00:00 Some government officials called for a meeting to condemn China's aggressive activities in the West Philippine Sea.
00:08 Meanwhile, an expert called Beijing's "gray zone blockade strategy" to fully control the Ayung-in Shoal.
00:17 Patrick De Jesus has the story.
00:22 In a tweet, Philippine Coast Guard Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Commodore J. Tariella, called for a meeting to condemn China's aggressive activities in the West Philippine Sea.
00:39 "All Filipinos should unite in condemning China's activities in the West Philippine Sea that violate the law and stand for the interests of our country, which is to resolve the issue in a peaceful manner," said Tariella.
00:55 This is also the sentiment of Defense Secretary Givoteo Duro.
00:59 He said that the Philippines' actions are not in favor or in accordance with other countries.
01:06 "There are propaganda spreading. We don't know where it's coming from, maybe from China, maybe from others, but the aim is to spread gossip in every sector of society that we are divided in.
01:24 And we are forced, we are forced to join, that all our actions are being forced by the United States.
01:34 I am saying this is an insult to the Republic of the Philippines."
01:40 According to an international security analyst, China is using a grey zone blockade strategy to destroy the old and being controlled by the BRP Sierra Madre and to control the Ayung-in Shoal.
01:56 This is proof of the water cannon bombing and Chinese Coast Guard's blockade of our ships.
02:04 "The ship, BRP Sierra Madre, is visibly deteriorating and becoming structurally unsound.
02:11 None of us in this room know when it will become uninhabitable, when it may break up, when it might slide off the shoal, when perhaps China could move in to rescue the Philippine sailors who are stationed there and all of a sudden gain control of the shoal."
02:30 According to another expert, joint patrols in the West Philippine Sea with all countries could help in resupply missions.
02:40 "Our supply ships should really push through and maybe this is where we can maximize joint patrols and be shepherded by allies and friends as we resupply.
02:59 Not for the cause of war but simply exercising our own rights based on international law and a military facility that is within our exclusive economic zone."
03:12 On August 22 to 24, the Philippines will hold a re-talk between the countries in ASEAN and China regarding the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea.
03:23 Retired Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio will be given the right to our occupied territory.
03:33 "We will not agree to a COC that excludes the arbitral award. Let's go there but state our position."
03:41 Patrick De Azos for the Morning Show of the Philippine nation, Rise and Shine, Philippines.
