Am I a Drama Queen - with singer Idina Menzel
Transcript
00:00 Hi, it's Idina Menzel here.
00:01 I'm here with The Evening Standard,
00:03 and we're going to find out how much
00:04 of a drama queen I really am.
00:06 Although, I should say that I'd like to reclaim
00:13 the word drama queen, because I think it's wonderful
00:15 to be a drama queen.
00:16 I think it's amazing to have big, bold feelings
00:19 and to be passionate and fiery and vulnerable and sensitive,
00:24 and that's what makes us who we are.
00:26 That's what makes us interesting.
00:29 (upbeat music)
00:31 I would want to grab the nearest shoe and smack it,
00:34 but I won't.
00:35 I will somehow get it into a plate or a bowl or a box
00:40 and put it outside.
00:41 Oh, I let it slide because I'm always late.
00:49 I think my biggest pet peeve is when my husband
00:55 leaves his dental floss on the sink.
00:57 (laughs)
00:59 Well, you probably only have eight seconds
01:02 before you sing your song in front of all of A-list
01:07 Hollywood and the world, so you first feel sorry
01:12 for yourself in the first two seconds,
01:14 then you tell yourself to get over it,
01:17 you breathe, and then you sing,
01:19 and then you realize that it's probably one
01:23 of the greatest things that ever happened to you,
01:25 because everyone that knew you loves you
01:28 and supports you and feels sorry for you,
01:32 and everyone that didn't know you now knows you.
01:34 Mm. (laughs)
01:40 I get really annoyed, but I'm a hypocrite
01:42 because every night my husband falls asleep before me
01:46 'cause I'm a late night person.
01:48 I have that sort of theater thing in me,
01:50 and he goes to bed early and he'll fall asleep.
01:53 That's another pet peeve, by the way,
01:55 but then I always watch a million and go ahead of him.
02:00 I usually let them go, for lack of a better term.
02:05 I take a breath and try to decide what's important in life,
02:12 and that's one of those battles
02:13 that I don't think I need to fight.
