00:00 Hello everyone and welcome to a new episode of Surprise Guest with Pia Arkangel.
00:07 We'll be having a new surprise today and a new guest which means a new unexpected conversation.
00:11 So I'm super excited to find out who we'll be joining today.
00:15 I'll be receiving clues and I was told that I will be receiving pictures.
00:20 And we'll show you each picture on our video component.
00:25 First picture will be part of his name. Ah him! Okay, I have a clue already.
00:30 Oh no, what is this picture? Is this steel? Is it a steel bar?
00:34 Ah, it's like a steel rod. Okay.
00:37 Our second picture is sun.
00:40 And then our third pick, we have a rod and sun.
00:44 My heart rate is increasing here. I'm nervous.
00:46 Flowers. Rod, sun and flowers.
00:51 Ah, okay, I get it. Rod, sun, sun.
00:58 Rodson Flores, let's bolt in. Yes!
01:02 Hello, Pia. Good morning.
01:05 Good morning. I had a hard time there, Rodson.
01:08 Because I thought it was Rodsoon.
01:10 I didn't think of it. It's Rodson.
01:12 Hi, Rodson. How are you?
01:14 I'm good. I'm laughing while you're talking.
01:18 Did you feel my nervousness there?
01:20 Yes.
01:21 How are you? Looking so fresh.
01:23 You too.
01:24 Oh, thanks.
01:25 I didn't know I have a compliment.
01:28 Rodson, how are you? You finished taping, right?
01:31 Ah, yes.
01:32 And so now, you're watching it every night.
01:35 It's like you're relaxed when you're watching it.
01:37 Yes, yes. Sometimes I'm with Miguel, Matt Lozano, and Isabel.
01:44 We're watching the party together online.
01:47 That's cute. What are you commenting?
01:50 Like, "Hey, you're good at this."
01:52 Yes, sometimes we laugh at each other.
01:54 "Hey, what's that?"
01:56 Really?
01:57 So who's the most harsh? Not harsh, but who's the most critical of you?
02:02 The most critical?
02:03 Yes. Is there anyone like that?
02:04 I feel like, you know, it's embarrassing for each other to say...
02:09 Maybe only Direk Mark can be the one to criticize the truth.
02:13 Yes, yes. And Little Joe.
02:15 And he's really...
02:17 But Raph Raffey still doesn't have a mouth.
02:22 He doesn't have a filter.
02:24 No, he doesn't have a filter.
02:26 He's telling us that you usually prank each other on the set.
02:30 Although Miguel is usually the one who gets pranked, right?
02:33 Yes, in the interview, Raph said, "Who's the most annoying?"
02:38 And he answered, "Miguel because he's always..."
02:41 Oh, so it's true. So it's not just one person who said it, but you two already said it.
02:45 Yes.
02:48 But Radson, congratulations because Valk + 5 is doing so well.
02:52 And you really talked to each other, you watched each other.
02:55 Your giant inflatable has already arrived in America.
02:59 We reported it on the news. Did you see it?
03:01 Yes, I saw it.
03:02 Even on the GMA main, I think it was posted on the news.
03:07 It's been there for a day. It's a shame I didn't see it.
03:09 But you know, I feel like we're close because every night I see you on the elevator of the GMA.
03:15 The one that looks like a standee.
03:18 Oh, yes.
03:20 So every time I go in at night, I say, "Hi, guys."
03:24 Yes, I put it next to the elevator.
03:28 Every time I go in before I go home, you're the one I see on the GMA.
03:32 So you're the one who says, "Hello, goodbye" to the people who arrive.
03:35 We're even wearing blue.
03:38 Yes, we're matching today.
03:40 Radson, how does it feel?
03:42 It's like you're enjoying the success of VOTE + 5.
03:46 It's fun to feel like you're done shooting and you're just enjoying it.
03:50 Because before, while you were on UBR or you were on a show, you were still shooting.
03:56 Actually, this is my first series.
03:59 So I've never experienced it before.
04:01 While I was on a show, I was also taping.
04:04 So I don't really gauge the feeling.
04:07 But I could say that it's just a nice, petty feeling.
04:11 Just watching you or just a promotion.
04:14 You're talking to other fans.
04:16 You're always interacting with them at night.
04:18 On Twitter, on Instagram.
04:20 It's just a nice feeling. It makes your heart beat.
04:23 So it's kind of relaxed, right?
04:25 Yes.
04:26 But what's your feeling?
04:27 Because you said that this is your first series.
04:30 And it's a huge show.
04:32 It's a huge program.
04:33 Very high profile.
04:35 Prime time.
04:36 What was your reaction when you found out that you were chosen as Mark Gordon?
04:40 Oh my, Miss Pia.
04:41 If you only knew, I was so nervous.
04:43 Excitement and nervousness are mixed.
04:46 Because there's a feeling of immense pressure as a newbie actor.
04:50 There's also excitement because it's your dream job.
04:54 To be an actor, to make people happy, to experience different lives.
04:58 But there's still the pressure that you'll get.
05:01 Because it's one of the most budgeted series of GMA.
05:05 Seven years in the making.
05:07 The planning, production.
05:09 But I'm glad that they're there.
05:11 Direct, Miss H, Miss D, and my close castmates.
05:15 They really helped me to handle the pressure.
05:19 Tell us, Radson, how did you get to VOLTAS 5?
05:23 Did you audition?
05:25 Or did you call to try and audition for this?
05:29 How did you get the role?
05:30 After Starstruck Season 7, I auditioned for VOLTAS 5.
