00:00 (bell ringing)
00:02 - Fire's already triggered your instructions.
00:03 Once you obey my commands at all times,
00:05 protect yourself at all times.
00:07 Both your trunks are good, touch your gloves.
00:09 Let's get after it.
00:10 - Troy Isley, the Olympian from the US in Tokyo.
00:16 This is his eighth fight since he represented
00:19 the United States on the international stage.
00:21 He's on a three decision win streak
00:24 after two consecutive knockout wins.
00:26 What version of Troy Isley do you expect tonight Tim?
00:31 - We gonna see, we gonna see honestly
00:33 because he's getting better and better each time out.
00:35 That's what you wanna see from a young prospect.
00:36 You wanna see him constantly developing,
00:38 honing his skills and that's what I've been seeing
00:41 from this young man so I'm just curious to see
00:43 what he's gonna bring tonight.
00:44 Coming out aggressive, I can tell you that.
00:46 So he wants to get after it.
00:48 - Troy Isley, teammate on the US national team
00:52 with that young man, Keyshawn Davis,
00:54 who will open up our ESPN broadcast
00:57 at 10 Eastern, 7 Pacific.
01:00 The future of the lightweight division
01:02 and out of Norfolk, Virginia,
01:04 they're gonna have a viewing party
01:05 to watch this young man do his thing tonight
01:08 in the lead up to George Kambosis against Maxie Hughes
01:12 for the vacant number two spot in the IBF at lightweight.
01:16 For now, Keyshawn Davis is eight and oh
01:19 with six knockouts and every time out,
01:21 he just wants to shine just like his good friend,
01:24 Troy Isley.
01:25 They came up with Shakur Stevenson on the amateur circuit.
01:32 You could see Isley right now when he's offensive, Tim,
01:36 he is just the transformer as his nickname says.
01:39 - Yeah, that's what I like about him.
01:41 You know, that's his nature.
01:42 He likes to get in there and he likes to rumble,
01:44 you know, but they wanna tame it a bit.
01:46 That's what Al Mitchell and Kei Karoma is trying to do.
01:49 They're trying to get him to tame it
01:50 and do it in the right spots,
01:52 not just go in there reckless and throwing shots,
01:54 set it up, set traps.
01:56 You can be aggressive.
01:57 You can have your nature and have your way,
01:59 but just do it the proper way.
02:02 - There's that stick from Troy Isley
02:07 and what a beautiful jab that sets up that overhand right.
02:11 Beautiful shot right there.
02:12 You see the uppercut too from Troy Isley.
02:15 He smells blood and he's going right after Antonio Todd.
02:21 Todd taking those shots well.
02:22 He's coming back with some action,
02:23 trying to close the distance.
02:24 He didn't tie up right there.
02:26 Getting hit with some big shots.
02:29 Good inside work right there, Isley.
02:31 - And you mentioned the fact that
02:32 he wasn't turning over his shots.
02:34 He wasn't clenching his fists before.
02:36 And you see Keyshawn now ringside
02:39 to cheer on his Olympic teammate, Troy Isley.
02:43 - And Todd's gonna have to fight back.
02:47 He's gonna have to either use his feet
02:49 and get out of range and make Troy Isley miss,
02:53 or he's gonna have to fight back.
02:54 He's gonna have to compete with that tempo.
02:57 Right now, he's just taking a beating.
02:58 He's taking a beating right now.
03:00 - Amazing one-two combination
03:08 and you see the build of Troy Isley
03:11 that's pretty impressive.
03:12 And Troy Isley's been putting on impressive performances
03:15 in the ring, winning all of his fights in decisive fashion,
03:17 but Isley wasn't always considered a beast.
03:20 And he credits coach K Karoma for his transformation.
03:23 - Growing up, when I was fighting, I was real quiet.
03:29 A lot of people would overlook me, you know, before a show.
03:32 I wouldn't say the show would be boring,
03:33 but you know, when I fight, the show would be lit.
03:36 Everybody would be like,
03:37 "Oh my God, this kid's exciting."
03:39 K was just like, "We gonna call you the Transformer."
03:41 That's how I got that name.
03:43 Coach K trained me different growing up.
03:44 You know, he was very, very hard on me.
03:47 And I guess he saw something in me that was different.
03:50 He made sure that I knew that I was able to
03:53 get every different part of the game.
03:55 So, you know, when I do face a different type of opponent,
03:58 I'm able to adjust to all different styles.
04:00 When they watch me fight tonight,
04:01 I want everybody to know that Transformer
04:03 is the top middleweight prospect
04:05 that y'all really need to be looking out for.
