Unai Emery's side thrashed Everton by four goals to nil on their Premier League return to Villa Park.
Transcript
00:00 Aston Villa 4 Everton 0 and the first Premier League game of the season at home here at Villa Park, the second all together.
00:07 It's a massive three points for Unai Emery's men who dominated from start to finish.
00:11 Everton appalling defensively and just weren't winning any of their ground or aerial duels it must be said.
00:16 But Villa can't take anything away from their performance. It could well have been 6-7-0 here to be honest.
00:21 It was that good of a performance from Unai Emery's men.
00:24 John McGinn opened the scoring in the 18th minute, following in from a Leon Bailey cutback.
00:28 It was to Diaby the new signing who played it into Bailey down the right hand side and it was a great goal to kick things off.
00:33 Just a few minutes later from the penalty spot Douglas Luiz taking after Oli Watkins won the penalty.
00:39 Jordan Pickford clattering into him. You normally expect Watkins to take spot kicks.
00:43 In this case it was Luiz so a few fantasy football managers out there might be a little bit concerned by that one.
00:48 But it was put emphatically into the bottom right hand corner giving Pickford no chance.
00:52 In the second half it was kind of just going ahead as they went into half time.
00:57 Leon Bailey who really did deserve a goal anticipated well as Michael Keane failed to clear away.
01:02 He put it between the legs of Pickford for 3-0.
01:05 And then in the 74th, 75th minute, 50 seconds after coming onto the pitch for Oli Watkins,
01:10 John Jada Duran the 19 year old Colombian striker, he scored his first goal for Aston Villa.
01:16 His first here at Villa Park. A great goal.
01:19 Not because of a wonder strike or anything like that but his anticipation, his determination to get there.
01:25 As Michael Keane fell asleep really on the ball.
01:28 Duran there taking advantage, running through, had loads of time.
01:31 Did take a bit of a dodgy touch actually but had so much time there.
01:34 He was able to slot it in past Pickford for 4-0.
01:37 A couple of downers on the result, not the result but on the day.
01:41 Leon Bailey after his amazing performance, probably my man of the match with a 9/10 in my player ratings.
01:47 Philippe Coutinho after coming on. Looked pretty bright but pulled up with his hamstring.
01:52 It took about 5 minutes to go round the perimeter of the field here at Villa Park.
01:56 Quite a concerning one. He looked in so much pain as he was aided by the medical staff.
02:01 So that hopefully will hear some positive news from Unai Emery in the press conference.
02:05 But it didn't look good.
02:07 But with that in mind, do keep an eye on Birmingham World or Code.uk.
02:10 I put my player ratings on there already from this game as well as the in-depth match reports.
02:15 And there will be plenty of post-match quotes as well as analysis and also games going forward
02:19 in this Premier League and European season.
