Dennis Allen speaks with the media following the team's first joint practice with the Chargers.
Transcript
00:00 >> How you doing?
00:00 >> Mike's working his right foot.
00:01 >> Pretty good, I like the weather.
00:03 >> You know what I mean?
00:03 >> It's not bad.
00:04 >> Southern Cal, man.
00:05 >> Yeah, it's not bad out here.
00:06 Yeah, look, I thought really good practice.
00:09 I mean, obviously I was over on the defensive field for most of the practice, so
00:12 I can't really speak too much on the offense.
00:15 I think we got a pretty good rundown from Derek on what that looked like.
00:18 But I thought defensively over there, it was pretty good.
00:22 Guys were competing, made a few plays.
00:25 It's a really good team that they have.
00:28 They got a good quarterback.
00:29 They got a good skilled player.
00:30 So it was a great opportunity for us to get out here and get better.
00:34 >> On first glance, would you call it even on your end of the field?
00:37 >> Yeah, I'm not gonna get into whether it's even or who won or
00:40 anything like that.
00:41 But I felt like our defense performed pretty well.
00:45 >> Derek said that though, at least on this side,
00:48 it was one of the least shippy practices like this that he's been a part of.
00:55 Is that true on your side too?
00:56 >> Yeah, look, I think obviously Brandon and
01:01 I communicated a lot in terms of just, we just wanna come out here and
01:05 get some really good work.
01:06 Two good teams competing against each other.
01:09 But for these two days of work against each other, we're all in the NFL together.
01:15 So for these two days, we're all part of the same team.
01:18 The most important thing is trying to come out of this thing
01:21 with both teams being healthy.
01:23 And then secondary to that is how do we improve as a team?
01:29 >> Do you feel like you guys could be more productive today with less breaks and
01:32 the weather?
01:32 >> Yeah, and yet, look, I mean, at the end of basically every team period,
01:37 we got a little hydration in there.
01:38 When we went to field goal, field goal block,
01:40 everybody kinda got a chance to rest up and stuff.
01:44 So I feel like we got a ton of work done, and I think it was productive.
01:50 >> So you guys traveled a number of your injured guys,
01:54 just kind of a sense that they're closer?
01:56 >> Yeah, I think most of the guys are,
01:59 they're at that point where they're doing field work and things of that nature.
02:04 And so we felt like bringing them here and being with the team,
02:10 treatment and stuff here.
02:12 Still got some extra field space where they can get their field work done.
02:15 So we felt for those guys that it was appropriate for,
02:19 we wanna make sure that we're here.
02:21 >> And somewhat related, is this an opportunity for
02:24 you guys to get closer as a team, do some bonding when you guys aren't going home
02:27 at night, and they're all- >> Yeah, look, I think I've said this
02:30 before, I love holing up in a hotel and just having your guys there and
02:36 guys hanging out together.
02:38 It's part of the structure of the meeting schedule and
02:41 everything that we're doing is to try to come closer together as a football team.
02:45 All good?