04:07 - And Troy Isley considers K Karoma
04:12 a second paternal figure in his life.
04:14 He trained with him since age nine
04:16 at the Alexandria Boxing Club.
04:18 And here he is in his 10th professional fight,
04:21 continuing his climb as a dangerous middleweight contender.
04:26 - Yeah, you can just tell,
04:28 you can see the amateur pedigree of Isley.
04:31 He just looks so much more polished than that of Todd.
04:36 - Yeah, Todd was a wide receiver on a college scholarship,
04:43 then decided to get into boxing
04:45 a little bit later on in life.
04:47 Started boxing at age 21 at the Moussa Boxing Academy.
04:50 And here he is on ESPN+ trying to take Troy Isley's O.
04:56 - And I like what I saw from Todd.
04:57 Todd is actually sitting on his back foot,
04:59 but he's sticking his jab out there
05:01 and he just came with a nice little,
05:03 I wanna say it was a lead left hook,
05:05 and he caught Isley unexpectedly.
05:08 - Yeah, you can't just be careless in there,
05:10 and especially Isley,
05:11 who's gotta overcome a five inch reach advantage from Todd.
05:14 You can see the length of the fighter
05:16 out of Atlanta, Georgia.
05:18 - But see, just a small little usage
05:20 of his jab right there, he's keeping Isley at bay.
05:23 And every now and then he'll come around
05:24 with the sweeping left hook or a straight right hand.
05:27 - That also means that he's gotta make some room
05:33 for those long arms,
05:34 and Isley's trying to make sure
05:36 he doesn't give Todd that room.
05:40 - See, now Todd is dictating the pace.
05:42 He's coming forward right now
05:43 and he's dictating the pace,
05:44 or at least trying to, trying to make something happen.
05:47 If he gets heavy on his jab,
05:51 he will give Isley something to have to worry about.
05:55 Not letting Isley just set up shop at mid range
05:58 and do whatever he wants.
05:59 See, beautiful jab right there from the outside from Todd.
06:02 Ooh, nice right hand, catching him.
06:05 Perfect timing right there from Todd,
06:07 but then you see that relentlessness
06:09 come back from Isley.
06:11 - There's that uppercut now from Isley as well.
06:13 And you just see the vision from Isley,
06:16 the way he's bearing down on Todd,
06:18 but those long arms from Todd
06:20 are gonna give a lot of guys trouble
06:21 because five inches in the reach is not easy to overcome.
06:26 Although Isley does it there with a short right hand.
06:29 - Stop, stop, break, let him go, get your head up, stop.
06:34 - Yeah, Isley occasionally smothers his work.
06:36 And when he smothers his work,
06:37 he gives this man Todd an opportunity to tie him up.
06:40 The referee will come in and break him apart.
06:45 See, these are opportunities right here.
06:47 Instead of giving his hands,
06:48 he's got opportunities to keep his hands inside close
06:51 and work his offense.
06:52 - Stop holding him, let him go.
06:55 - Todd holding on to that left hand
06:57 until referee Joe Rutter steps in and tries to break it up.
07:01 We got some really young boxing fans
07:06 right behind Antonio Todd.
07:08 They're now behind Troy Isley.
07:10 Babies having their bottles right here
07:11 on Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+.
07:14 Love it, the next generation.
07:16 There is a mythical list.
07:21 One of them is a pound for pound list,
07:23 but the young guys, they care about one list.
07:25 And that's Timothy Bradley's double family.
07:27 - But it's different now, it's changed now.
07:28 We had some guys that graduated.
07:30 You know, we've had, we had Mortia that graduated.
07:33 Also we had Anderson graduated,
07:35 but oh, Odebeck. - Who this kid?
07:37 - They don't nobody know who this guy is right here.
07:39 He's a featherweight.
07:41 And he's from Uzbekistan, I believe.
07:44 Bruce Carrington right here.
07:45 No joke, another one of my prospects guys
07:48 that I believe is going to be one day at the top.
07:50 Oh, there you got Xander Zayas.
07:52 Another one, Puerto Rican sensation.
07:55 Oh, Abdullah Mason.
07:57 Abdullah Mason, that's a bad boy right there.
07:59 I'm told you, you remind me of like almost
08:00 a Southpaw pretty boy Floyd.
08:02 And there, Keyshawn, a man that we going to have
08:04 on display tonight.
08:06 Fantastic young fighter sitting here
08:08 right close to me right now.
08:11 Enjoying the festivities, liking what he's seeing.
08:14 With my man.
08:16 - And there's a list of Tim Bradley's prospects.
