Whitby dog baker shares why she left life in London.
Transcript
00:00 Whitby, probably one of the most dog-friendly places on the planet.
00:05 But it was the sand and the seed that lured one London barrister to change her stressful
00:11 life and move to the Yorkshire coast to set up her own dog bakery.
00:17 Following a scary heart attack, she has set up a doggy haven full of homemade biscuits,
00:24 toys and this is the place where the dogs are royalty.
00:30 So can you tell me about these biscuits that you make?
00:34 Well all our dog biscuits are all natural, there's no additives, there's no preservatives.
00:39 They are actually all vegan. So whether or not you're pro-dogs being vegan, we just had
00:43 so many doggies that had an issue with eating animal protein that we figured out, okay,
00:49 let's figure out a way how to make vegan dog biscuits.
00:52 And how do you make these without giving the full recipe away?
00:56 Well it's pretty much exactly the same as you'd make human biscuits but there's no salt,
01:00 no sugar and no fats or eggs in it. So you just kind of have to adapt them but it is
01:06 basically just flour, yeast and the fruit or vegetables of choice.
01:11 And you left the kind of busy life of London to move here to Whitby to set up this shop.
01:17 What's life been like since?
01:19 Much calmer, much more relaxed than in London. Yeah, it's a different pace of life.
01:25 It did take me a while to kind of adjust to things not being open at 6 o'clock in the morning
01:29 to go and get an espresso somewhere. But no, it's a much kinder, much calmer pace of life.
