Actor and comedian Eddie Izzard says it was an “honour” to be interviewed by Sir Michael Parkinson and described him as the “king of intelligent interviews.” Chat show host Parkinson died at home on Wednesday at the age of 88, following a brief illness. 00:00 It was kind of like an honor to be interviewed by Michael Parkinson.
00:03 I think interviewers these days on the British chat shows and the American chat shows,
00:08 if you study the two, they're kind of, you know, because they're English speaking chat shows,
00:11 so we can understand things that go and we tend to be influenced by what happens in America,
00:16 because it's such a big country and got so much, so many TV programs. But Michael Parkinson was
00:21 the benchmark. He had all the great people on there. He was so yeah, I said the king of
00:26 intelligent interviews because there was intelligence always behind it. He wasn't
00:30 looking for, can I make a joke here? Can you make a joke there? He would let people make jokes,
00:34 but it was, can you unravel yourself a bit? Can you bring us into your life as the guest?
00:42 And we felt very safe with his helming of the show.