05:35 I love anime. I love those kinds of things.
05:39 I really need to get this.
05:41 I auditioned.
05:42 We had a lot of castmates.
05:44 I think we were 30 plus.
05:46 I was an annex in a room in GMA.
05:49 And the first person I wanted to audition for was Zardoz.
05:55 Because I like the Konrabina-Konrabina role.
05:58 When I entered the room, the director said,
06:01 "No, you'll be playing Mark Gordon."
06:04 I was like, "Oh, okay."
06:06 I got the script and memorized it in a different language.
06:09 When I got the role, I already studied Mark Gordon.
06:14 And I saw how deep his character is.
06:18 I fell in love with the idea of playing Mark Gordon.
06:22 And it just kept going.
06:23 Was that a lot of callbacks?
06:25 Was it just one audition? Or did you have to go back and forth?
06:28 I had two callbacks.
06:30 In my last callback, I was told that I was going to audition for another guy.
06:35 But I didn't know who it was.
06:37 It's better if you don't know.
06:39 Because you might get to know him and it'll be awkward.
06:42 Awkward, awkward.
06:44 So after the second callback,
06:47 you found out that you were going to play Mark Gordon?
06:51 Yes, after the second callback.
06:53 Actually, it wasn't that.
06:55 There was a third callback.
06:58 But there was no audition part for it.
07:00 I found out when I was with Miguel in the meeting room.
07:05 And they said that we were going to play as Faultless Five.
07:09 And then, yes!
07:11 Wow!
07:12 Really? That's when you found out?
07:13 You found out at the same time that you were going to play the cast?
07:17 No, I don't think so.
07:19 Because, for example, Isabel, I think she was surprised.
07:25 But I found out at the same time.
07:27 We found out at the same time.
07:29 That's so nice!
07:31 That's so cute!
07:33 But when you found out that you were going to play Mark Gordon,
07:36 and then inexplicably, because it was pre-pandemic, right?
07:39 Yes, pre-pandemic.
07:41 And then, when did you start the actual shoot?
07:44 Was it during the pandemic or was there a little shoot before the pandemic?
07:47 It was during the pandemic that we started.
07:50 So there was a part where the shoot was delayed
07:53 because of the drawbacks that the pandemic gave us.
07:56 Because we still had to lock in.
07:58 Did you have a hard time with lock-in?
08:00 I interviewed a lot of people during the pandemic
08:02 and they said that they had a hard time with lock-in.
08:04 Especially at the start, right?
08:06 Because before you started taping, you were locked in for a few days.
08:10 Then taping, and before you were released, there was still a little quarantine period.
08:15 Yes. For me personally, I really had a hard time
08:18 because I'm not the type of person who can stay away from home
08:23 for more than 3 to 5 days, unless it's vacation.
08:27 So the quarantine before lock-in, it took around 10 days.
08:31 So that's when I started having a hard time.
08:34 I was already homesick.
08:36 But what really pushed me was the excitement and the passion
08:40 that I really needed to do this because I really wanted to.
08:44 That's what I was really thinking back then.
08:46 So it really helped me to be homesick.
08:49 And Miguel and the others were there too.
08:51 Every day, we'd call each other, we'd read scripts, we'd eat.
08:56 The bond that we built with Voltex 5 was really different
08:59 because we were together for more than 3 years.
09:03 Think of us as high school classmates.
09:06 That's the bonding that we really built.
09:10 So until now, we're still close to each other.
09:13 And when we go out, our trip is wakeboarding.
09:17 So we always go out.
09:19 They're Matt, they're Isabel, and Miguel.
09:22 So you were together for almost 3 years.
09:24 I love how you described it, that you're like batchmates.
09:27 It's like you're classmates in school.
09:29 When you're locked in, it's like you're in a dorm.
09:31 Are your rooms next to each other?
09:33 Or is it like that?
09:35 Yes, it's like that.
09:37 It's like a boarding school.
09:40 It was hard at the time.
09:43 Room hopping was prohibited.
09:45 So what we did was,
09:47 for example, we'd go out by ourselves.
09:51 We'd say, "Let's go out for a bit, even if there's a door."
09:53 We'd open the door and look around.
09:55 "Hello, hello."
09:56 We'd throw food because we ran out of supplies.
10:01 "Here's a chicharro."
10:03 We'd throw it far away.
10:05 That's the start.
10:06 That's the ECQ time, or MECQ time.
10:09 Yes, it's MECQ time.
10:11 You said you do wakeboarding.
10:13 Who was the first one to say, "Let's try this"?
10:15 It was my birthday last May 17.
10:18 Happy birthday!
10:19 Thank you, thank you.
10:20 I was 24.
10:21 You're 24 already?
10:22 Wow, that's not obvious.
10:24 I set up wakeboarding.
10:27 I just wanted to try it again because I used to wakeboard.
10:30 I thought they might enjoy it.
10:32 I was surprised.
10:33 It was Miguel and Matt.
10:35 They're already veterans in wakeboarding.
10:37 They're good.
10:38 It's been a while since they started.
10:40 It was 2013.
10:41 They started wakeboarding at the same time.
10:44 It continued after our first session.
10:48 We talked about it.
10:49 "Do you want to do it again next week?"
10:51 We went back to it.
10:54 But hold on, Radson.
10:55 You said you don't like being away from home for more than 3 to 5 days
10:59 unless it's vacation, right?
11:01 Who's with you at home?
11:02 Your parents? Your siblings?
11:04 Or are you alone at home?
11:06 Right now, I'm at my parents' house.
