00:02 All right, well, Sam diving back into the NFL and
00:05 players who were betting on it.
00:08 Another player, this time a member of the Denver Broncos suspended indefinitely.
00:13 He now is the 10th player to be suspended for gambling and
00:17 the 7th that will miss the entire football season.
00:21 So Sam, look, no predicting the future in this, but
00:23 I have to wonder if all of these things will be a deterrent for 2023.
00:28 I don't know if it'll eliminate it completely, but
00:30 I just cannot believe we keep hearing about this, honestly.
00:32 >> Yeah, it's getting kind of annoying at this point to keep hearing about guys
00:38 getting suspended.
00:39 But obviously knowing that this is all based on investigations that were ongoing.
00:44 So it's not like you're seeing guys get suspended, then guys are betting there's
00:48 no season to get punished for right now, right?
00:50 But it is pretty annoying to see the 10th guy in the past year,
00:54 pretty much since right before the Super Bowl, come out and get suspended.
00:58 It's Denver Broncos defensive end, Yume Uwazuriki.
01:03 I'm not sure if I said the last name right.
01:05 I was trying to figure out the ways to pronounce it before coming on this show,
01:09 but couldn't find much cuz he hasn't really done much since coming in the league.
01:12 Was nicknamed in college, so I guess I'll refer to him as that.
01:16 But yeah, he basically violated the league's betting policy.
01:19 There's not many details about what exactly he did, but
01:23 the suspension should give us a clue.
01:26 All the guys that weren't suspended for the full year, just six months,
01:29 like lines wide receiver Jameson Williams, were only suspended for
01:33 six months because they didn't actually bet on the NFL,
01:36 which is the biggest sort of violation.
01:39 They did something where they did online poker at a team facility or
01:43 bet on another sport at the team facility,
01:45 entered a sports book during the NFL season.
01:46 So you'd have to think that's what he did here.
01:49 But this just goes to what the NFL has been talking about.
01:51 They've been making a big push to try to educate players more.
01:56 They're trying to promote their policy.
01:58 They've added mandatory training videos for rookies,
02:01 getting the league compliance department to deliver everyone an exact document,
02:06 only detailing the betting policy since people seem to not be getting it.
02:10 Increased signage at team facilities, integrity clauses and
02:13 contracts, laying out what exactly you can't do,
02:16 which we've gone over a lot on this show.
02:19 So it seems like we're just gonna keep getting this stuff.
02:22 And next season, if something happens again, that would kind of be the really
02:27 big breaking point where maybe we'll see a big change from the league.
02:30 Goodell address it more, but yeah, yet another player suspended for
02:33 violating the NFL's gambling policy.
