00:49 Despite his tragically short time in the spotlight,
00:54 Bruce Lee was able to cast a huge shadow that spanned the globe encompassing not only just martial arts,
00:59 but Hollywood pop culture and the imagination of millions of fans.
01:02 This 7 inch scale highly articulate Ultimates figure of the warrior Bruce Lee
01:06 is featuring Bruce Lee in his Kung Fu outfit and comes with interchangeable alternate head and hands,
01:12 and a variety of other accessories including real metal chain nunchucks,
01:15 a bow staff, removable soft goods, undershirt and jacket.
01:18 Don't miss the connection! Get your maid to order Bruce Lee Ultimates figure while you can,
01:23 because your chance to get one, much like Punch from Bruce Lee, will pass in the blink of an eye.
01:28 First thing we'll do before we get a closer look at Warrior Bruce Lee is let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:34 Now I ended up finding this one and the other Bruce Lee that make up wave one of the brand new Bruce Lee Ultimates figures over at Entertainment Earth.
01:41 Should you guys be interested, grab these guys quickly.
01:44 They are available, like I said, you can click the link down below in the video description.
01:47 In the meantime though, Bruce Lee stands about 6 3/4 of an inch in height,
01:51 or the figure is going to be about 16 centimeters tall.
01:54 For the comparisons, I thought I'd bring in somebody who knows a little something about martial arts.
01:59 So we're going to slide over to Bruce Lee and we'll also bring in Snake Eyes,
02:03 as many of you may already have this guy as part of your collection.
02:06 In this case, Bruce Lee, as you can see, is noticeably smaller than, say, the likes of Snake Eyes.
02:12 They probably could have made them a little bit more in line with one another,
02:15 but I think probably the chances of you displaying Bruce Lee along with a Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe might be slim to none.
02:21 Sorry, I shouldn't be making the assumption that you wouldn't be displaying your Bruce Lee along with Snake Eyes.
02:27 The only thing about it though is that the scaling of the two figures seem a little off from one another.
02:31 On to though the accessories that come included with the dragon,
02:34 first of which the figure comes with three different ways technically you can have the figure displayed.
02:38 He has a white tank top when you get the figure first out of his packaging
02:42 that can also be removed if you wanted to have him shirtless instead.
02:45 But as another alternative, Super 7 have also packed along with this.
02:49 I believe this is a Jeet Kune Do Tai Chi jacket.
02:52 We see often at times in pictures, at least to Bruce Lee, as him wearing this.
02:56 There's been actually a couple of scenes, in fact, I think in movies where he's actually worn this also as well.
03:00 Here's one problem I have though with the jacket is not the inclusion of this with the figure,
03:04 but the fact I felt like they did so many things with one figure instead of actually just releasing this separately.
03:10 The real reason why I say this is because this does fit over top of Bruce Lee's very slender frame.
03:16 Of course, it does involve you first of all removing the hands.
03:19 We can do that on both the sides.
03:21 Take the hand off first on one side and then take, of course, the other hand on the other side.
03:25 By the way, these hands will be looking at many, many, many hands that come included with Bruce Lee.
03:30 This just happens to be close fists.
03:32 But let's for right now at least take the jacket, slide it up his arms.
03:36 Now, one other thing too, for the length of time that I've actually had this figure,
03:40 I can't say 100% if this will eventually stain the plastic that's on his body,
03:46 because of course I just haven't had the figure that long.
03:48 But as best as I can get this, let's just get the jacket over top of his body.
03:51 Because there is one point though I did want to make about this is again, I like the idea that they included this.
03:56 But a lot of times, at least I've seen him wearing this jacket.
03:59 Two things.
04:00 First of all, he usually tends to have this sleeve longer.
04:03 And I think most of the time it usually goes down to his wrist.
04:06 But in both the cases, whether you actually have this full length sleeve,
04:09 or you have this half rolled or folded, rolled up like he has right now,
04:13 a lot of times we usually see then a shirt that's rolled underneath it,
04:16 like a white part of the sleeve rolled up with it.
04:19 I feel like they kind of have combined a couple of figures together,
04:22 instead of just giving us, you know, again, like multiple versions of Bruce Lee,
04:25 one that could have actually had the Tai Chi jacket, and then one that could have been displayed without it.