11:09 But most of the time, since there are a lot of promotions and workshops,
11:15 I go home to my condo near GMA.
11:18 So even if normally you live alone,
11:20 if you're locked in and you're not familiar with the surroundings,
11:23 it still has an effect on you.
11:25 Yes.
11:26 I recently moved to a condo.
11:29 I also had an adjustment period where I got homesick.
11:33 But I really need to practice being independent.
11:39 But sometimes, I go home when I miss my family.
11:43 So now, you're living independently.
11:45 So your time in the lock-in,
11:47 you're preparing for this chapter in your life of independent living.
11:52 I feel like I was possibly prepared when I wasn't noticed.
11:56 Because we're also alone in the rooms.
11:59 What's your biggest adjustment now
12:01 that you're living alone in a condo?
12:03 Biggest adjustment?
12:05 Cooking, washing, cleaning?
12:07 I'd have to say the food.
12:09 Actually, that's it.
12:11 Because I got used to it here at home.
12:14 We always have food.
12:17 When I first moved, I was the one who prepared breakfast.
12:22 We also have this thing where I'm too lazy to cook.
12:26 So what I do is I go downstairs.
12:29 The condo is downstairs.
12:31 It's near a carendare.
12:33 I eat there because I'm too lazy to cook.
12:36 I wish I could have breakfast.
12:38 I just woke up and I want to have coffee.
12:41 But you're still getting plus points because you really tried to cook.
12:46 I just cooked eggs.
12:50 I thought you're making adobo or caldereta.
12:53 I also tried to make lunch and dinner.
12:58 But I can't say it's delicious.
13:00 It's just for the advantage.
13:04 Yes, just to get through.
13:07 Shucks. I think the girls who are listening to us
13:10 heard that you tried to cook adobo or caldereta.
13:14 Plus 1000 poggy points for you.
13:17 Really? I thought I was the only one who expected that.
13:20 I think girls like it more when they cook.
13:24 Not because it's for their partner.
13:27 It's just self-enlightenment.
13:29 "This is delicious. I cooked it."
13:31 That's what I thought.
13:33 I can't say that's true for all girls.
13:35 Because I don't have that feeling.
13:38 You don't like to cook, right?
13:41 I don't like to cook.
13:44 Because it's just for the advantage.
13:46 It's not delicious.
13:48 I just have eggs and rice as my specialty.
13:52 Fried rice.
13:54 We're the same.
13:56 What else did you discover about yourself
13:59 when you're alone at home or in a condo?
14:02 Do you clean everyday?
14:03 Is it you who needs to get up and clean your bed?
14:06 No.
14:08 My schedule for cleaning is either
14:13 when it's messy, I'll clean it.
14:16 But my routine is every Sunday, I'll clean.
14:21 Because there are times when
14:23 for example, when I have work,
14:26 I need to leave right away.
14:28 When I get home, I'm already tired.
14:30 So I skip the time
14:32 when I can clean the room.
14:35 So what happens is,
14:36 on Sundays, usually,
14:38 the chance is high because there's no work.
14:40 That's when I'll clean.
14:42 Or when it's really messy,
14:44 my eyes are really sore.
14:46 I can't really do it anymore.
14:48 I'll just clean it.
14:50 I like your schedule.
14:51 When it's messy, I'll clean.
14:53 I think that's my son's schedule for cleaning.
14:57 So you're the only one who cleans.
15:00 No one else helps you.
15:02 Sometimes, I'll do it.
15:05 When I can't do it anymore,
15:07 and I still have work on Sundays,
15:09 I'll hire someone to clean.
15:13 You'll hire someone to clean.
15:16 I'll need a backup.
15:19 So now, since you're at your parents' house,
15:23 when you get home,
15:24 you can bring home a lot of food
15:25 and put it in the freezer.
15:27 I can, but I'm shy.
15:29 I'm shy.
15:31 Don't be shy.
15:32 Your parents want that.
15:33 Until now, when I go to my parents' house,
15:36 I'm still taking home.
15:38 No fail.
15:40 My grandmother or my father always brings me home.
15:46 My mom works abroad.
15:48 So I'm always with my dad.
15:51 But my grandmother's house is nearby.
15:54 So I go there sometimes.
15:56 I always ask,
15:58 "Do you have food in the condo?
16:01 Can I eat here?
16:03 I'll give you this and that."
16:05 I'm like, "No, it's okay."
16:07 I'm shy.
16:09 I want self-satisfaction
16:13 that I can live independently.
16:16 At the age of 24,
16:18 it's just the right time
16:20 for you to start living independently.
16:24 Actually, your timing is good.
16:26 For some, they can do it earlier.
16:29 For others, they want it later.
16:30 But you should feel ready
16:33 and you'll try it.
16:34 Yes.
16:35 I really don't want to...
16:38 My phase of being independent is
16:41 I force myself to put myself there.
16:45 I have a character development.
16:47 When I'm back here
16:50 in my parents' house,
16:52 I don't just want to be a burden.
16:55 I want to be able to help around the house.
16:57 I can pay bills.
17:01 I can't leave.
17:04 I'm very family-oriented.
17:07 In the future,
17:09 when I'm done soul-searching
17:12 and I have a character development in real life,
17:16 I'll come back here
17:18 and I'll be with my family.
17:20 Even if it's just a house nearby,
17:23 I can't live too far away.
17:26 I'll permanently live there.
17:28 How far away are you from your parents' house?
17:31 Maybe...
17:32 About an hour?
17:33 About two hours away.
17:34 One hour, two hours.