08:20 And there is one who's been at the top of that list
08:23 since the outset, just because of his vision,
08:26 his skill, both on the offensive end and on the defensive.
08:29 - Yes it is, he has it all.
08:30 - Yes. - All.
08:32 - And personality too. - His personality.
08:34 You gotta have that it factor as well to go along with.
08:36 You gotta be marketable, that's the first level.
08:38 But then you gotta have that determination,
08:40 that will, the conditioning, the strength.
08:42 There's a list goes on.
08:43 There's a lot, there's a plethora of things
08:45 that you gotta have, that I gotta see
08:46 before I put you on that list.
08:48 - And Tim, sometimes those young men want it so fast,
08:51 they want to be the top dog.
08:53 And in this case, being in camp with Terrence Crawford
08:57 and seeing the work that the top pound for pound
09:00 for pound fighter in the world is putting in,
09:02 I think that's the best learning ground
09:04 for a fighter like he is.
09:05 - It is the best learning ground.
09:06 And you can see the huge transition
09:09 once he went to the BNB Boxing Academy.
09:12 But I can just tell you this,
09:14 all these young fighters, they have that Loma Chanco bug.
09:17 Loma Chanco came out and won a world title
09:19 in his third professional fight.
09:20 And so everybody started thinking that they can do it
09:22 and so on and so forth, but they don't realize
09:24 that you gotta build yourself up in this game.
09:27 Once you hone your skills and you stay busy
09:30 and marketability, the fans gotta see you more often.
09:35 And once you give up all that experience
09:37 and you get in these big fights,
09:38 now you're gonna be more marketable,
09:39 you're gonna sell more tickets, so on and so forth.
09:41 So, take your time, don't rush it.
09:45 Don't rush the process, let it happen.
09:47 You wanna be a household name.
09:49 - Another way to do it is with activity.
09:52 And Troy Isley, he fought five times in 2022.
09:56 So he kept himself in the ring after fighting three times,
10:00 including the Olympics out in Tokyo in 2022, so in 2021.
10:05 So this is a young man who has stayed active,
10:07 who wants to make up for that ground, Tim,
10:10 because he understands that he doesn't make as much noise
10:14 outside the ring, so he's not as well known,
10:17 but he wants to make his noise inside the ring.
10:19 So it doesn't matter what he says,
10:21 it's what he does that counts.
10:22 - Isley, to me, seems like the type of fighter
10:24 that steps his game up when the competition steps up.
10:29 You know, he's been in the amateurs for a very long time,
10:31 and once, you know, you get kinda in a rut to where,
10:34 or in a mode to where you get used to the competition
10:38 being at its very high,
10:39 when you get to a certain level in the amateurs.
10:42 And he's kinda taken that approach into the pros,
10:45 you know, and the tougher the competition go,
10:47 I think you're gonna see more improvement
10:49 and better skills from Troy Isley.
10:52 (fighters grunting)
10:55 - Punch is up.
10:57 - Yeah, you talk about the skill of a fighter
10:59 like Troy Isley, you don't get amateur wins
11:02 against the likes of undisputed champion Devin Haney,
11:05 junior middleweight contender Sebastian Francora,
11:09 or Madrimov if you're not a talented fighter.
11:12 And that's what he has as an amateur,
11:14 but now it's the pros, and it's a whole clean slate for him.
11:17 (fists thudding)
11:21 (fighters grunting)
11:24 (bell ringing)
11:30 - Our main event tonight features George Camposas
11:33 taking on Maxie Hughes,
11:35 and this man has been in Oklahoma for the last two weeks.
11:40 He said, "This is my town."
11:41 Now he comes in wearing the cowboy hat,
11:44 and this man, he has five losses in his career,
11:49 but the combined record of those opponents
11:51 is 71 and four in 75 fights.
11:54 Four of them were unbeaten,
11:56 and all of those were either British
11:58 or European title fights.
12:00 So he's a tough out because of his style, Tim.
12:04 - He is one of those guys that other guys can look up to,
12:09 you know, other guys that have records similar to him.
12:14 You know, he's the definition of resilience.
12:16 Staying strong, believing in yourself, you know,
12:19 never giving up.
12:20 Now he has the biggest opportunity of his life tonight.
12:23 He can change his course in the directory of his career
12:27 with one win and put himself closer towards his goal
12:30 of becoming a world champion.
12:32 - Seven consecutive wins,
12:33 and he got into the DMs of Lou DiBella,
12:37 who then connected him with George Camposas and said,
12:39 "I'm gonna make this fight because my name means something."
