00:00 Good morning, Zinger Nation. Today is Thursday, August 3rd. Thursday the 3rd in 2023. There's
00:10 a lot of threes going around. Well, Thursday, not really a three, but, you know, kind of
00:14 sounds like it. Anyway, you get the gist. I am not joined by Mr. David Willick today.
00:21 He is out for today. And we're actually going to be out for tomorrow. Producer Aslee taking
00:26 a little time off, which will be great. So we will actually be catching you on Monday.
00:30 So this is last stocks to watch for the week. But we'll be back on Monday. I'm looking forward
00:36 to seeing you again then. But we've got some good, fresh ideas for you right off the BentSinger
00:41 Pro News Desk this morning. Important ones to be looking at, important earnings. We're
00:45 getting back to earnings. I know we had a fun day yesterday, but we've got stocks that
00:49 you got to have on your list if you're invested in them, if you're in the industries. And
00:54 then we'll get you back out to your trading day. We'll do a little quick one this morning.
00:58 Stock to watch number one, we've got Amazon. That's ticker A-M-Z-N. Number two is Qualcomm.
01:04 That's ticker Q-C-O-M. Number three is Apple, ticker A-A-P-L. Number four, we've got PayPal.
01:12 That's ticker P-Y-P-L. And stock to watch number five is the Kellogg Company with ticker
01:17 K. Starting right off with Amazon. They are going to be posting their quarterly earnings
01:23 after the closing bell. You got to tune in if you're invested in Amazon. If you're looking
01:27 at the consumer industry, the eCommerce industry, tune into these earnings calls, folks. I think
01:34 I know I harp on it a lot, like listen to the earnings calls, but you get a lot from
01:38 listening to management, understanding what's going on, hearing about future guidance. If
01:44 you just see the briefs that come out after an earnings call, it just says, "Okay, revenue
01:49 beat, revenue miss, earnings beat." You get the stats, but I really think if you're, at
01:55 least for me, I really, really like to listen, actually listen in on earnings calls if I'm
01:59 invested in the tickers or if I just, if they're big companies like Amazon and some of the
02:05 other ones on the list, would just really recommend at least, even if you don't tune
02:09 in, even if you say, "No, no, Mike, I'm not going to listen to the advice." That's okay.
02:14 You don't have to tune in, but at least know that Amazon is going to be reporting their
02:18 earnings tonight, well, this evening after the closing bell. So expect some movement
02:23 after hours and then pre-market tomorrow. Expect a lot of news. Who knows? Maybe there's
02:28 going to be some announcements and things, maybe not, maybe there won't be much news,
02:31 but 100% got to be watching these stocks.
02:35 Number two is another big one. That's Qualcomm, ticker QCOM, one of the really big chip manufacturers
02:43 up there with the likes of Intel, with the likes of Nvidia, these big companies. But
02:48 Qualcomm, specializing in cell phone chips, they're well known for their Snapdragon chip
02:55 sets. They reported better than expected earnings for their third quarter. While sales were
03:00 remissed estimates, Qualcomm shares declined almost 7% after hours yesterday, down to 120.
03:05 Now down even more, another 10% pre-market this morning. Big downward move for Qualcomm.
03:11 I know we were just talking about this yesterday, I think, and maybe a few days ago. Seems like
03:17 yesterday. We've been talking about this over the last couple of weeks of, okay, maybe the
03:21 chip manufacturers, the semiconductor industry, maybe the expectations have sort of reset
03:26 after we saw the huge Nvidia move. We've seen some pretty good, but nothing crazy earnings
03:32 calls from some of their competitors and stocks seem to be doing all right. Not necessarily
03:37 the case for Qualcomm. An interesting one with better than expected earnings, but missing
03:42 sales, maybe some shaky guidance, maybe some, if you listen in, maybe you hear how the voice
03:48 of the executives are doing this. I know that there was actually an analyst fund out there
03:53 that programmed an AI to detect the subtle cues and the voices of the executives and
04:00 would make pretty much calls on whether it's a buy or sell based on that. So check out
04:05 the human element of the actual earnings calls. But for whatever reason, Qualcomm having a
04:09 big downward move yesterday and today. Sales, that's important for a company like this,
04:14 even if they're getting a little more profitable, if their sales are not doing well, especially
04:18 in relation to the other big semiconductor companies, the other big chip set companies,
04:23 not good news for Qualcomm. Stock to watch number three is Apple. That's ticker AAPL.
