00:00 Hello, this is your Sheffield Daily Bulletin for July 24th, 2023. Here are the top stories.
00:06 The organisers of the 2023 Tramlines Festival have committed to restoring Hillsborough Park after it was turned to a field of mud over the weekend.
00:15 Two days of consistent rainfall meant the thousands of festival goers turned the park into a mud bath which some said was ankle deep.
00:24 Tramlines' Tim Cleesby said the organisers take their responsibility to repair the park very seriously and will be meeting with contractors today to plan restoration work which will begin on July 31st.
00:38 The weekend of rain has led to flood alerts from the Environment Agency.
00:43 Two flood alerts have been issued for the areas around the Upper River Don catchment and Blackburn Brook.
00:50 The areas in the alerts include Highgreen to Meadowhall and Penistone to Kellam Island.
00:56 And finally, Kerry Needham is asking police investigating her son Ben's disappearance on the Greek island of Kos to prove he is dead.
01:04 Ben Needham was 21 months old when he vanished on July 24th 1991. Authorities believe he tragically died in an incident involving a digger though no remains have ever been found.
01:16 Speaking to the Daily Mirror on the 32nd anniversary of Ben's disappearance, Kerry said investigators need to prove her son Ben died as she is still hopeful that he will one day be found alive.
01:28 As always you can find all the stories mentioned in today's bulletin in full on our website.
01:33 We're not huge festival goers but we wanted to come because the Everleigh Bregman Brothers are playing and so we've come to see them mainly but anything else and it's pretty good actually other than the mud it's alright.
01:41 It's actually the festival we go to every year and we've announced we're retaking the festival so we love this one so much.
01:48 And the back, the red layer on.
01:52 Yeah and they made the most of it so even though it's going into year it's going to be amazing.
01:57 That's really good yeah it's been fantastic not been here that long but yeah I think the venue festival's really blasted me through all sorts.
02:05 We've really enjoyed it good so far and let's hope the weather stays like it does.
02:10 I think it's almost incomparable it's so different when you start off with a local pregnant, whatever it's called, act that's kind of a home favourite, get the crowd warmed up and you still get these big acts like the fly towards the end. It's so good.
02:22 Yeah.