12:43 And with the number two spot in the IVF at stake
12:47 against George Camposas,
12:48 that would be our main event that begins at 10 Eastern
12:51 on ESPN once our undercard is done here on ESPN+.
12:56 For now, Troll Isley is in round four
12:59 of a scheduled eight rounder against Antonio Todd,
13:02 the tall and lanky fighter out of Atlanta, Georgia,
13:06 who's making Isley work for every centimeter in that ring.
13:10 And when Isley gets a shot,
13:12 he wants to connect that right hand.
13:14 - Yeah, Isley's just inching his feet forward,
13:18 you know, getting aggressive with his offense,
13:19 and he's sneaking in behind his jab
13:21 and landing his combinations.
13:22 What you're seeing here from Todd
13:24 is he's trying to stand his ground,
13:25 but he's not doing it very well.
13:27 You know, he leans on his back foot,
13:28 he gets a single high shield.
13:30 You see him right there, the backhand is up,
13:32 almost like that Mayweather-esque type of defense.
13:36 And then when Isley gets out,
13:38 he just tries to use his jab and misses with shots.
13:40 And again, Isley does the same thing.
13:43 Rinse, wash, and repeat.
13:44 - Ooh, that was a nice inside shot from Isley,
13:47 who got inside that Philly shell with the right.
13:50 - See, but not enough offense.
13:53 You know, you see Todd here, he's not trying to,
13:56 to me, he's not trying to win.
13:58 He's just trying to not get stopped.
14:01 You know, if he was to let his hands go a little bit more,
14:03 take a little bit more risk,
14:04 he'd be able to give Isley something to worry about.
14:07 But when you're just sitting there,
14:08 nice counter right there from him on the inside.
14:11 Beautiful counter, but when you're just sitting there
14:13 and not doing anything, you're just in the line of fire.
14:17 (crowd cheering)
14:18 - Nice left hook there from Troy Isley.
14:21 Few and far between for Troy with that left beyond the jab.
14:27 - So Todd is just looking to time Isley.
14:32 He wants Isley to do a lot of the work,
14:34 and he's looking for one shot,
14:36 and that's the right hand down the middle.
14:39 You know, when you're fighting out of that stance right there
14:41 or out of that guard stance, I would say,
14:44 you're only available to look for one shot.
14:48 Every now and then you might see a little check hook
14:50 or a lead hook or something like that,
14:51 but the right hand or the right uppercut
14:53 or a right body shot is all he's looking for.
14:55 - There's that left hook from Troy Isley.
14:57 Yeah, I mean, not everybody can be lightning quick
14:59 with that counter right from the Philly shell
15:01 like Floyd Mayweather was.
15:02 - Exactly.
15:03 Floyd been doing that from the crib, man.
15:07 He's mastering.
15:08 You know, and I give respect to Todd.
15:12 He's trying to use it,
15:13 and he's having success every now and then,
15:14 but it's definitely not perfected like it should be.
15:17 - Nice level change there from Troy Isley
15:26 to close out the first half of this fight.
15:29 Antonio Todd trying to land something over the top,
15:34 but it's just defensive responsibility from Troy Isley,
15:37 who's had a lot of success with his right hand tonight, Tim,
15:41 but the question still remains, who is he,
15:44 and is he fighting at the level of his opposition too often?
15:48 - No, I don't think he's fighting
15:49 at the level of his opposition.
15:50 I think he's doing a lot of good things
15:51 inside the ring, in the inside,
15:53 especially landing right hands.
15:55 He got hit with a right hand right there because what?
15:56 He dropped his lead hand.
15:58 A lot of the shots that he's throwing,
15:59 he's dropping the opposite hand,
16:01 so that's the time he getting caught,
16:02 but as of tonight, he's dominating this fight,
16:05 you know, in good fashion.
16:07 He's doing everything he needs to do.
16:09 I would like to see him go down to the body,
16:11 just a little bit more, you know,
16:13 to kind of take advantage of that Philly shell.
16:15 We give you that left hook on the inside.
16:17 Why don't you take it?
16:18 - You know Al Mitchell well.
16:20 You know Cade Carrova.
16:22 - They're probably gonna tell him,
16:25 you see Keyshawn just got up.
16:26 He's probably gonna tell him to go down to the body.
16:28 That's what he's probably gonna tell him.
16:29 - Back up a little, back up a little.
16:34 - And we've had a little discussion in our fighter meeting,
16:37 you know, with Isley.
16:38 Isley called me out about the whole power thing.
16:41 He didn't like what I said about him in the power
16:43 and the pushing the last time out.
16:45 - But he did it respectfully.
16:46 - Yeah, he did, he did.
