00:00 AFL umpire Brett Roseberry hits the training track ahead of tonight's clash between the
00:06 Bulldogs and the Tigers.
00:08 When the opening siren sounds at Dockland Stadium, he'll officially break the record
00:12 for the most games umpired.
00:14 Not something I ever thought when I started umpiring 24 years ago, that I'd be here umpiring
00:20 game number 503.
00:21 I'm pretty blown away that I've been able to last this long.
00:26 He'll overtake Shane McInerney, who he's worked alongside for 20 years.
00:30 He's well respected within AFL circles and I think it's that respect and his hard work
00:36 and dedication that has seen him being able to umpire for as long as he has now.
00:41 Brett thinks the game is in a healthy state, but wants to see more people take up his craft.
00:45 I would encourage anyone out there that loves the game or thinks I'd like to be involved
00:51 in the game to give it a go because it's actually a lot more fun than what people might
00:56 perceive it to be.
00:57 The current record holder is getting ready to congratulate his close mate.
01:01 I might even have to drop him a cheeky text message just to let him know that now it's
01:05 a four umpire system, he can set the high water mark for himself.
01:09 Shane's got to hang on to something.
01:14 Regardless whether four umpires came in or not, I probably still had two or three years
01:18 left in me.
01:19 Calling play on, on his own career.