04:29 Because again, I like the sleeves only go so far down.
04:32 And I feel like they should be a lot longer, or they should have, again, the cuff section being white.
04:37 Just as my own personal observation of the figure.
04:40 So again, he has this look.
04:42 Certainly, if that's the way you want to display the figure, that's the way I started the beginning of this review with.
04:46 But I think for me, at least, the preferred look, and actually just before we actually take the jacket off,
04:50 I want to show you how good the jacket actually is.
04:53 These do loop in with one another.
04:55 It depends on how you want the look of Bruce Lee, because there's a couple of times we've actually seen the jacket open up like this.
04:59 But again, it's not quite this shirt underneath.
05:02 And other times where we've seen it, where we've actually buttoned these up.
05:05 Now, these aren't the easiest things to button up.
05:07 You essentially get a loop on one side, and then you have a knot on the other.
05:11 The first one actually sort of gets started for you, when you get the jacket first out.
05:15 This is already looped around the top knot.
05:18 And then all the other things you have to kind of do yourself.
05:21 And again, these just sort of tie around. Not the easiest thing to do.
05:23 You can also sort of phone it in, and just kind of bring them together.
05:27 I think rather, instead of actually having these as real things that would loop on an actual jacket,
05:31 I think I'd much rather if they had just done a Velcro.
05:34 Sort of have a clasp or closure that way.
05:37 Where you could actually just have, yeah, again, you can just cheat as well.
05:40 And bring these closer together also, if you really wanted to.
05:43 Let's for at least right now, take the jacket off.
05:45 And again, I can't claim as to whether this will leave behind a stain.
05:48 Because of the darker color of the material that they've used,
05:51 there is a possibility that it may leave behind a stain.
05:53 But again, I haven't had to figure out for very long.
05:56 So let's go ahead and remove the Tai Chi jacket for right now.
05:59 I guess what we'll leave is, we'll leave behind the arms, or the hands behind right now.
06:03 We won't actually attach the hands.
06:05 Because there's a few little things I'm going to want to do with those.
06:07 Speaking though of hands, I mean, we've already looked at the fact that Bruce Lee does come in close with closed fists.
06:12 Normally I would say not the most interesting things.
06:15 But I mean, Bruce Lee, you know, does punch things.
06:17 But he does also have a lot of cool other accessories too.
06:20 So like, I would probably be beelining away from closed fists myself.
06:23 And probably going something a little bit more interesting.
06:25 He has a pair of flat hands.
06:27 And again, like the plastic on all these is pretty good.
06:30 The figure also has various different gripping hands for all the next accessories that we're about to have a look at.
06:35 So he comes with a couple of gripping hands.
06:37 And of course he has another gripping hand as well.
06:40 Just depending on how big of a diameter you need on the grip for him to hold whatever the things that we, you know, again, we're about to have a look at.
06:47 Comes with a pair of also more relaxed hands.
06:50 And then he comes with a hand that's not quite relaxed.
06:55 But it's about the very similar type of idea.
06:58 Then you get to the more interesting looking hands that Bruce Lee comes included with.
07:02 More gestured hands.
07:03 Some of these, like this one here for example, kind of looks like he's making a shadow doggy.
07:08 We only just need a light source in front of it.
07:10 But some of these, like this one for example, I'm sure you probably could still have him carrying around, say, a nunchuck.
07:15 Simply just slide that into his hand.
07:17 And it just kind of gives him a little bit more gesture.
07:19 But like if you just wanted though to have the hands displayed on their own, you can also use those also as well.
07:25 And it comes also included with like these hands.
07:27 I think these hands by all the hands we've looked at at least.
07:30 I don't know what shadows these things would be making on the walls, but these are at least of the hands provided.
07:35 My favorite ones.
07:36 I really like the look of these.
07:37 Now again, to change out any of those hands, now that we've already removed the hands from what we already started with,
07:43 let's go ahead and let's pop a couple of those hands in.
07:46 Thumbsies will always go in.
07:47 Rule of thumb.
07:48 And that'll go on the one side.
07:50 And then of course we'll do the exact same thing on the other side.
07:52 Plug that in place.