16:47 He did it very respectfully and it slipped.
16:49 - No knockdown, give me a love script.
16:51 - And that's okay, you know, but he has hit,
16:55 he has hit Todd with some flush shots.
16:59 I'm talking about flush.
17:01 He's more of a, I would say compound type of puncher.
17:05 You know, he's not a single knock you out type of guy.
17:09 - And he breaks you down and-
17:10 - Breaks you down and gets you a body.
17:12 - Accumulation of punches. - Accumulation, yep.
17:14 But he has a lot of technical ability behind his offense.
17:21 He's not just rushing in there, just throwing shots.
17:24 You know, I remember a guy similar with his physique
17:26 in the same weight class, I believe it was Jeff Lacey,
17:29 but had tremendous power.
17:31 - You're taking it way-
17:32 - But he didn't have the technique
17:34 that this young man has.
17:35 - All right, there's a nice right uppercut from Isley.
17:38 Now he's digging to the body
17:39 and he's making Todd fight out of that Philly shell
17:43 and get to the center of the ring.
17:44 - Nice dip, nice tuck and smother right there from Isley.
17:53 It's a nice move by him to get inside the close distance.
17:57 - And just the fact that you were seeing
18:00 what you were seeing and mentioning
18:02 what Isley needed to do,
18:04 I imagine that's exactly what a man like Al Mitchell
18:09 would tell him because you are a protege of Al Mitchell
18:12 and you see things very similarly
18:14 in terms of your vision, thanks to your years spent with Al.
18:18 - Everybody wanna know how I learned how to study film,
18:21 it's through Al Mitchell.
18:22 We used to sit there, I used to be up at the OU,
18:25 the OC up there in Marquette,
18:28 and he used to make us look at our sparring sessions
18:31 and look at our fights
18:32 and he used to break down our film for us and with us.
18:36 Look at Isley, Isley looking right now,
18:47 he's looking to take advantage,
18:48 he's looking to go towards that weak side.
18:51 But what's happening is that Todd is actually moving with him
18:56 so when Isley get around that left side, the jab side,
19:00 what Todd is doing, he's stepping with him,
19:02 he's rolling around, he's not allowing him
19:05 to take advantage of him on that angle.
19:07 - You see the athleticism of the former wide receiver
19:10 on the college level, making things difficult for Troy Isley
19:14 not enough to win this fight,
19:16 but enough to make it a difficult fight for the Olympian.
19:19 - Nice combination there from Troy Isley.
19:30 - He's taking advantage,
19:31 taking advantage of any moments of opportunity
19:33 inside that ring.
19:34 Hey, you slip, that's on you, but I'm gonna come get you.
19:37 - George Kambosis Jr. in tonight's main event
19:39 is making his return after two undisputed fights
19:42 in Australia against Devin Haney that didn't go his way.
19:45 Now he's ready to make a statement
19:46 and show everyone he's back at his best.
19:48 - Looking back at the 24 rounds I got to do
19:52 with Devin Haney, the two fights,
19:54 of course there were mistakes,
19:55 there were things that when you look back,
19:58 you say, "I should've done this, should've done that,"
20:00 but I gave it my all.
20:02 I gave everything I had in that ring.
20:04 Styles made fights, he beat me, but I learnt a lot too.
20:07 I was able to sit back and go over a lot of things
20:10 and change things up, make things better.
20:13 You know, this is special.
20:16 Me coming back to America where it all started,
20:18 to headline, this is an opportunity for me
20:21 to make an athletic statement.
20:23 I'm not just coming to win.
20:24 I'm not just coming to beat Maxie Hughes.
20:26 I'm coming to take him out and get rid of this guy.
20:29 - And both George Camposas and Maxie Hughes, Tim,
20:35 in a familiar place.
20:37 They both like that underdog role
20:39 and they both feel like it's me against the world
20:42 and that's the case tonight.
20:43 - But George seems like he feeds off of that.
20:46 You know, he was called the road warrior,
20:50 you know, traveling around, fighting these guys here.
20:52 - Yeah, exactly.
20:53 But the thing is, is that he's back in his element.
20:57 He's back chasing something and rather it's belts,
21:00 money, whatever it is, but something is influencing him
21:03 tonight to step foot back in the ring
21:05 because he got paid a pretty penny for Devin Haney
21:09 and I remember him reading, him even thinking about doing,
21:14 you know, saying, "I'm done.
21:15 "I don't need to fight anymore.
21:17 "I've done what I need to do."
21:18 - Yeah, I mean, that's always a dangerous place
21:20 because this is a sport you mentioned earlier.
21:22 You don't play. - No.
