00:00 Hiroshima or how to kill 70,000 people in 45 seconds.
00:03 We return on August 6, 1945, precisely at 8.14, when the Enola Gay plane, which carries
00:09 an atomic bomb, overflies Hiroshima.
00:11 At 8.15, we drop the Little Boy bomb at an altitude of 9,450 meters.
00:16 This 4,000-kilogram and 3-meter-long bomb, held by a parachute, pierces the sky at high
00:21 speed.
00:22 And 43 seconds later, it explodes 580 meters from the ground, above the Shima hospital.
00:26 A lightning strike pierces the sky, and a huge gas bubble is formed.
00:30 The force of the explosion is 15,000 tons of TNT.
00:33 Towards the point of the explosion, the temperature reaches 4,000 degrees.
00:36 The shock wave causes winds that can grow at 800 km / h.
00:39 It's a disaster.
00:40 Little Boy instantly kills about 70,000 people, and 60,000 buildings are destroyed in a radius
00:46 of less than 2 km.
00:48 Fires break out at kilometers per hour, and thousands of people are burned.
00:52 The people protected from the radiation of the bomb are injured by the shock wave and the
00:56 projection of tons of debris.
00:58 And an atomic mushroom rises in the sky.
01:00 It's 8.17, and the calvary is far from over.
01:02 The rescues will take hours to arrive, leaving thousands of people agonized and dead.
01:07 And to make matters worse, the survivors take good radiation, because yes, we must
01:11 not forget that the bomb is radioactive.
01:12 Even if we will never officially know it, it is estimated that 140,000 people have lost
01:16 their lives with a crazy number of injured.
01:18 And the worst is that three days later, the story starts again on Nagasaki.
