00:00 "There is a lot of anger within the Indian community," said DAP's Charles Santiago.
00:07 Santiago said this accounted for a drop in Indian support for Pakatan Harapan at the
00:11 recent state polls as a result of several blunders committed by politicians.
00:17 Santiago cited DAP's ill-timed decision to drop P. Ramasamy as a candidate for the
00:21 Penang polls, as well as a slur used by PKR's Najuan Halimi against party socialist Malaysia
00:28 and its candidate for the Meru state seat, Sivaranjani Manikam, as glaring missteps.
00:33 Santiago also pointed out that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's handling of a question by
00:38 an Indian student on the quota system in education was also found to have been condescending.
00:44 The former Klang MP further emphasised that apart from PH feeling unknown candidates,
00:49 there was also a lingering sense that the government was not doing enough to look into
00:52 the plight of the Indian community.
00:55 Santiago, who sits on the Selangor Indian Consultative Council, was responding to questions
00:59 about the low Indian voter turnout during the August 12 state polls, which he described
01:04 as "one of the absolute worst."