21:23 - And if you're not 100% committed to it,
21:26 bad things can happen to you inside the ring
21:28 because you literally risk your life
21:30 every time you step inside the ring.
21:32 So it's good to know that he sacrificed himself,
21:34 spent six weeks in Las Vegas with the new trainer
21:37 and Don House, polishing up his game,
21:39 adding new wrinkles to his game
21:41 because against Haney, he said, "A boxer can beat me.
21:45 "I wanna make sure that doesn't happen again."
21:46 And tonight he faces a boxer.
21:48 He'll be tested right off the bat.
21:50 - Right out the gate.
21:52 (grunting)
21:54 - Both guys just going body to body.
21:56 Isley says, "Let me switch it up on you."
22:00 - Nice spacing right here.
22:05 You can see a spacing from Isley
22:08 and Todd's marching forward.
22:12 But again, Isley taking the space away,
22:14 taking the space or keeping that gap between himself
22:17 to use his jab.
22:20 You know, boxing is a lot of push and pull,
22:22 a lot of push and pull, back and forth.
22:24 You know, sometimes you can lay back,
22:28 you can fight off the back foot,
22:30 and then you're eventually gonna have to come forward
22:33 to land your offense.
22:35 And Isley's mixing it up.
22:36 Sometimes he initiates the offense
22:39 and then there's times where he doesn't.
22:42 And the same thing can be said about Todd.
22:44 He's just, oh, nice slip right there from Todd.
22:49 Shoulder roll, off the jab,
22:51 and beautiful right hand down the pipe.
22:54 - Stop, stop!
23:00 Listen to me now.
23:02 Box.
23:04 - Let's see if anyone can assert any dominance here
23:08 at the end of this sixth round.
23:11 - Man, I can tell you this, man.
23:15 With the skills that Isley have,
23:17 if he had just a little bit more pop, oh my goodness.
23:21 - Man, that's what they say about you.
23:23 - I know, that's what I'm saying.
23:24 That's what I'm saying.
23:25 - You know who does have a lot of pop?
23:31 Now, Oya "The Monster" Inoue.
23:33 He's looking to become a four division champion
23:35 against Stephen Fulton.
23:37 That'll be on Tuesday on ESPN+.
23:39 Listen in to Nariya's count-off.
23:41 (dramatic music)
23:45 (dramatic music)
23:48 (speaking in foreign language)
23:52 (dramatic music)
23:55 (speaking in foreign language)
23:59 (dramatic music)
24:02 (speaking in foreign language)
24:05 (dramatic music)
24:08 (speaking in foreign language)
24:18 (dramatic music)
24:21 (speaking in foreign language)
24:25 - Now Oya Inoue going up against Cool Boy Steph,
24:40 the unified champion.
24:42 That'll be early in the morning of Tuesday, July 25th.
24:45 If you don't happen to get up,
24:47 remember you can always watch it on ESPN+ On Demand.
24:51 And you'll find out if he was able to join Jeff Fennec,
24:54 Wilfredo Vasquez, Abner Marez, Leo Santa Cruz,
24:57 Hozumi Hasegawa, and a man to go from 18 to 22 successfully.
25:02 And here we see Troy Isley in trouble
25:04 early on in round seven.
25:06 - Oh yeah, you saw the transition right there.
25:08 You saw the tempo switch.
25:10 Isley came out aggressive.
25:11 And then you see Todd, he said,
25:13 "Nuh-uh, I'm gonna fight with you."
25:16 (crowd shouting)
25:17 You are not trying to bully me.
25:20 You're not gonna bully me.
25:21 That's what he's saying.
25:22 - Those fighters I reeled off were all fighters
25:32 who moved up from 118 pounds to 122 pounds successfully.
25:37 And Steph Fulton says, "Not so fast, my friends."
25:40 Maybe he'll join Carlos Sanate,
25:43 who lost against Wilfredo Gomez,
25:44 or Lupe Pintor, who suffered the same fate.
25:47 Connie Salas, who lost against Wilfredo Vasquez,
25:49 or Wayne McCullough, who lost to Saragossa,
25:52 Morales, and Oscar Larios in his attempt.
25:54 It's not easy, it's only four pounds.
25:56 But what a difference it is.
25:57 - It's harder the smaller weights.
25:59 It's harder to go up and fight, especially the champions.
26:04 One of the best champions in the division, four pounds.
26:07 Never test the water in that division,
26:09 and go up there and face the man.
26:10 A lot of respect for you anyway, no doubt about it.
26:14 - I don't know what it, well, I know what it is.