17:35 When there's traffic.
17:37 But let me go back to what you said.
17:39 Your mom's working abroad
17:41 and it's your dad and your grandma
17:44 that you're with here.
17:45 Are you older than your dad and grandma?
17:47 Has your mom been working abroad for a long time?
17:49 Yes, for a long time.
17:51 I think it's been 10 years or more.
17:54 When I was younger,
17:56 I grew up here on my father's side.
17:58 And then when I was in high school and college,
18:01 I grew up with my grandmother on my mother's side.
18:04 And now, I'm back here on my father's side.
18:07 I'm just moving around.
18:09 But by the time your mom went abroad,
18:11 you were a teenager.
18:12 No, I was just in grade 3.
18:15 Oh, you were in grade 3.
18:17 Was the adjustment big when your mom went abroad?
18:20 I remember crying when my mom left.
18:23 Because I wasn't used to it yet.
18:26 But my adjustment period when I was young
18:29 wasn't that heavy.
18:32 Because my dad was with me here at home.
18:35 Maybe at that time,
18:37 I didn't understand much about the life
18:40 that I was going to grow up in.
18:42 Your parents, one by one,
18:44 OFW.
18:45 Until I grew up as a teenager,
18:48 and then a young adult,
18:49 I got used to it.
18:51 My mom was working abroad.
18:52 But we were close.
18:54 I always video call her.
18:56 It's good that you have a video call.
18:58 Because the landline is different.
18:59 You only use your phone.
19:00 That's the only way to talk.
19:02 I still text her on the phone.
19:04 Then I'll send it to her.
19:06 I'll call her abroad.
19:08 I remember that in grade school,
19:10 that's what we did.
19:12 Now, it's good that we have a video call.
19:15 My reference is older.
19:16 At least, yours is a cellphone.
19:18 My reference is long distance calling
19:20 on the landline.
19:22 No, that's it.
19:24 You'll text her.
19:26 Then you'll use it on the landline.
19:27 No operator.
19:29 You'll send it directly to the phone card.
19:31 Yes, like that.
19:32 I have an operator.
19:35 You're still in the operator.
19:36 Where are you calling?
19:37 Long distance from this and that.
19:39 From the Philippines.
19:41 And it's very expensive.
19:43 Are you alone?
19:45 Do you have children?
19:47 Or do you have siblings?
19:48 Actually, I have 2 siblings.
19:50 My brother is a soldier.
19:53 My little sister is with my mom.
19:56 She's studying.
19:57 In fact, my dad and I just got home
19:59 from vacation.
20:01 We visited my brother.
20:03 He just got promoted.
20:04 He's on duty in Sulu.
20:06 Is your brother older or younger than you?
20:09 He's 2 years older.
20:11 Oh, okay.
20:12 So right after high school or right after college,
20:15 he enlisted?
20:17 Is that so?
20:18 After college,
20:20 he entered the officer candidate school.
20:23 Is your dad a former soldier?
20:26 No, he just dreamed of it.
20:29 But he didn't choose my brother.
20:31 My dad is a vet.
20:33 He's a veterinarian.
20:35 I thought you were a veteran.
20:37 You're a veterinarian.
20:39 Yes, I'm a veterinarian.
20:41 My brother just wanted to be a soldier.
20:44 Okay.
20:45 Do you get nervous
20:47 when your brother is assigned to a different place?
20:50 At first, we were nervous.
20:52 Especially my grandparents.
20:54 Because we have a stigma in Sulu.
20:58 You know, the insurgencies that happen there.
21:02 And they get scared.
21:05 I'm just the right kind of person.
21:08 You're the right kind.
21:10 You're concerned,
21:12 but you're a campante.
21:14 You're safe.
21:16 Actually, when we went there,
21:18 the place was really nice.
21:20 It was super safe.
21:22 Where did you stay?
21:23 Did you stay in a camp?
21:24 Or did you book a separate place?
21:28 We stayed in a camp.
21:30 We were with the soldiers,
21:33 the lieutenants and captains.
21:35 We were in a row in a room.
21:39 It was a trip that was eye-opening.
21:43 There was one time
21:45 when we met with an insurgency group.
21:49 I talked to them.
21:50 Actually, I was just talking to them.
21:52 Okay.
21:53 You were talking.
21:55 You talked for a long time.
21:56 Yes.
21:57 We went to their camp.
21:59 They prepared food and coffee.
22:03 We talked about life.
22:06 How was life there?
22:08 How was my work?
22:11 When you went there,
22:12 did you have a lot of people with you?
22:14 Did you have security escorts?
22:16 Or was the conversation very freewheeling?
22:20 We still had people with us.
22:22 We were in units.
22:24 I don't want to say we were just watching.
22:26 You were just with them.
22:28 We were just with them.
22:29 We were friendly.
22:31 The Philippine Army and the insurgency group were close.
22:36 Their relations were good.
22:38 They were really friends.
22:40 Okay.
22:41 Aside from meeting with the insurgency group,
22:43 did you have time to go to different spots?
22:46 Yes.
22:47 We went to four beaches in Sulu.
22:50 It was really beautiful.
22:52 The water was white.
22:54 It was like powder.
22:55 It was untouched.
22:58 There wasn't a lot of pollution.
23:01 The food was really cheap.
23:04 The seafood was really cheap.
23:07 The fish was like P100.
23:13 We bought a lot of fish.
23:17 Did you eat curacha?
23:19 I think so.
23:21 Curacha is like lobster.
23:24 Yes, it's like lobster.
