00:00 Prince Harry's phone hacking trial is set to move forward.
00:02 London's highest court ruled that this will be proceeding,
00:04 but the claims of decades old phone hacking
00:06 were thrown out for being filed too late.
00:08 Prince Harry's lawsuit against media magnate,
00:14 Rupert Murdoch's tabloids is officially set to proceed.
00:17 Yet the Royal is facing a big blow
00:19 after the claims of phone hacking were thrown out.
00:22 It's Daniel Lewandow reporting all the details.
00:23 The court rejected one of Harry's central arguments
00:26 for his upcoming case.
00:27 Claims that there had been a quote, "secret deal"
00:29 struck between Buckingham Palace and tabloids
00:31 to keep the group quiet on the family
00:32 have been thrown out.
00:34 Harry, the youngest of the Royals,
00:35 is suing news group newspapers
00:37 over the alleged invasion of privacy
00:39 the family suffered by tabloids, including the son.
00:42 Other tabloids named in the suit include News of the World,
00:45 which ran from the 1990s until 2016.
00:47 Now, this is just one of four cases that Prince Harry
00:50 is pursuing at the High Court against British Publications.
00:53 His hope is to hold tabloid executives
00:55 for lying and covering up what he claims to be
00:58 a wide scale of wrongdoings against the Royal family.
01:00 Harry pointed out the media has been a large demise
01:03 for his personal relationships in life,
01:05 including the 1997 death of his mother, Princess Diana.
01:08 Back in 2012, NGN apologized for alleged hacking
01:11 by its journalists and shut down due to the backlash.
01:14 But the news group has rejected the claims
01:16 that the same allegations happened by staff at the son.
01:19 And Harry's lawyer said the Prince
01:21 did not make a claim sooner due to the standing agreement
01:23 between Buckingham Palace and figures at NGN.
01:26 In addition, brother Prince William settled for a quote,
01:29 "huge sum" against NGN for the phone hacking claims.
01:32 But in the latest update for the trial,
01:34 Judge Timothy Fancourt said that he could not conclude
01:36 that there was quote,
01:37 "a sufficiently plausible evidential basis"
01:40 for Harry to allege a secret deal occurred.
01:42 But the rest of Harry's claims are set to be included
01:44 in the trial of January of next year.
01:46 Harry's legal team will now have to submit new details
01:48 of claims against NGN,
01:50 excluding the phone hacking ahead of next year's trial.
01:53 In court documents, lawyers suggest some of the hacking
01:55 took place as recently while he was dating Meghan Markle
01:58 in early stages of their relationship.
02:00 Harry claims his son instructed a private investigator
02:02 to obtain information,
02:03 including her social security number.
02:05 Harry claims that King Charles and Camilla
02:07 conspired through royal aides into planting stories
02:10 about him in newspapers as well
02:12 to enhance their reputations
02:13 or distract from any wrongdoings they may have committed.
02:16 Now this has left a lot of people divided
02:17 on their stance on Prince Harry ahead of this trial.
02:19 Back in June of 2023,
02:21 Harry became one of the first royals
02:22 for more than 130 years to give evidence in court
02:25 where he appeared as part of another lawsuit
02:28 against Mirror Group newspapers.
