00:42 the couple subjected the victim and her teenage daughter to years of torture, fear and physical
00:48 abuse.
00:49 The judge also revealed that the accused were prepared to prostitute the daughter of the
00:54 deceased for their own gain.
00:56 Justice Chin added that based on the nature of the case, he had no alternative but to
01:01 impose the death sentence on the accused in accordance with amended Section 302 of the
01:08 Penal Code for murder.
01:10 The victim succumbed to serious head and bodily injuries inflicted by both accused.
01:17 They were jointly charged with killing 38-year-old Heng Miao Lin between 10pm on October 4 and
01:22 6am on October 6, 2020, at the house in Jalan Tongsang and later disposing of the body in
01:29 Jalan Aman.
01:31 The Parag woman's body, which was stuffed in a suitcase, was found by a passerby on
01:37 October 6 the same year.
01:39 Xiao and Cheung were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with
01:45 Section 34 of the same code, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
