00:00 >> We've asked a couple of people just about the heat.
00:02 How do you view it?
00:03 Colin Sanders was saying he loves it, which is sort of a shocking thing.
00:10 How do you view the heat?
00:11 Do you personally get the same amount of stuff done, or is it harder?
00:15 How do you see it?
00:16 >> I wouldn't say it's fun.
00:19 I wouldn't say I like it, but I use that more as a,
00:23 I'm gonna be ahead of most teams type of thing.
00:27 Not a lot of guys and teams are practicing in the same sort of heat and
00:30 humidity that we are.
00:32 So I'd like to see that more as an advantage and
00:35 a way of kind of overcoming adversity.
00:37 But it does make us closer.
00:40 We know that we're gonna be going through it every single day,
00:42 regardless of what the practice schedule might look like.
00:46 It's not necessarily fun, but it does make us better.
00:51 >> Look, there's been a lot of talk about maybe training camp might move next year.
00:55 If somebody gave you the choice, would you rather do it here, or
00:57 would you rather do it someplace like maybe where you train with Ohio State,
01:02 where obviously the weather's different?
01:03 Would you care, or would you have a preference?
01:05 >> Well, there's so many amenities here.
01:08 We got access to all the treatment, recovery, everything here.
01:11 So it would be nice to stay here, but then again,
01:14 getting away from the heat would also be nice.
01:17 That's not my decision.
01:19 I will be okay with whatever.
01:22 >> Pete, with the Demario not being in there, are the calls different?
01:26 Are you making the calls?
01:28 Are you still doing the same role as if Demario would be in there?
01:31 Or how is that changing?
01:33 >> It depends on the day.
01:34 I would say one thing,
01:35 it's different not having Demario out there on the practice field.
01:37 Guys like myself and a few other players on the team have to bring the juice.
01:42 We gotta bring the energy.
01:44 But I wouldn't necessarily say the calls are changing, but
01:47 there might be instances where I might have to make the play, or
01:50 some other guys might have to step up and take that leadership and that role.
01:54 Just whatever the coach is asking.
01:57 >> So you're primarily still playing well, but there's Mike days, or
02:01 there's Mike sessions, or whatever?
02:02 >> It depends on the practice day, whatever the coaches need me to do.
02:06 I might have to do that, do other things.
02:08 Just trying to participate in the role that they'll want me to do.
02:12 >> And then obviously it's giving you an opportunity to work with Demario,
02:15 to work with Zach, to work with Nephi.
02:17 Are those snaps really valuable for these guys, are you seeing them take advantage?
02:22 >> Very, very valuable.
02:24 I would say versatility piece is huge on this defense.
02:27 Knowing one position is not what our coaches are asking for us.
02:31 Knowing few help us, it helps us understand more positions on the defense,
02:37 which lead us to understand the whole focus of the defense and
02:43 where everybody fits, so I think it's huge to know everybody's position.
02:48 Not only one, focus on one,
02:51 because I think it makes you better at your position knowing what other people do.
02:55 >> What do you like about what Demarco's been able to show in his first fall off
02:59 season?
03:00 >> Yeah, Demarco, he's improved a lot.
03:02 I would say vocally, he's gotten a lot better.
03:04 We obviously know he can run and he's physical, but
03:09 the mental side of it has slowed down for him.
03:12 So I'm excited to see him grow, but once he's gotten better here,
03:18 and I think once he fully takes care of that, he's gonna grow and play better.
03:24 >> Peter, you know it's a big difference in the interior defense line,
03:26 guys in front of you, as far as how they are playing in front of you.
03:30 >> The difference, I would say yes.
03:32 And I would say that us as linebackers are getting a better feel for
03:37 how they play.
03:39 We obviously had David Onyata and Shai Tao, those guys last year.
03:43 But we got different guys and we got a playoff event.
03:46 So there is a difference, but I think knowing what we have ahead of us,
03:52 it's important for us.
03:55 So just getting those reps is huge, and
04:00 I think that just getting the rep count up is helping us to see where they play,
04:06 for us to eventually make plays.
04:09 >> Can you notice more athleticism from those guys and maybe some of the fast?
04:13 >> I can see that, yeah.
04:14 We're starting to get some movement and pass rush from them,
04:16 which is also, I know, was a big focus for us.
04:19 Get that interior pass rush going.
04:21 But just some speed in some of these run fits I see as well.
