00:00 Putting up the prizes and checking all the rides, preparations are underway for the 72nd
00:07 annual Royal Darwin Show and organisers are expecting a bumper crowd.
00:12 Well we estimate somewhere between 45 and 48 thousand people, that's our usual crowd.
00:17 Setting up has been smooth sailing so far with Darwin's recent cold snap an added bonus for operators.
00:24 It's been beautiful, usually I get up about 6.30 up here and you know, beat the heat but no it's been good this year, it's been a breeze coming through so it's good.
00:33 Even after 72 years the show is still finding new ways to entertain the community.
00:39 We've got rocket science for young people if you want to know how to fire a rocket into the air, we have extreme trials, we've got a wonderful indigenous collection of events called Walkabout.
00:50 Tradition is still well and truly alive at the show and every year the aim is still the same.
00:56 Just put a few smiles on dials, keep the community happy and do what we've been doing for a hundred years our family.
01:02 There's something for everyone at one of the biggest events on the dry season calendar.
01:07 If you've got the need for speed you could hop in one of these bumper cars this show weekend.
01:12 But if you prefer a more relaxing day at the show, perhaps a ride like this is more your cup of tea.
01:18 Whichever adventure you choose, the message from operators is clear.
01:23 Support the Darwin Show, we're here to thrill you not kill you.
01:25 kill you.
