Some people say the population of Edinburgh doubles during the month of august when the Edinburgh Fringe is on. People come from all over the world to perform and spectate. Well, we took to the streets of our Capital to ask performers what they think of Glasgow.
Transcript
00:00 I spoke to a group of students from Glasgow who say that,
00:03 I believe the word dodgy was used.
00:05 - What's my favorite thing about Glasgow?
00:07 - Cooler and edgier than Edinburgh,
00:08 but otherwise pretty similar.
00:10 - Never been to Glasgow.
00:11 - I've been to Glasgow once and it was incredible
00:14 and I'd love to go back.
00:15 Glasgow, yeah, it's a vibe.
00:17 - No, is that not what it's like?
00:21 - My perception of Glasgow is that it's a bit more of an
00:24 oomph, oomph, oomph, oomph scene than Edinburgh.
00:28 But I've been told it's just as beautiful, visually speaking.
00:32 - So I live in Glasgow and I found when moving to Glasgow
00:35 that it is one of the most welcoming cities in the world.
00:39 Like it brought me in, it made me feel like
00:42 I was a Glaswegian, right?
00:44 I'm a Yorkshire though, so I think I kinda,
00:46 you know, we're friends.
00:47 - Oh, I'm not necessarily saying better,
00:49 I'm saying cooler and edgier, you know.
00:52 - How do you know if you've never been there?
00:53 - I don't know, social media.
00:55 It's really gritty.
00:56 My favourite thing is probably all the street art.
01:00 You can just walk around for hours and hours
01:02 and appreciate all the amazing street art there.
01:04 - I've been to Glasgow for an hour.
01:06 I've never, I haven't probably been to Glasgow.
01:07 - Favourite things about Glasgow, the food, right?
01:10 Especially if you like vegan food,
01:12 like there's amazing vegan food in Glasgow.
01:14 The culture's incredible, the art's incredible
01:17 and everyone's funny, which makes it impossible
01:19 to be a stand-up comedian because everyone there
01:20 is funnier than you.
01:22 And that's what I like about Glasgow.
01:23 It's quite dark and rainy.
01:25 (laughs)
01:26 - There's also loads of incredible vegan food.
01:29 I'm not even a vegan, but yeah, it has just,
01:32 yeah, just the coolest people as well.
01:34 Everyone's really trendy, everyone's really cool.
01:36 It's just, it's fabulous, yeah.
01:38 And it's different to Edinburgh.
01:39 Edinburgh's got that sort of old town posh vibe.
01:42 But yeah, Glasgow, completely different,
01:43 but also very Scottish.
01:45 (laughs)
01:45 - I was just getting off a flight and driving to Mull.
01:49 So I was there for literally an hour, but it was okay.
01:52 - Not a whole lot.
01:53 I spoke to a group of students from Glasgow
01:55 who say that, I believe the word dodgy was used
01:58 in certain parts.
01:59 I can imagine what that means,
02:02 but I wasn't quite sure at the time.
02:04 - No, I mean, yeah, I've met Glaswegians.
02:06 No, my perception of Glasgow is like, great.
02:09 I really wanna go across to somewhere.
02:11 I've got a friend who's at a university there
02:13 and I need to go and visit him.
02:15 Yeah.
02:17 - I've heard Edinburgh's posher.
02:18 That seems to be the, and I can understand that.
02:20 It's quite a posh place.
02:21 (laughs)
02:22 The streets are, it's a very active nightlife is what I've been told.
