  • last year
Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib was disappointed that once again his batsmen failed to show composure in a 50-over match. Saying the team started well, bad shot selection cost partnerships. Naib made no excuses of the playing conditions and said his team was trying hard despite losing three matches in this Cricket World Cu,p 2019. The Afghans play South Africa next on June 15. 00:00 You had a good start with the bat today, better than the last two games but then sort of lost
00:11 your way. Where do you think it went wrong today with the bat?
00:14 "Yeah, obviously we started really well in the start of the bedding. Azhar and Noor started
00:21 well, 60 partnerships something. After that, I'm always saying we need small, small partnerships
00:32 with the better side. So we missed out. If you play this kind of cricket, you should
00:37 play 50 hours. Obviously we missed some bad shots, we did some bad shots and that's why
00:45 we missed 10 hours. If we played 50 hours, maybe the score was good. That's why we missed
00:57 some hours."
00:58 Do you feel like there's some naivety in the batting and the shots that people choose
01:04 to play today?
01:05 "Yeah, so the shot selection is not good. The wicket is really good for the day, for
01:12 the steamers and the middle, so some shower, whether it's rainy, so ball skating. So this
01:21 way we not went according to the plan, so what we needed in the middle of the wicket.
01:28 So that's why we missed, we threw early wickets for the bad shots. So this is the cricket,
01:35 so if you play 50 hours, maybe the score was not like that."