26:16 He believes in his punching power himself,
26:18 but ego can get you in trouble too.
26:21 Fulton is a bad boy, and this is not gonna be an easy fight.
26:24 - It will not be an easy fight.
26:25 He's never fought a fighter as skilled as Stephen Fulton,
26:29 who has the movement.
26:30 Now the one caveat with Fulton is that he's got the lowest,
26:34 one of the lowest percentage of knockouts
26:35 among active champions today.
26:37 And if the monster has free reign to come get you,
26:41 you gotta watch out.
26:43 - Yeah, I understand that,
26:44 but you know what takes care of that punching power
26:46 and accuracy is finesse.
26:48 You know, Floyd Mayweather has displayed that many times,
26:50 and I'm not saying that Fulton is a Floyd Mayweather,
26:53 but you know, he has some similarities,
26:55 reach, you know, slender,
26:57 knows, has a great boxing IQ, boxing mind,
27:00 can come and he can execute a game plan.
27:03 - And that's why it's so intriguing.
27:04 It really is an intriguing fight because,
27:06 yes, Inouye has the power to break anybody down,
27:10 but will Stephen Fulton be there to be broken down?
27:14 He's never fought a fighter with the angles
27:16 and the movement that Fulton will present.
27:18 - Look, if he stays in the center ring
27:20 and he uses his reach,
27:21 and he doesn't allow Inouye to get inside on him,
27:24 he can do some serious damage to Inouye.
27:26 He can beat him.
27:27 - And Inouye is an all offense, all the time type of fighter
27:32 who has had his nose and orbital bone broken
27:35 by Nonito Donaire.
27:36 (crowd cheering)
27:39 - Round seven in the books
27:44 between Troy Isley and Antonio Todd.
27:46 These fights all lead us to the return
27:49 of George Camboses Jr.,
27:51 the former Undisputed Lightweight Champ,
27:54 held the WBC franchise title
27:56 in his fight against Teofilo Lopez.
28:00 And that was a night that changed his life.
28:01 And he says, "Tonight I have an opportunity
28:04 "to start this next part of my career
28:07 "and get a fight against Vasily Lomachenko,
28:09 "against the big names at lightweight."
28:12 - I love it, but he gotta win tonight.
28:14 I mean, you can have all the wants in your life,
28:17 but if you don't handle your business,
28:19 especially in this game of boxing,
28:22 you're not gonna get that opportunity.
28:23 So he needs to focus tonight on Maxie Hughes,
28:27 take care of business, and then he can move forward.
28:29 - And he did that by going to Las Vegas for six weeks,
28:32 working at the City Athletic Club with Don House,
28:35 his new trainer.
28:36 How do you see that link up working?
28:39 - Look, he's had like three different trainers, man,
28:41 in the last year or so.
28:42 - In fairness, though, his trainer,
28:44 who was from Australia, his father passed away,
28:47 his mother had a heart attack,
28:49 Chris Backus had to go back to Australia.
28:51 They were just gonna add Don House to the mix
28:54 as an addition, and it ended up that now he's a lead trainer.
28:57 - Well, I can just tell you this,
28:58 the last fight that he had,
29:00 the adjustments that they made,
29:01 I don't think they made any adjustments at all.
29:03 I think, I thought his game plan was terrible,
29:05 I thought his footwork was terrible.
29:07 There was a lot of things that he did in that Haney fight
29:09 that he didn't do in the first fight, you know,
29:12 and Haney made him pay for.
29:14 Haney made all the adjustments it looked like,
29:16 and he was making him pay for every mistake he was making.
29:18 So moving forward and now getting a new trainer
29:21 and adding new wrinkles, you know,
29:23 that stuff doesn't set in.
29:25 I don't know if Maxie's the type of guy
29:27 that's gonna have to, gonna bring back the old Kambosis,
29:31 you know, but I'm just saying,
29:33 it's hard to really, to master, you know,
29:36 new fundamentals and new techniques from a trainer.
29:38 It takes a couple of fights for you to get there.
29:41 Good right hand.
29:49 Both guys exchanging, that's called an even exchange
29:51 when both guys throw right hands and both land.
29:54 - Oh, but that's not an even exchange.
29:55 - No, that wasn't. - That was all eyes.
29:57 (laughing)
29:59 - Nice body work from Isley,
30:06 maybe a little too late in this fight.
30:08 Although it's never too late to go downstairs.
30:13 Looks like Isley will go to his fourth consecutive decision.
30:26 Probably a win here in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
30:31 He talked about a win is a win.
30:33 - A win is a win to a certain degree.
