Around 9:00 pm on Sunday, a loud rumbling was heard, caused by a flow of debris.
Reports indicate that a river of mud and debris swept through the town due to the overflow of the Merdovine river, damaging streets, basements, and parked cars.
Experts refer to this as a "debris flow" or "mudslide". An event that, according to Mayor Chiara Rossetti, was unusual and impossible to foresee.
It all originated from a storm focused on a small portion of the mountain.