07:53 The pegs are fairly long, but the plastic that they used is quite forgiving.
07:57 So if you're worried about these being brittle pegs, for example, you don't have to worry.
08:02 I think like the hands hold up pretty good when it comes to changing them.
08:05 And again, like you just can display Bruce Lee any which way that you want.
08:09 Now we're also going to talk also by the fact the figure comes included with not one, not two, but three interchangeable heads.
08:15 Before we get down to actually looking at though, the figure comes included with two variations of nunchuck.
08:21 The first of which are staction.
08:23 In other words, you can't do anything with them.
08:25 They don't have though a real working chain, but what they've done at least is they've taken the time to paint this all nicely in silver.
08:31 Now there's this one where you can probably pair this underneath his armpit, for example.
08:35 And then there's this one that's a little bit more exaggerated, where stretched out, you can have him holding on both the sides of his hands.
08:41 If you prefer though your nunchuck to be a little bit more realistic, then he actually gets himself a pair of nunchuck that actually does have a real chain in the middle.
08:48 And from what I can understand, these are real metal chains, real actual chains connecting the two nunchuck together.
08:54 Really nice.
08:55 The figure also then comes included with a bow staff.
08:57 The staff, while not being black like the nunchuck, have been sculpted fairly well.
09:02 Sort of more of a, how would you describe this as a color?
09:05 A grayish brown.
09:06 And again, all of these can be displayed in the figure's hands.
09:09 The last thing of course we'll have a look at is the fact the figure comes included with, like I said already, two extra head sculpts that aren't already on the socket of the neck.
09:17 Now the defaulted head, for right now at least, is this one right here.
09:21 The head sculpt I think is pretty good.
09:23 Likeness wise, I think it captures enough of Bursley that I know who the character is.
09:28 Still though, I think it's a little bit off, but I think it's still pretty good of a head sculpt.
09:32 You know, in some ways actually, while looking at it under certain angled conditions,
09:37 for me it looks a little also like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
09:40 That probably might not be the best positive compliment to be giving a figure like this that's supposed to look like Bursley.
09:46 But if you've ever seen sort of those deep fake Arnold Schwarzenegger shorts,
09:51 where somebody has taken of course Arnold Schwarzenegger's face and put him in various movies,
09:54 in a way it sort of looks like Bursley mixed a little bit with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
09:58 Am I the only one that maybe sees that?
10:00 Head sculpt I think for what it is, it's passable.
10:03 But there's also like this head sculpt, which is the neutral one.
10:06 This one that has a little bit more of an expression on his face.
10:09 And he also does have like the eyes a little bit more closer together.
10:12 A little more closed shut is that option also as well.
10:16 And then the last head sculpt, I like this one because it does have at least the eyes being angled.
10:22 The thing I don't necessarily like about it is that the one eye looks pretty good,
10:25 but then the other eye looks almost lifeless.
10:28 It's not until actually like looking at it straight on, it looks like the eye is blue.
10:33 And yet the more you turn it, the more the eye starts to turn brown.
10:37 It's this weird optical illusion.
10:40 See that? Still I think it looks a little bit like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
10:43 But though if you did want to change out the heads, let's go with maybe say this one for right now.
10:47 What we'll do is we'll pop off the head, just attach it as easy peasy as that.
10:53 And then we're just going to pop in then the new head sculpt that just then pops onto the ball joint.
10:57 We have to just put a little bit of pressure on there to snap it in place.
11:00 Yeah, again, it's an okay head sculpt,
11:03 but I don't think it looks as good as maybe like some of the original promotional images that we saw for Bruce Lee online
11:08 prior to this figure actually getting released.
11:10 As for the rest of the figure's outfit, he does have again his white tank top,
11:14 which we will remove in a second. It's a real fabric tank top.
11:17 But what though isn't real fabric is the pants that he has down below.
11:20 They've just been molded here in all black plastic.
11:23 The pants themselves look okay.
11:25 I mean, there's one area like with the legs, for example,
11:28 with my leg, at least not my leg, his leg, there leaves behind a little bit of a gap.
11:33 So when you are posing this figure, you may not want to be prone to posing the figure with the ankle or the thighs angled out
11:39 because it's going to leave behind this very awkward gap.
