Manila will "never abandon" a Philippine-held shoal in the disputed South China Sea, an official said Monday, after the China Coast Guard allegedly blocked and water-cannoned a re-supply operation to Filipino troops.
"For the record, we will never abandon Ayungin Shoal. We are committed to Ayungin Shoal," National Security Council spokesman Jonathan Malaya told reporters, using the Philippine name for Second Thomas Shoal in the Spratly Islands. (Video Courtesy of AFP)

00:00 We are here precisely to reassure the Filipino people that as directed by our president,
00:09 we are consistent with the president's directive during the SON, that we will not lose an inch
00:14 of our territory.
00:15 For the record, we will never abandon Ayungin Shoal.
00:19 We are committed to Ayungin Shoal.
00:20 Onclus and the 2016 Arbitral Award have made clear that the Philippines exercise sovereign
00:26 rights and jurisdiction on Ayungin Shoal, a low tide elevation within the Philippines'
00:31 exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
00:35 China has no right or legal basis to prevent us from exercising such sovereign rights and
00:42 jurisdiction.
00:43 And we will not be able to do that.
