Ilang barangay sa Olongapo, nananatiling lubog sa baha
Transcript
00:00 Some places are flooded with water,
00:04 and some residents are having to pay for the water to ride their boats and travel.
00:11 Joshua Garcia has the story.
00:13 In the footage we got last night,
00:20 we can see that some residents in Olongapo City are already in the middle of the flood
00:24 because the water is flooding their houses.
00:29 While some barangays in the province of Bataan are still flooded.
00:33 Even though it's not raining anymore,
00:35 and the sun is shining,
00:36 it will be flooded for a week here in Daungan and Almacen
00:40 where the water can reach from Tujo to Bewang or Lampasta.
00:44 That's why the residents here are calling for help
00:47 or rice for their daily food and necessities.
00:51 According to the MDRRMO,
00:53 in more than a thousand families,
00:55 the barangays near Iloga are still flooded with water.
00:58 Most residents are used to the flood that they are experiencing.
01:02 But they hope that the government will still help them.
01:06 They are not just staying at home,
01:08 and they can't go out and make a big pot of water.
01:13 I hope they can give rice,
01:15 rice, and some help to their families.
01:21 Because our area is low,
01:23 we are the first to receive the vaccine.
01:29 I hope that they can give some support from the municipality.
01:34 I hope that they can give a big help.
01:36 Instead of increasing the daily expenses,
01:39 the residents are spending almost P100 pesos on the boat.
01:44 Especially the residents of Barangay Almacen.
01:46 Most residents of Sabah, Rivera, Palihan, Bacong, Bamban,
01:51 and other barangays near Iloga are still choosing to stay at home
01:57 or to continue with their families who live in high places.
02:02 According to the MDRRMO,
02:04 rehabilitation has already started in their area,
02:07 especially in small infrastructure that is flooded.
02:11 For example, the river banks.
02:14 We have already started sandbagging,
02:16 but the construction of the river walls that are flooded
02:21 will require additional budget.
02:24 Meanwhile, aside from the preposition of relief items
02:26 and other help that is yet to be received,
02:28 the MDRRMO is also currently conducting
02:31 the Post Disaster Needs Assessment
02:34 to ensure that all affected families are provided with the necessary supplies.
02:38 At the same time, the residents are also not willing,
02:41 especially those who live in areas where the water has deepened
02:44 and has been drained temporarily,
02:45 to receive immediate help such as medical services and relief goods if necessary.
02:51 Josh Garcia for the nation.
02:53 Bye guys.