11:42 Still rather, you would probably want to bring the legs a little bit more inward.
11:45 I mean, they have some decent articulation.
11:47 They are a little bit more limited, but unfortunately, just by the construction,
11:50 the way they built the figure here from the waist down,
11:53 there are going to be a little bit more limitations with what you can do with the figure
11:56 in the sense that maybe splitting the legs might not be one thing that you'd be able to successfully do with Bruce Lee.
12:01 But, you know, again, like he's still pretty poseable.
12:04 We're going to talk more about that in a moment.
12:06 So if, for example, you want to get this guy with a shirt off,
12:09 let's go ahead and pop off Bruce Lee's head.
12:11 First of all, what we'll do is just kind of move his arms out of the way.
12:13 I was going to kind of think ahead of myself here.
12:15 Just pop the head off for right now.
12:17 Now we're going to bring up his arms, and then we're just going to take then the tank top,
12:21 and we're going to slide it up his torso.
12:23 For me, at least, I'm going to be displaying Bruce Lee shirtless.
12:26 Again, I appreciate the fact that they would have taken the time to include, I guess,
12:30 really three different ways of displaying the figure.
12:32 But for me, at least at the end of the day, I'd like to really just display Bruce Lee shirtless.
12:37 That's just my personal opinion.
12:39 But let's go ahead and grab this head sculpt here.
12:43 And we're just going to pop it back onto the ball joint.
12:46 A little bit of pressure, a little bit required.
12:49 And then again, like you've got the figure now with some...
12:51 To the credit of this figure, one thing it works really well with is the fact it has as many hands as it does.
12:56 And with, again, the articulation, it may be a little more on the limited side when it comes to this area of the figure.
13:01 But yeah, you can get the figure in some pretty good-looking poses.
13:05 Probably bring back a better-looking pose than this when we get to the final looks of the figure.
13:09 Now, when it comes to his poseability, I'm going to go back to the top of the head here.
13:12 The head is on a ball joint, so it's essentially on a post that allows the head to rotate all the way around.
13:17 The head also allows to look up and look down.
13:20 But with both, you can't actually bring the head that far back.
13:23 That's as far back as you can really get it, and that's as far forward as you can really get it.
13:27 And of course, in between that, you can't rock it back and forth as well.
13:30 The figure has an upper torso ball joint.
13:32 It doesn't maybe move as well as I would have hoped.
13:35 But again, like, if you move it too far back, you can really notice the construction of the figure is going to leave behind a very obvious gap.
13:41 The figure also has what seems to be a ball joint at the base of his abdomen.
13:45 Arms rotate all the way around. They seem to be on hinged joints.
13:48 So easily, you can bring those arms all the way up.
13:51 There's no limitations here. Maybe here there are, but maybe nothing here.
13:54 Maybe not as much in the arms.
13:56 Arms, though, in the bicep area at least, rotate all the way around.
13:59 The figure only sadly has a single hinge in his elbow, but it allows at least the forearm to rotate back and forth, and the hands rotate also all the way around.
14:05 Then when we get to the legs.
14:07 OK, so the legs themselves, we already looked and established the fact that he has a ball joint.
14:11 This waist, of course, swivels back and forth as well.
14:14 But here with the legs, I mean, I thought for a second that you may have been able to drop the legs down a little bit.
14:19 But when it comes to the splits, that's as far of a split as you really can get for Bruce Lee.
14:23 You can kind of twist the leg a little bit, but it really, in order for him to get a full split, you kind of have to take the thigh and twist it inward.
14:31 If you take the thigh and again twist it inward, that's where you get the splits for Bruce Lee.
14:35 So in a way, it is something that can be accomplished.
14:39 But in order to do that, you have to take the leg and you sort of have to turn it in on itself in order to get the full splits for Bruce Lee.
14:44 And I guess it's not so bad.
14:46 It gives you more of a seamless look when you're looking at it straightforward.
14:49 And again, just to bring it, just to get here, the next step then, of course, is to bring the leg a little bit more.
14:55 Well, bring it inward, and then you'd be able to do the splits that way.
14:58 So the leg goes forward, the legs go back.
15:00 There's a swivel at the top of the thigh.
15:02 We've already kind of looked at that.
