Titled "The Delhi Sapphire," this gem with disputed origins allegedly came from Kanpur, stolen from the Indra Temple 166 years ago during the tumultuous 1857 Indian Rebellion. A British officer, W. Ferris, stole the blue sapphire, marking the beginning of the "Blue Sapphire Game." Ferris' misfortunes ensued, economically and personally, accompanied by illness and tragic ends for some acquaintances. The gem was deemed the cause of these troubles. Edward Heron-Allen, a British writer, later possessed the sapphire, and the curse persisted, leading him to drastic actions like attempting to dispose of it in a river. After various twists, the sapphire ended up at the Natural History Museum, displayed among misfortune, despite Heron's instruction for its disposal.