23:27 I remember when we were assigned to Zamboanga for a long time,
23:31 we ate it almost every day.
23:33 The famous alabar sauce.
23:38 The alabar sauce was really good.
23:41 It was a combo.
23:43 It was really good.
23:44 It was really cheap.
23:45 You can get a lot of rice.
23:47 Yes.
23:49 I didn't go to Zamboanga because we were in the city.
23:53 But we weren't assigned to places like Sulu where there's a beachfront.
23:58 I haven't been there yet.
24:00 But my reporters told me that when they go there,
24:04 it's really beautiful because like you said,
24:06 it's untouched and there's not a lot of people.
24:09 So you can imagine what Boracay would look like before it was fully developed.
24:13 It's like that.
24:15 So you went swimming?
24:17 Yes.
24:18 We would go to the beach every day.
24:22 We would ask each other what's better.
24:24 We wouldn't talk about the ugly things.
24:27 We would always talk about what's better, this beach or that beach.
24:32 I'm getting all dark.
24:35 It's not that obvious.

25:23 Did you want to be an artist ever since you were young?
25:26 Or it just happened that there's an opportunity to be an artist and you became one?
25:32 When I was young, I didn't have any.
25:34 When I was in high school, I wanted to try.
25:39 I was introverted.
25:41 I didn't know how to start.
25:44 There were managers who were like that.
25:46 I didn't know that.
25:47 So I just joined the drama club in high school.
25:52 And the glee club.
25:53 Those two. I was in the small one.
25:55 Until I went to college.
25:57 I wanted to be a lawyer.
25:59 That's where I went.
26:01 Because I didn't know where to start to do showbiz.
26:05 Then when I graduated college,
26:08 that's where I got the opportunity.
26:10 Because I had a friend who also auditioned for Starstruck.
26:14 Who was your friend who auditioned for Starstruck?
26:16 She was my friend in high school.
26:18 Until college, she was still my friend.
26:20 So you auditioned together?
26:22 Yes.
26:23 Actually, the story is funny.
26:25 She invited me to audition.
26:27 I said, "No, you go ahead. I'll go with you to Camuning."
26:31 "But you go with me first. I'll just buy some clothes."
26:34 So I bought some clothes and I went with her.
26:37 When I got there, the papers were almost ready.
26:41 I said, "No, I just went with my friend."
26:45 I remember Ms. Paupao gave me the papers.
26:49 She said, "No, you go ahead. It's a waste."
26:51 "It's hot outside. At least it's cold there."
26:55 So that's how I got the audition.
26:57 I was a bit scared.
26:59 My excitement in high school was that I wanted to be an artist.
27:03 At the time I was auditioning, I already did it.
27:06 Hold on. Wait.
27:07 So when you didn't know how to be an artist,
27:09 you wanted to be a lawyer.
27:11 So what was your course in college?
27:13 I did legal management in college.
27:15 Wow! Legal management!
27:16 I wish that was my first choice in college.
27:19 I also wanted to be a lawyer, but I also went through a lot.
27:24 We have a lot of "something in common," Radson.
27:28 So you did legal management in UST.
27:31 Yes.
27:32 At what point did you decide that you wanted to pursue being an artist?
27:37 There was a callback.
27:39 At that time, I already filled out the application form and I already went through it.
27:43 I said, "Ah, this is hard."
27:45 What I was going to do was just apply for law school.
27:49 But that's when my interest sparked again.
27:53 I said, "Besides wanting to be an artist,
27:55 this opportunity is really a rare chance to be given."
28:00 Then I assessed the situation.
28:03 I said, "Okay, for now, I'll try being an artist."
28:07 Law school is a place where you can wait.
28:10 Maybe when I lost my drive and passion for being an artist,
28:15 I'll go back to law school.
28:17 That's true, right?
28:18 Whichever opportunity is presented to you at a particular moment in time,
28:22 that's what you will seize and grab, right?
28:24 Yes. True.
28:26 Oh, this is so cool!
28:27 I know that you did legal management in your course.
28:30 And then you have the option to go and pursue law at any point in your career.
28:36 You can also pursue it at the same time, right?
28:39 But of course, right now, you're enjoying all the perks and benefits of being in the top primetime series in the country.
28:47 I'm just enjoying it.
28:49 Yes. But hold on, do you already have a lawyer in your family?
28:53 Actually, I have a lot.
28:55 I feel like I'm one of them.
28:58 It's in my blood that I need to be a lawyer.
29:02 I have a cousin, an uncle.
29:04 I think my first lawyer was my great-grandfather, although he passed away.
29:09 He was the first lawyer in our family.
29:12 Ah, okay. But your grandparents?
29:15 No, they're business people.
29:18 What's the family business of your grandparents?
29:21 Are you familiar with Hopia?
29:26 Of course! I love Hopia!
29:28 Wait, do you have a Hopia business?
29:31 That's the business of our family.
29:34 You know the box of Hopia?
29:37 Oh my God! Is that yours?
29:39 Really? Is that your Hopia business?
29:41 Yes, it's in my family.
29:43 Wow!
29:44 It's theirs.
29:45 OMG! Of course, we all know the box of Hopia.
29:49 Wow! I'm surprised.
29:51 My favorite is their Hopia baboy.
29:53 You know, usually, kids like monggo, right?
29:58 My parents are so curious about why I like the baboy.
30:02 Because I really love Hopia baboy.
30:04 And I know the Hopia baboy of Tipas.
30:06 The Hopia baboy of Tipas is different.
30:08 Okay, I'll just give you the money. I'll send you to the jail.
