00:00 It was my first day of practice at Davidson.
00:04 And Coach McKellar put me with Jason Richards,
00:07 our captain, point guard.
00:09 And Jay Rich is killing me.
00:11 Like, every time he touches the ball, he scores.
00:14 And I can't get a stop. I'm getting tired.
00:16 I'm getting flustered. I'm getting overwhelmed.
00:18 Coach is old school. Coach is New York.
00:21 Um...
00:22 He finds out how far he can push you
00:25 and kind of pushes you to that limit.
00:28 He had prepared this whole scenario.
00:30 He had a white handkerchief in his pocket.
00:33 And I took out the handkerchief that I always carry in my back pocket,
00:37 and I waved it, and I said, "You want to surrender, don't you?
00:41 "You want to surrender, don't you?"
00:42 He kept saying, "Over here, take it.
00:44 "You want to surrender, go ahead, take it."
00:46 The message was, "You're on your own."
00:49 home.
