00:00 My name is Jorah Morrison, I'm 17 years old.
00:03 I'm from San Fernando, I attend Bay Bay Secondary School and I play beach volleyball.
00:23 I started playing beach volleyball at 13 years old after playing indoor in the Pleasantville facility.
00:30 My coach uncle, Sean Morrison, started beach volleyball so I ended up falling and I'm playing from then.
00:39 So I started football at 5 years old and then I started playing volleyball at 13 years old.
00:45 So where I'm from my family was always involved in sports, one of us used to, even if it was volleyball, football,
00:53 but right now all of us are playing volleyball and a GMVP. My sister, cousins and brother.
00:59 So the preparation for the Commonwealth in August has been a very intense journey but we've been training every day,
01:06 going out, exercising. It's been tough but we have to do what we have to do.
01:10 I had a rough time in a tournament after Lucero with my performance and one of my coaches, Colin Charles,
01:18 and my grandmother, Althea, spoke to me and helped me out to figure out what to do and fix it for the next tournament.
01:28 The problem was a little miscommunication on the court between me and my coach but we figured it out.
01:35 My greatest achievement so far playing volleyball was for L'Asse 2022, play at Rising Star VA.
01:45 I got the award in February for the national tournament.
01:50 My biggest source of inspiration so far has been my uncle, my coach and my grandmother, Althea, Julie Manuel.
01:59 My uncle Sean, coach, helped me, brought me into the sport and helped me become the player that I am now
02:07 and competing in the Commonwealth because of him and my grandmother.
02:11 During the rough times when I wanted to quit and didn't have good times, she helped me and told me to keep pushing through.
02:18 Some of the volleyball players I look up to are Marlon Phillip, Fabian Witterfield and Sean Morrison.
02:26 My long-term plan for volleyball is to compete at a high level and to be one of the best players I've passed through,
02:34 Trinidad especially, just to go all over and play different countries and compete and bring back medals.
02:40 Me and my teammates have a strong connection since we were young because we grew up together in the same area.
02:48 Since we started playing volleyball together, our connection got stronger and stronger.
02:53 I don't really have much free time because most of my time has been dedicated to volleyball.
03:00 When I reach home, I mostly play video games with my cousins.
03:05 I would like to thank everyone for viewing my Express YSS interview.
03:09 I would like to invite everyone to come and support all the athletes in the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games in Tobago.