30:11 Wait, thanks! But that's not the reason why I said that.
30:15 I was just happy that you have a Tipas owner because that's my favorite.
30:20 So, do you like to eat Hopia?
30:22 Because you always see it, right?
30:24 You don't want to eat it when you get home.
30:27 I don't eat Hopia. I really don't like it.
30:30 Really? At all? Because you always see it? Or you're not a type?
30:34 No. When I was young, I think I always ate it.
30:37 Although I don't remember.
30:39 But there's a new flavor that came out, the Pastillas.
30:44 That's the only time I ate Hopia. It's really delicious.
30:50 Pastillas flavor of Hopia?
30:52 Yes, that's the new one.
30:54 I'm not updated.
30:55 I miss it. It's really delicious.
30:58 Okay, I'll look for it. I was stuck with Hopia baboy. That's the only thing I ate.
31:03 So now, Rad, you're very involved in Showbiz, right?
31:11 How many years have you been in Showbiz since Starstruck?
31:14 It's been 5 years.
31:16 5 years. But it's so fast, right? Because the pandemic was counted.
31:19 The pandemic was just one long year.
31:22 Yes, I don't want to count it. It's been 5 years.
31:27 I want to remove the time of the pandemic.
31:29 I don't want to count it as a one year.
31:34 Are you excited for what's in store for you after Vault is Five?
31:38 What other roles do you want to do?
31:41 I feel like you can do it as a soldier because you were immersed a little, right?
31:47 There's a part of me that I really like the action.
31:52 I can portray the field of soldiers.
31:57 Or even if it's not really soldiers, it's just action-oriented.
32:02 And I also like the detective type of series.
32:07 Very interesting, right? Like Sherlock and you'll be solving the mystery.
32:12 Yes, like Sherlock.
32:14 That's cute. I can imagine you in that kind of role.
32:20 Really?
32:22 Yes, I can imagine. And I'm not just trying to be strong because of Hopia.
32:29 I can really imagine.
32:31 It's hard because when you're at the start or the peak of your career,
32:38 it's very hard to balance that with your personal life.
32:42 Do you have time to do the things that you like or the things that you want to do outside of work?
32:48 Actually, my hobbies ever since I was a kid, I've been playing video games.
32:56 It's easy to access my hobbies.
33:00 For example, after work, I'll just be on my computer.
33:05 I can still do my hobbies.
33:08 Sometimes, I'm with Miguel because they're playing too.
33:11 So we're usually together.
33:13 What do you play?
33:15 Shooting games. It's different.
33:17 Whatever we can play, we'll play.
33:20 I'm with Matt, Miguel, and Isabel. We're playing.
33:24 Even Isabel?
33:26 Yes, even Isabel. She's already infected.
33:30 You don't stream?
33:32 No. I used to stream.
33:34 I also streamed when I was the only one playing.
33:37 But it's hard to stream because there's a schedule.
33:44 The schedule at that time was not flexible for work.
33:49 So I didn't pursue that chapter.
33:54 Let me go back to the timeline.
33:56 Let me clarify, Radson.
33:57 Do you have time to be an artist with your studies?
34:02 Or did you graduate when you auditioned for Starstruck?
34:04 I think I auditioned for Starstruck in my second semester.
34:10 I remember that I didn't have a chance to attend the audition.
34:15 I remember that I only had a briefing for Starstruck.
34:20 After I walked to the audition, I was already there.
34:22 I went straight to the gym and did my brief.
34:25 I was already there.
34:26 Seriously?
34:27 Yes. I was already there.
34:32 I was already there.
34:34 But people might look at you.
34:37 They might think that you're still a gimmick for the audition.
34:41 That's weird.
34:44 I was already there when I auditioned.
34:47 In all your experiences so far,
34:49 I mean, at the age of 24,
34:52 you've already experienced a lot and you've tried so many different things.
34:55 What are the things that you learned that you keep close to your heart
34:59 that are your motto, mantra, or life lessons for you?
35:03 Right now, there's nothing impossible.
35:06 It's just really hard.
35:08 There's nothing impossible that you can't do.
35:12 You just need to put your passion and happiness in what you want to do.
35:19 And eventually, with hard work and patience,
35:23 you'll get it.
35:25 That's what will separate you from people who lack passion.
35:31 It's not for them.
35:33 Your dedication, hard work, patience, and passion
35:37 will really lead you to your dream job.
35:40 That's my opinion on that.
35:42 Oh, very well said.
35:43 Very beautifully said.
35:45 I feel like that's applicable to, let's say, with your personal life.
35:49 If you want to have a love life, right?
35:51 Yes.
35:52 There's nothing impossible.
35:53 Yes, you'll just have to work hard.
35:55 It's hard.
35:56 There are slumps, but you can do it.
35:58 Just be patient.
35:59 Yes, just patience.
36:01 Patience and hard work.
36:03 Just a little bit of patience.
36:05 But are you, Radson, happily single at this point?
36:12 Yes, yes.
36:13 I'm single.
36:14 I don't know if your answer is "yes, single" or "yes, happily"
36:19 or "yes, happily single."
36:21 That's why I didn't answer.
36:23 Am I happy being single?
36:26 Maybe you're working hard and being patient.
36:29 Oh, wow. No.
36:31 I'm just really focused on, right now, I'm just focusing on bonding with my family.
36:38 And then, my career is my second.
36:41 That's where I really put in a lot of effort.
36:45 It's just once in a while.
36:46 This kind of opportunity is just once in a while.
36:48 And it's also fun.