15:03 There's a little hinge only on the knee, which unfortunately does leave this little cut area that sticks now out, but does at least allow the lower leg to rotate.
15:10 And the only other thing I would say from a cosmetic standpoint is that I really wish instead of they actually had used gray socks, they had gone with white.
15:18 Whenever I think of Bruce Lee, especially with black slacks, black shoes, I always think of the white socks that he has dividing the two.
15:23 And in this case, he actually, they've only given him gray socks, which is kind of disappointing.
15:27 But yeah, the legs do rotate, or I should say the feet rotate all the way around.
15:30 And there's a little bit of a hinge.
15:32 There's kind of the hinge tucked behind the shoe, and that's as much as you're really going to be able to get.
15:36 But really, like collectively, everything sort of comes together, and you still can get a poseable figure.
15:42 Whether or not you actually think that that looks like Bruce Lee or not, of course, that would be your own personal opinion.
15:48 But I think at the end of it, I'm still glad to have picked up this Bruce Lee.
15:51 It may not be one of the best Bruce Lees that we've gotten in a plastic figure, but I think it's still pretty good.
15:57 And one of the things that also works really well for this figure is the fact that he comes in clue with as many accessories as he does.
16:03 So there's many different ways of displaying the figure.
16:05 I mean, we've only looked at the fact that the figure does have the jacket.
16:08 He also has, of course, the tank top.
16:10 Or again, if you want to go with the shirtless look, like I have the figure displayed right now, there's also that option.
16:15 But then on top of it, all the hands, all the hands, not to mention all the weapons that he can wield as well.
16:22 Being a big fan of Bruce Lee, these are figures from Super 7 I did want to pick up and now having them in hand,
16:27 maybe they didn't quite deliver exactly what was originally advertised online.
16:32 A lot of times Super 7 may use those images of what the production shots would be or the original model concepts would be of what those figures.
16:40 Until you actually get them actually in hand, you realize that they're not 100% the way that they looked when you first purchased them online.
16:47 But needless to say, though, I did get myself the Warrior Bruce Lee and part of that other same wave of Ultimates Bruce Lee's,
16:52 there was also the Challenger Bruce Lee, which we will be looking at in the upcoming review.
16:56 Whereas this one did have the Tai Chi jacket and then the white undershirt, the Challenger Bruce Lee will have that all yellow suit that he wears.
17:03 And that figure looks pretty good as well.
17:05 The figure does have some decent articulation where it counts.
17:08 The legs are going to be a little bit more limited, but based on the way they've actually designed those legs,
17:13 it'd be kind of hard to get around the idea of giving this guy additional articulation without leaving behind gaps in the tops of his thighs.
17:20 He has posability, I suppose, where it counts.
17:23 And for me, at least when it comes to displaying the figure, though, I have wrapped up things right now with the figure actually wearing his white tank top.
17:29 I might decide, though, I would rather maybe have the figure shirtless because that's for me the way I kind of always picture Bruce Lee.
17:35 Head sculpt wise, now, here's the thing about the head sculpt.
17:38 I think it's close to looking like Bruce Lee. And before you jump down below and let me know it looks nothing like Bruce Lee,
17:43 I will say there's certain elements to it where I see Bruce Lee and I also see Arnold Schwarzenegger.
17:49 I don't know if they couldn't get the likeness down 100% or if something was miscommunicated when it came to producing this figure.
17:55 I don't think the head sculpt, to be fair, looks really 100% like Bruce Lee.
18:00 But at least I know putting the figure on the shelf, I can identify and like to think other people would be able to identify who the character is
18:07 when I have this guy displayed on my shelf.
18:09 What do you guys think of Bruce Lee, though? Let me know down below in the comments section.
18:12 Could you guys see yourselves picking up the new Super 7 GI Joe?
18:16 The Bruce Lee Ultimates, because we just recently had a look at some GI Joe Ultimates, but the Bruce Lee Ultimates Wave 1, this was the Warrior Bruce Lee.
18:23 And of course, like I said, we will be looking at the Challenger Bruce Lee in an upcoming review.
18:27 The key to making sure that you're not missing out on anything that's Dragon related or not, if you, first of all, like this video and hit with a like.