30:39 You know, it's all definitely about winning,
30:41 but you know, nowadays with the competition,
30:44 a lot of the young guys moving up,
30:45 it's all about how you win these fights
30:48 and how you win this fight is,
30:50 it basically tells the promoter and also the matchmaker
30:55 of what level you are.
30:57 Where you're headed.
30:58 But these are good rounds.
30:59 I'm gonna tell you right now,
31:00 these are good rounds for Isley moving forward
31:03 because not everybody's gonna fall.
31:05 And I would rather him, my fighter go rounds
31:09 than not go any rounds at all by just getting knockouts
31:12 and then you end up just believing in your punching power
31:15 and you don't actually develop the skill.
31:16 - Yeah, oh, nice right hand there from Isley
31:19 and Todd asking questions of Isley
31:21 in terms of using his length, using his height,
31:24 his size in this fight and Isley answering the bell here
31:28 in round number eight.
31:30 - This is a similar style that was something
31:32 that Isley has seen in the past.
31:33 I forget what his name was, the fighter that he faced.
31:37 That was actually-- - Quincy Leveley?
31:38 - Yes, that was actually using that Philly shell
31:42 and it kind of gave him a little bit of confusion.
31:44 - All right, we are halfway through 2023
31:50 and what a year it's been for the sport of boxing.
31:54 Let's take a look at our first half recap.
31:56 - This fight is gonna be fun, it's gonna be explosive.
32:06 Oh gosh, straight bombs.
32:09 Both fighters with their heart on their sleeve.
32:11 Archer better be him, does it again.
32:13 - We'll see what version of Navarrete we will get.
32:18 - Wilson scores the shocking knockdown here in round four.
32:22 Oh, we got a great one tonight, folks.
32:24 - Navarrete is a three division world champ.
32:28 - Highly skilled competitors,
32:30 champions meeting up in a unification bout.
32:32 - She has everything.
32:34 - What doesn't she have?
32:35 - World class stuff from Superbad.
32:38 - These are talented, talented fighters.
32:42 - The war breaks out in round four
32:44 and a knockdown is scored.
32:46 - Robesio Ramirez is the new WBO featherweight
32:49 world champion.
32:50 - Tremendous defensive fighter, now his lightweight debut.
32:54 - There's a knockdown score with the left hand.
32:57 - So shocked tonight.
32:58 - Beautiful work right here by Shikori Stevenson,
33:00 the phenom.
33:01 - It is buzzing in here for Haney Loma.
33:04 Here we go for Undisputed.
33:06 This is high level stuff between these two elite fighters.
33:09 High drama all night long.
33:12 Devon Haney is 30 and 0 by defeating
33:15 Vasily Lomachenko in a classic.
33:19 Here we go for the world title.
33:21 Taylor and Lopez.
33:23 Oh and a big shot comes in.
33:25 That lunging shot, vintage Tiafemo.
33:28 Oh and a headshot combination
33:30 sends Taylor back against the ropes.
33:33 It's been all Tiafemo here at MSG.
33:36 The takeover, he's back.
33:38 He's on top of the world again.
33:39 - Look, my most significant fight,
33:47 I gotta go with Tank Davis
33:51 and I have to go with Ryan Garcia.
33:54 But here's why.
33:55 You know, because of two elements.
33:58 Both men were in their primes.
34:00 Both were built, have huge followings and huge fan bases.
34:05 And this is what boxing should be about.
34:09 Both of these guys taking risks, betting on themselves.
34:13 That's what it's all about for me.
34:15 - Okay, I'm gonna let you have that one, Tim.
34:17 - All right, give me some.
34:20 - No, I mean one guy went in with the injured rib
34:22 and the other guy--
34:22 - Oh, come on man, we didn't know that big a going in.
34:24 Come on now.
34:25 There was a lot listening to me.
34:26 There was a lot of people that was betting on Garcia
34:30 to pull this off.
34:32 A lot of boxing insiders was picking them to win the fight.
34:35 - All right, we'll see what happens.
34:36 All right, let's send it up to Mark Chinook
34:38 with the official decision for Idea Ties.
34:39 - Ladies and gentlemen, after eight rounds here
34:42 inside Fire Lake Arena in Shawnee, Oklahoma,
34:45 we go to the judges' scorecards for the official decision.
34:49 Mike Bauer, Joseph Mason, and Gary Ritter
34:52 all score the bout 79-73
34:56 for your winner by unanimous decision,
34:59 Troy "The Transformer" Isley!
35:05 - 79-73, three times a unanimous decision
35:10 for Troy Isley who gets his 10th professional win.
35:14 Another man who's looking for his tenth professional win is...