36:49 It's really fun.
36:51 Yes, and you really enjoy it.
36:53 It's different when you can focus without other distractions, right?
36:58 Yes, that's right.
37:00 It's like I'm teaching my son.
37:03 All right.
37:06 Radson, thank you so much for spending time with us.
37:09 But before we let you go, we have a surprise for you.
37:12 What did you give us?
37:14 Fast facts about Radson Flores a la slumbuk.
37:17 Did you reach the slumbuk?
37:19 Do you know what that is?
37:20 Oh, slumbuk. Yes.
37:21 That's the favorite color, favorite food.
37:24 Yes.
37:25 But the question is a bit more difficult.
37:28 No.
37:29 Just kidding.
37:31 Okay, let's start with the traditional slumbuk.
37:35 Okay, full name.
37:36 Francis Kit Radson Manalo Flores
37:40 You only have three names.
37:42 Do you have names for your grandparents?
37:45 Radson is my grandfather's name.
37:49 My grandfather's name is Rudy.
37:51 So Rudy's son.
37:52 And then Kit, I know my dad gave it to me.
37:55 It means "Bearer of Christ."
37:58 Because it's short for Christopher.
38:00 I know that Kit.
38:01 And then Francis, I know my other grandfather named him Saint Francis.
38:06 That's cute, Francis.
38:07 But what do you call him at home?
38:09 Kit.
38:10 Even if they're Miguel, I call him Kit.
38:13 So even though you were called Kit at school?
38:16 Yes, I'm really Kit.
38:18 So you used Radson for your nickname.
38:21 It's like you're calling him "Cute, Cute."
38:24 "Cute, Cute."
38:25 "Come here, cute."
38:28 So that's your nickname.
38:30 That's the next question.
38:31 Nickname Kit.
38:32 Okay, birthday. May 17.
38:34 Yes.
38:35 You remembered.
38:37 I remembered.
38:38 Happy birthday.
38:39 Hidden talent and skills.
38:41 Hidden talent and skills.
38:43 I always mention my hidden talent.
38:46 I can make my bones sound.
38:48 I make my bones sound in about 50% of my body.
38:53 Even in your hands.
38:55 My hands, my knees, my wrists, my neck.
39:02 Even in my foot.
39:03 I make my joints sound.
39:06 Favorite food.
39:08 Pork soup.
39:11 Favorite color.
39:12 Purple.
39:13 Purple.
39:14 Purple.
39:15 Does that have a meaning?
39:16 No.
39:17 Why?
39:18 It's good for the eyes.
39:19 It's like my eyes are good for the eyes.
39:21 Motto in life.
39:22 Motto in life.
39:24 Death before defeat.
39:25 Before I die, I have to do everything I want to do in life.
39:30 I have to get all the satisfaction.
39:32 Very aggressive.
39:34 It's like what you said, because nothing is impossible, you pursue what you want to pursue.
39:40 Pursue whatever you can.
39:41 Yes.
39:42 It's very in line with what you said earlier.
39:46 This is the hard part.
39:48 This is when you're at the end of the slum.
39:51 Showbiz crush.
39:52 Oh my.
39:53 Showbiz crush.
39:54 This is not a safe answer.
39:55 I'm just a crush.
39:57 I'm Ate Carla.
39:58 Ate Carla.
40:00 Abeliana.
40:01 Yes.
40:02 I'm Ate Carla.
40:04 I worked with Ate Carla in Voltez 5.
40:07 We were together.
40:08 I was with Ate Carla.
40:10 She's so kind.
40:12 She's so smart.
40:13 We had a great conversation.
40:15 It's so starstruck when she's with you.
40:18 She's so beautiful, so kind, so smart.
40:21 Ate Carla is a real person.
40:23 I like your clenarify that this is not a safe answer.
40:27 She's really my crush.
40:29 Yes.
40:30 She knows.
40:31 She probably doesn't know now.
40:33 She probably doesn't know.
40:35 I don't remember saying it in a sexy way.
40:38 You can say it after.
40:40 It's embarrassing if you say it during.
40:42 It's embarrassing.
40:43 I'm embarrassed.
40:44 Okay, next.
40:45 Showbiz idol, male or female?
40:47 Showbiz idol.
40:49 Maybe for now, it's Sir Dennis.
40:52 Sir Dennis Trilio.
40:54 I remember he made a movie, The Janitor.
40:57 He's a detective there.
41:00 He's looking for the one who stole the money from the bank or the mastermind.
41:05 I really like his performance there.
41:08 I also like the story.
41:10 Okay.
41:11 You know he's very versatile as an actor.
41:15 Yes, he's very versatile.
41:17 Great.
41:18 We can see why he's your showbiz idol.
41:21 Okay, next.
41:22 Most embarrassing moment?
41:24 Most embarrassing moment.
41:25 Most embarrassing moment.
41:27 Maybe...
41:28 I don't want to say it.
41:30 It's too embarrassing.
41:33 Information.
41:35 During college,
41:37 there was a recitation.
41:39 At that time,
41:41 the three blocks of the section were all together
41:44 because we had an exam after.
41:46 Our professor asked a question.
41:49 He's a lawyer about law.
41:50 I was so confident.
41:51 I raised my hand.
41:53 There were so many people there.
41:55 There were 100 students.
41:56 I got a batch.
41:57 When I answered,
41:59 I misunderstood the question.
42:03 I answered the question too far.
42:06 As a student who practices there,
42:10 it's so embarrassing.
42:12 The answers were not opinionated.
42:14 It was really by the book.
