00:00 Heat remains a big topic.
00:01 Lots of heat alerts stretching out
00:04 to nearly from coast to coast at
00:06 this hour from California into Florida.
00:08 The most intense heat in the short
00:11 term throughout the Southwest,
00:12 but it's going to be expanding in an
00:15 eastward direction back into Texas again.
00:17 Will still be some records today into Texas,
00:20 but the heat is going to be squished a
00:23 little farther to the South around San
00:26 Antonio or back into the triple digits.
00:28 It's set to break the record of 103
00:30 on this day back in 2018 and look at
00:33 this long standing record here in Las Vegas.
00:36 114 your exclusive acu with a forecast.
00:38 We are on par to tie that record set
00:41 all the way back on this day in 1937.
00:44 Going down the road,
00:45 Phoenix you stay put in the one teens.
00:48 We've got a record a stretch of
00:50 100 teens that's ongoing here.
00:51 Las Vegas will drop down just a bit,
00:54 but still remaining above
00:55 the historical average.
00:56 As we look our way off toward the east,
00:59 well forecasted high temperatures
01:00 for this afternoon and notice around
01:02 Lubbock and Oklahoma City in Dallas
01:04 and Wichita for a change.
01:06 We're actually a little bit below
01:08 the historical average.
01:08 Do not get used to this though.
01:11 Changes are coming up and
01:12 they're coming up quickly.
01:14 In fact,
01:14 we'll start to see that heat already
01:16 building and bubbling up and expanding,
01:18 intensifying as we go into your
01:20 exclusive acu weather forecast on Sunday.
01:22 Best chance of showers and
01:23 thunderstorms will stretch along
01:25 the west coast of Texas out east
01:27 along the length of the Interstate 10.
01:29 All the way into northeastern Florida.
01:31 But what's happening as we headed to next
01:33 week and we're going to see that large area.
01:36 That strong area of high pressure
01:38 begin to slide its way a little
01:40 farther to the east and that will
01:42 take the core of the heat eastbound.
01:44 Highs 51015 degrees above the
01:45 historical average and that's very
01:47 significant as we make our move into
01:49 late July and the climatologically
01:51 speaking that's when you see the
01:53 peak of the heat in terms of those
01:55 historical averages here for many
01:57 cities throughout the plains.
01:58 So Dallas were climbing back up to
02:00 right around 100 Sunday to Monday,
02:02 further intensifying further down the road.
02:04 Upper 90s for Oklahoma City by Monday,
02:07 San Antonio were just going to stay
02:09 put in the low to the mid 100s.
