Another twist in this story for the Italian.
Transcript
00:00 So Lee, starting off looking at Willy Nonto, obviously an incredible player, we saw his potential, we've seen it at Italy shirt, we've seen it at Leeds in the Premier League.
00:09 What's the situation there? It seems like it's gone quite sour and it seems like it's a situation where maybe the player isn't understanding that he's signed this deal, you've got to live up to the deal whether you like it or not.
00:22 You've signed this and it's your job to play for the shirt.
00:25 Well, 'refuse to play, don't come back' was the chant from the away end at Birmingham and that says it all really from the fans' perspective.
00:32 And I think the thing is at Leeds United, I think once the fans turn on you, whether it's as a player or a manager, I don't really think there is any way back really.
00:38 So I find it hard to see any sort of positive resolution for this one other than the fact that if he doesn't want to play for the club, which doesn't look to be the case, then probably move on this summer.
00:49 But, yeah, I mean, it's been an awful start to the season for Leeds, obviously, and that's the last thing that needed to happen was something on that line.
00:56 But you sort of knew as soon as Daniel Farka said after the cup game that he was unavailable, that something was afoot because obviously he was asked, 'is he injured?'
01:04 Well, no, he's not. So, you know, and then obviously the news broke ahead of the Birmingham game.
01:08 And then obviously we had a similar situation, well I don't know about similar situation, but obviously Sinistero, obviously the same thing with him being unavailable as well.
01:14 So, yeah, I mean, fans are at the wit's end of this, obviously, because they want people in this squad and they want people in this team that fight for the shirt and that want to be there basically.
01:22 And, you know, Liam Cooper hit the nail on the head when he revealed his dressing room speech sort of upon relegation, whereas if you don't want to be at this club, then you know what the rest is basically.
01:32 And that's totally it. And that's what Leeds need. They need players that want to be at this club, that want to fight for the shirt.
01:37 And, you know, like really, I mean, I can't have it for a second that went on. So I think, you know, I understand that players want to play in the Premier League and what have you.
01:44 But I mean, to just like, you know, effectively refuse to play. I mean, you've got a contract at the end of the day and stuff.
01:49 And yeah, it's pretty unacceptable. I think I'm not surprised the fans are absolutely livid about it.
01:53 So, yeah, I mean, we'll wait and see what the latest is. Daniel Farker certainly not taking any messing.
01:58 He basically said himself again post-match Birmingham that, you know, players that don't want to be here, they need to be moved on, that they train on their own.
02:04 So I'm assuming he will train on his own, certainly for the foreseeable. But yeah, in terms of his Leeds United future, I think Burton Bridges is basically the way I'd describe that.
02:11 Uriah, he's certainly in flashes, showing that he's a very, very good player, really burst on the scene at the start, you know, when he first came in at Leeds.
02:17 I've got to say that although there was a massive clamour for him to be coming into the team, you know, to be played more towards the end of the season when Leeds went down,
02:24 even the chances he did get, he didn't really sort of like, you know, absolutely come out flying, really.
02:28 I mean, I still think, you know, he's got questions to answer, put it that way. And he has looked good for Italy.
02:32 But yeah, we'll wait and see what happens in the future there, holds there. But I mean, not the sort of thing you want to see.
02:37 And bottom line is you want players at your club that want to play for the team. That's as simple as that.
02:41 It's as simple as that.
