A couple have transformed their “boring” new build home into a pink paradise themselves in 18 months – despite being DIY novices.
Vrons, 37, and Chris Beaumont, 40, have both always have a love of colour and love dressing up and being “ridiculous”.
They moved into a two-bed new build in August 2019 and decided to paint the kitchen pink when they were bored over Christmas 2021.
Vrons was inspired by Pinterest and painted the cabinets mint green, their fridge pink and bought colourful stick on tiles to put over the existed brown ones.
After loving their results they took to transforming the other rooms into a pop of colour.
Vrons, who works in sales, and Chris, owner of Beaumont design, have done it all themselves despite only doing a tiny bit of DIY before.
Vrons, from Nottingham, East Midlands, said: “We were bored and looking for something to do.
“I said lets paint the kitchen cabinets and then it went from there.
“We hadn’t done a lot of DIY before.
“We were so happy with it.
“It escalated from there.
“It’s just paint.
“I’m not going to live in a house I don’t like just because I might sell it.
“Ridiculous – it’s our mantra.”
Vrons and Chris have now decorated nearly every room in the house in colour – and predominately in pink, blue and green – but still have the guest bedroom to do up.
The pair taught themselves DIY skills using YouTube tutorials and spent 18 months transforming the once white and brown décor to a colourful space.
Vrons said: “The guest bedroom we did that really hastily so it needs redoing – it’s a bit Mrs Hinch at the moment.
“The rest of the house is very over the top.”
Vrons favourite room is her bathroom – which was the last thing they decorated.
She transformed a brown and beige tiled room in a “mermaid bathroom” – using vinyl for around £200 for the sheet.
She said: “That’s been a massive change.
“It makes my start to the day.”
The DIY novices home project inspired Chris to start a business upcycling tables into funky designs – after losing his job in admin during the pandemic.
Vrons said: “I’d bought a plane round bedside table and he did it up as a surprise when I came back from a trip.
“I posted it on my home account and people went nuts.”
Now Chris works full time and makes 300 – 400 unique and customised tables a year.
The couple enjoy colour in every aspect of their life.
Vrons said: “We both dress very colourfully.
“We both enjoy dressing up.
“We encourage each other to be as ridiculous as possible.”
The pair even have a big neon sign which says “ridiculous” on their stairwell.
Vrons said: “It brings us joy.
“Colour for me - it’s happiness and joy. The feeling of letting go.
“Have your house how you want it. Don’t worry about what other people think.
“People say I wish I was brave enough or I wish my husband would let me do this. It makes me so sad.
“Chris and I don’t have the exact same tastes but we always find a compromise.”
The couple said guests love coming to their home.