42:16 If you answer it that far,
42:19 what will the students think?
42:23 That's what I felt.
42:25 You can't save it.
42:27 I really couldn't.
42:29 I sat down and asked,
42:31 "What's wrong with my answer?"
42:33 My classmate said,
42:34 "You answered it too far.
42:36 You didn't ask the question."
42:38 The last time you were shocked?
42:40 I'm not sure if Karla commented
42:42 on my post on IG.
42:44 I think I commented on her picture.
42:47 She replaced Karli.
42:50 You really have a crush on her.
42:52 I'm not sure.
42:54 Next, what motivates you?
42:58 I love my family and my city.
43:02 I'm from Taguig.
43:04 I really love the passion.
43:07 I love the craft.
43:09 It's so nice to portray
43:13 different characters or people.
43:16 For me,
43:17 I have other actors I can relate to.
43:20 We just haven't talked much.
43:22 Her acting is therapeutic.
43:26 It's like she's a therapist.
43:29 It's just nice to feel that
43:32 for a moment in time,
43:34 you won't be Radson Flores
43:36 or Miss P.R.
43:38 That's how I feel.
43:39 It's a long topic.
43:42 But that's the gist of my answer.
43:44 I understand what you're saying
43:46 because I remember a lot of actors say
43:48 being an introvert
43:50 is a characteristic you find in many actors.
43:53 While people think you're supposed to be
43:55 outgoing as an actor,
43:56 the truth is a lot of actors say introverts
43:58 because you get to be somebody else
44:00 for a brief moment in time.
44:02 You're sort of hiding in a character.
44:05 Yes, that's right.
44:07 That's how I feel.
44:09 That's great.
44:10 I might be an artist.
44:12 Just kidding.
44:15 Okay, next.
44:16 What is your pet peeve?
44:18 This one.
44:19 You know when you eat
44:22 and the food served is
44:25 good for 1 to 5,
44:27 good for 1 to 3.
44:28 Yes.
44:29 And the food that you get
44:31 is in front of a certain person.
44:34 And that person is talking.
44:36 I get a bit irritated.
44:39 Most of the time,
44:40 I can't eat that.
44:41 I eat what's in the middle
44:43 of the table.
44:44 I try to get it
44:46 and I get it right away.
44:48 You'll notice that
44:50 when you get to know me,
44:52 when someone talks like that.
44:54 I look at the food
44:56 and I do this.
44:58 I want to stop the person
45:00 and I get it.
45:02 It's embarrassing.
45:03 I'll just adjust.
45:05 I'll just get the food from another table.
45:07 I love this revelation.
45:09 I'm able to relate.
45:11 But were you like that
45:13 even before the pandemic?
45:15 Or did you just become more aware
45:16 of the pandemic?
45:17 Even before,
45:19 even when I was young.
45:20 I remember when I was young,
45:22 my parents were a bit annoyed with me
45:24 because I didn't want to drink
45:26 from other people's glasses.
45:27 For example, my older brother's glass.
45:29 I won't drink from that.
45:30 I'm laughing at this revelation.
45:34 So maybe when there's a birthday,
45:36 and the birthday celebrant
45:37 will pull the candle
45:38 from the birthday cake,
45:39 you won't get it from the cake.
45:40 Cake, right?
45:41 Yes.
45:42 I just realized that.
45:44 But I still get it.
45:46 But I won't get it.
45:48 That's what we said.
45:50 I broke the birthday cake
45:52 for you.
45:53 Sorry, Radson.
45:55 I didn't mean to ruin
45:56 birthday cakes for you.
45:57 It's okay.
45:59 I'll just cut the top.
46:02 You don't have icing.
46:04 Last question for Radson Flores
46:06 from our surprise slam book.
46:08 What is love?
46:10 Baby, don't hurt me.
46:12 For me,
46:14 if you're going to say love
46:16 in a relationship,
46:17 it's like
46:18 the perfect acceptance
46:20 of an imperfect person.
46:22 That's how I feel.
46:24 Although I'm still learning
46:26 how to do it.
46:28 When a person
46:30 has mastered that mindset
46:32 that no matter what flaws,
46:34 no matter what mistakes
46:36 that person makes,
46:38 you'll still accept them.
46:40 It'll be easy in a relationship
46:42 if you're together.
46:44 To all the girls listening,
46:46 please take note.
46:48 These are Radson's philosophies
46:50 on love and life.
46:52 Radson, you know,
46:56 if you're courting someone,
46:58 send him the link
47:00 of this episode
47:02 so he'll know.
47:04 He'll know what he said.
47:06 Yes, yes.
47:08 If he's just in Adel,
47:10 he'll know what he said.
47:12 Or,
47:14 introduce me.
47:16 I'll send it.
47:18 Radson, thank you so much
47:20 for spending this time with us
47:22 for this lovely surprise.
47:24 Our conversation was fun.
47:26 I feel like
47:28 we got to know each other
47:30 in this episode.
47:32 It was relatable.
47:34 Yes, relatable.
47:36 Very relatable.
47:38 Whenever I see you
47:40 in the elevator at night,
47:42 when I enter the GMA,
47:44 I remember.
47:46 My takeaway
47:48 is that you can't eat
47:50 in front of other people
47:52 when Radson is eating.
47:54 You're the one who's talking.
47:56 Please, we're still eating.
47:58 That's why.
48:00 It's so relaxing.
48:02 It's so good to eat in front of you.
48:04 There's so much food.
48:06 You can't get enough.
48:08 Radson, thank you so much.
