience that with him on the court.
04:30 I think all of the matches that we played against each other went distance.
04:36 First match in Madrid last year, 7-6 in the third today.
04:41 Both Grand Slam matches, four or five setters.
04:44 It just keeps getting better, I guess, for the fans, for us.
04:48 I don't know if we are enjoying it so much, but it's definitely a challenge that we both need to embrace and accept
04:57 because that's what's required from both of us in order to win big titles.
05:05 Everywhere you went this week, there was a large group of fans there,
05:10 from a practice office, holding up the stadium, earlier in the week to tonight's crowd
05:14 that seemed to live and die on every point with you and Carlos.
05:17 Can you describe your experience this week as you've interacted with the Cincinnati fans?
05:21 Amazing.
05:23 As I said on the court, fans the entire week, for all the players, I can speak on my behalf,
05:31 were super kind, nice, supportive.
05:34 They welcomed me with their open arms.
05:36 The first practice session I had, full stadium, it was amazing.
05:41 A couple of years not being in the USA, obviously I didn't know the way I'm going to be accepted by the fans or welcomed.
05:50 It was a perfect week in every sense.
05:55 I just have, obviously, big thanks to say and to give to all of them.