04:29 Another classic right up there with Amazon, the biggest company in the world, publicly
04:33 traded anyway, to have earned expectations about a dollar nine per share on revenue of
04:39 $74.24 billion for the latest quarter. They're also going to be reporting results after the
04:45 markets close. So here's the thing, if you're gauging between Apple and Amazon, maybe you
04:50 listen to them both at the same time. I don't know. I think it's probably better to listen
04:55 to one and really focus in. But that's an important decision to make. All of these A
05:00 name stocks, Apple, Amazon, they're reporting today another 100% one to watch. Apple, I
05:07 mean, it's a huge constituent of the NASDAQ of this. You got to, this is one that if you're
05:12 not listening in tonight, better have a good reason not to, I think anyway. And we've seen
05:19 Apple do pretty darn well in the last few quarters. We've seen Apple become the giant
05:25 that it is the last few years, the grand constituent of the markets, 100% a stock to watch, especially
05:34 for a crucial earning season. Stock to watch number four, we've got PayPal Holdings, that's
05:39 ticker PYPL. They reported upbeat earnings and sales results for the second quarter,
05:44 but saw a pretty sequential decline in active accounts with shares falling over 7% in the
05:51 after hours trading session to a little under $68 per share. An interesting one here where
05:58 a company can do well in terms of the monetary side, but if their core business, which is
06:05 the number of active accounts, it's the number of people actually using their system, their
06:09 app is not doing well, Wall Street is going to react as I think they should. Now we're
06:15 seeing more, a farther downward move down to about $66.70 per share pre-market this
06:21 morning. PayPal not doing too hot, even with beating the numbers. I think that's a great
06:28 little tidbit right there. If you just see the blurb come out as soon as the earnings
06:34 call starts or whenever they announce the numbers, you might think, "Oh, wow. All right.
06:38 Great. Upbeat earnings and sales results. Cool." But maybe you miss a little bit more
06:44 of the context. The decline in active accounts, a huge deal for PayPal. I know we often talk
06:49 as well about Roblox when they announce their user figures, a similar situation here. If
06:55 you're losing accounts, sales and earnings probably going to be affected downstream,
07:00 but we'll have to see what PayPal does to combat that in the future.
07:05 Ticker number five, we've got the Kellogg company. That's ticker K, and they are going
07:10 to be reporting quarterly earnings. Expectations are about $1.11 per share on revenue of a
07:15 little over $4 billion. Kellogg shares rose a little bit after hours yesterday. Another
07:22 really big, crucial constituent in the economy, the food sector. If you are invested in or
07:29 looking at the food sector, especially domestic United States food sector, Kellogg is one
07:33 of the big companies to watch. Definitely one of the earnings calls to listen in on
07:39 if you are in the sector, or even if you just want, glean a little insight into where the
07:44 economy is going. I know we've seen, we're in this interesting time where it seems like
07:48 inflation is dialing down. It seems like the economy is doing better. There's still some
07:54 expectations of trouble ahead. There's still a lot of uncertainty. So listening in and
08:00 seeing how executives of these companies are approaching the future, very, very valuable.
08:05 All right, we'll go back over the list. We'll get you out to your trading day. It's 9 30.
08:11 Markets are open. Stock to watch number one, that's Amazon ticker AMZN. Number two, we've
08:16 got Qualcomm. That's QCOM. Number three, we've got Apple with AAPL. Number four is PayPal.
08:24 That's PYPL. And number five is the Kellogg company. That's ticker K. Hope everyone has
08:30 a wonderful Thursday, a fantastic rest of your week, a wonderful weekend as well. And
08:36 we'll be catching you on Monday. Have a great one, guys.
