BirminghamWorld reporter Charlie Haffenden's post-match reaction to Aston Villa 3-2 Everton in the Premier League.
Transcript
00:00Aston Villa 3, Everton 2 in the Premier League. Wow, what a turnaround victory that is here at Villa Park.
00:08Now up to 3rd in the Premier League, Unai Emery's men. 3 wins out of 4 to start the new season.
00:13And the man who won the game tonight, John Duran. The man who keeps coming off the bench and scoring vital goals for Aston Villa
00:20has done it yet again and this is his greatest yet. What a goal this was from distance.
00:25About 30, maybe even 35 yards out to win the game at the end for Villa. About 20 minutes to go.
00:31Unleashed one with the outside of his left boot into the top left-hand corner.
00:35The movement on the ball, every replay you watched it got better and better to watch.
00:39And as soon as it was shown on the big screens here, everyone's jaws just dropped.
00:44Eni Martinez as well in real time, his jaw dropped. A fantastic image of him, just you couldn't believe it as Duran scored an absolute wonder goal.
00:52An early goal of the season contender. It wasn't all fun and games though for Villa as Everton did go 2-0 up in the first half.
00:59Dwight McNeil dispossessed Amadou Onana, of course a former Everton man, making the mistake.
01:05And McNeil had lots to do still from that point. He drove past Onana and past Konza before swinging the ball into the far bottom right-hand corner.
01:14It was a real grass cutter along the floor. Eni Martinez took a wrong step to his right,
01:19kind of off-putting for stepping left and then diving down low. It was pretty unbeatable though from McNeil to give Everton the lead.
01:26And then a second goal, Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring a header from a McNeil wide free kick.
01:31I'm not sure who was really at fault for this one, I think just Villa's defence in general to be honest.
01:36Their positioning was absolutely dreadful, allowing Calvert-Lewin to head in with relative ease really at the far post.
01:43Uri Tielemans was the man to blame onside, but it was just a total calamitous bit of defending from Villa on the whole, not just one individual.
01:50Oli Watkins brought one back before the break, getting his first goal of the season, finally getting that goal, finishing well.
01:59After the break as well, I think Villa got control of possession and they looked more likely to score than Everton did and they got their second goal.
02:07Oli Watkins yet again, this time it was a pretty fortunate one, but he wasn't in the right place at the right time.
02:13Uri Tielemans' pass was deflected into Watkins' path by Dwight McNeil, or Jack Harrison rather, and Watkins finished pretty easily past Jordan Pickford.
02:23But then what was to come after that was a substitute, John Duran, the man as I mentioned, scoring that absolute wonder strike to give Villa a vital three points.
02:32Calvin Lewin did strike the crossbar to cause a few concerns just a minute or so after Duran's goal, but in the end Villa stuck in and held on for a vital three points.
02:43That's now nine out of twelve and Unai Emery's men are up to third in the Premier League.
