00:00 Hi, I'm Stephen, National World's Digital Trends Writer, and welcome back to another
00:04 episode of Screenbabel Weekend Watch, where I run down everything coming to streaming
00:09 and TV this week, or at least the highlights, and tell you what to look out for.
00:14 So Friday the 18th of August, we have Derry Girls Season 3 coming to Netflix.
00:18 This is the Northern Ireland comedy series about a group of schoolgirls during the Troubles,
00:23 with the third season leading up to the historic Good Friday Agreement.
00:27 The series landed on Channel 4 last year, but it's finally coming to Netflix where you
00:31 can watch it ad-free.
00:34 Then also on Netflix is Masked Girl Season 1.
00:37 This is a South Korean comedy-drama.
00:41 There's seven episodes in the series.
00:42 They'll all land on Friday the 18th on Netflix.
00:45 It follows an office worker who is insecure about her looks and becomes a masked internet
00:51 personality by night as her personal life begins to spiral out of control.
00:59 Then also on Friday we have Shelter on Amazon Prime.
01:04 This is based on the Harland Coben novel.
01:06 It's one of several Coben adaptations that have been made in recent years.
01:11 It follows the story of Mickey Boletar, who is a student at a new school in New Jersey,
01:18 as he deals with a lot of personal issues.
01:21 His mother's in rehab, his father has died, and his aunt is incredibly annoying.
01:28 There's eight episodes in the series.
01:29 The first three will land on Prime on Friday the 18th, and then they'll be released one
01:34 episode weekly after that.
01:37 Then on Sunday, the big TV event for not just the UK, but internationally, obviously, is
01:45 the Women's World Cup Final, which will see Spain play either Australia or England, as
01:50 I'm recording this literally 20 minutes before the England versus Australia game starts.
01:55 Hopefully it's England, but we'll know by the time you hear this.
02:00 That will take place at 11am on BBC One and ITV One.
02:06 Both channels have rights to broadcast it.
02:09 Obviously on BBC One there'll be no adverts, on ITV there will be.
02:14 They'll also be playing on the online streaming equivalent.
02:17 The match will take place at the Stadium Australia in Sydney, where 83,500 fans will be watching,
02:26 and millions more on TV, of course.
02:29 Then on Monday the 21st, we have Top Guns Inside the RAF.
02:33 This is a Channel 4 documentary series.
02:37 It follows British defence pilots, specifically from the Louis Smith base in north-eastern
02:46 Scotland, where RAF Typhoon fighters have been armed and ready to scramble since the
02:53 Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
02:56 It basically explores the life of British fighter pilots.
03:02 There's six episodes in the series, they'll be landing on Mondays on Channel 4 at 9pm
03:08 for six weeks.
03:10 Then lastly in our highlights of this week, we have Confessions of Franny Langton, an
03:17 ITV One series, originally on ITVX but now airing on ITV One at 9pm weekly on Mondays.
03:25 There's four episodes in the series.
03:27 It's a 19th century set drama about a servant and former slave from the sugar plantations
03:32 of Jamaica, who are accused of murdering a plantation owner and his wife.
03:40 It tells the story of Franny Langton's travels from Jamaica to London's Mayfair and a lovely
03:49 mansion there where she ends up.
03:52 It's based on the Sarah Collins novel of the same name.
03:56 That's all from me with your weekend watch highlights.
03:58 Join me again next week for more Screenbabel recommendations.
04:01 Thanks very much.
