00:00 Russia carries out live fire drills in the Black Sea as the Kremlin maintains that any
00:04 ship attempting to access Ukrainian ports could be targeted.
00:10 The White House confirms the Ukrainian army is using US-supplied cluster bombs and the
00:15 United Nations condemns Russian attacks on Black Sea ports.
00:18 The Russian Ministry of Defence said on Friday that its navy has been carrying out live fire
00:37 exercises in the Black Sea.
00:40 The news comes after Vladimir Putin pulled out of a deal allowing grain to be exported
00:44 from ports in the region and warning that any ships sailing to Ukraine through the waterway
00:49 would be potential military targets.
00:52 In a statement on Telegram, the ministry said its Black Sea fleet has been practising live
00:56 firing of anti-ship cruise missiles at a target ship in the north-western part of the sea.
01:02 The Kremlin has warned of the risks of establishing Black Sea ship routes without Moscow's participation.
01:08 However Kiev has said it is prepared to continue exporting grain through its southern ports
01:12 despite Russia pulling out of the deal.
01:16 Ukraine is one of the world's leading exporters of grain and many countries in Africa and
01:19 Asia depend on its imports to fend off food shortages.
01:32 The White House national security spokesman John Kirby has confirmed that US-made cluster
01:36 bombs are already being deployed by the Ukrainian army.
01:40 The devices are effective against military personnel but have been criticised for their
01:44 harm to civilians.
01:45 Meanwhile the United Nations has slammed Russia's continuing attacks on Ukrainian ports and
01:50 grain facilities.
01:51 The Secretary General strongly condemns the Russian attacks against port facilities in
01:55 Odessa and other Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea.
01:59 The attacks contradict the Russian Federation's commitment under the Memorandum of Understanding
02:04 with the United Nations which states that "the Russian Federation will facilitate the
02:09 unimpeded export of food, sunflower oil and fertilisers from Ukraine-controlled Black
02:14 Sea ports".
02:17 But attacks on civilians and infrastructure continue.
02:20 Overnight two Iranian-made drones hit two buildings at a children's health camp on the
02:24 outskirts of Sumy in north-eastern Ukraine.
02:27 A fire broke out in one of the buildings but was extinguished by rescuers and officials
02:32 say no one was killed or injured.
02:35 In his nightly address, President Vladimir Zelensky said Russia had fired almost 70 missiles
02:40 and 90 Shahed Iranian drones to strike Ukraine over the space of just four days.
02:56 The new French government has officially started its work.
03:00 At its first meeting President Emmanuel Macron highlighted the importance of the political
03:04 response to street violence that ravaged the country for weeks.
03:08 "We will have to provide a deep response to the riots that the country experienced at
03:16 the beginning of July.
03:17 Because beyond the response to the emergency, we can see through the crises that the risk
03:24 of fragmentation, of deep division of the nation is there.
03:28 And there is a need for both authority, respect, and legitimate hope.
03:38 And it is a complete and deep response that is being played at the national level."
03:44 The president reshuffled his government on Thursday in a bid to move on from a series
03:48 of crises following his re-election last year.
03:53 There was speculation that he might change prime minister, but Macron said he is sticking
03:57 with Elizabeth Bourne.
04:05 Spain's national election on Sunday will take place in the middle of a heatwave and during
04:10 the summer holidays, when millions of Spaniards are likely to be on vacation away from their
04:15 main residences.
04:17 As a result, postal voting requests have soared, with a last-minute extension allowing people
04:22 to cast their votes up to Friday, although many have already done so.
04:27 The two main parties and two smaller parties have been holding their last rallies in the
04:31 run-up to the poll.
04:33 Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called the snap election after his socialist party and smaller
04:38 far-left coalition partner Podemos were resoundingly beaten in local and regional elections.
04:46 "A heated campaign debate against Pedro Sánchez elevated the opposition leader's political
04:55 standing in the eyes of many Spaniards.
04:58 Alberto Núñez-Fejo emerged victorious against the seasoned head of government, projecting
05:03 a presidential image that ultimately persuaded numerous undecided individuals seeking a change
05:09 in direction.
05:11 Despite leading the popular party for over a year, Fejo has a low profile.
05:16 He spent much of his political career in Galicia, heading the regional government for 13 years,
05:21 renewing his mandate with majorities he prevented the local rise of the extreme right.
05:26 Amidst internal conflicts within the party at national level, Fejo garnered significant
05:31 attention, projecting a strong image.
05:34 Born into a modest family, he was a "responsible and obedient young man" who pursued a law
05:40 degree during the early years of democracy.
05:42 Although he aspired to become a magistrate, he chose to become a civil servant to support
05:46 his family when his father lost his job.
05:49 In 1995, a photograph was taken of him that he would regret years later.
05:55 Fejo was in the Galician government, posing on a yacht with a narco dealer, but the politician
06:00 assures he didn't know and that they were not even friends.
06:04 First published in 2013, the photo reappeared in the press in the final stretch of this
06:08 electoral campaign.
06:09 In 2006, he assumed the leadership of the popular party in Galicia.
06:15 Three years later, he met his current partner, a Galician businesswoman with whom he has
06:19 a son and firmly took the reins of the regional government.
06:23 For years, Fejo rejected the allure emanating from Madrid.
06:26 His sole ambition was apparently Galicia.
06:29 However, when the party faced internal conflicts, he could not decline the call to help.
06:33 Fejo represented unity, efficiency and predictability.
06:39 His positions on internal politics remained somewhat undefined.
06:42 His primary discourse centers around abolishing El Sanchezmo, which he defined as the art
06:48 of agreeing to do whatever, with whomever and at whatever price in order to remain in
06:52 power for as long as possible.
06:55 This promise could be a poor but straightforward appeal for the Spaniards who desire a change
07:00 in direction.
07:02 Following the last debate, the only one between them in the campaign, the polls indicated
07:06 a shift of votes from the extreme right towards the popular party, as well as from socialist
07:12 ranks.
07:13 Similar to his approach in Galicia, Fejo called for a majority that enables him to govern
07:18 without constraints or surprises.
07:29 Spain is once again sweltering.
07:31 Despite the scorching temperatures, people are daring to walk the streets of Madrid.
07:36 This is the reality for thousands of tourists visiting Spain and its capital these days.
07:46 The National Weather Service said that thermometers could potentially hit 45 degrees Celsius
07:51 in southeastern parts of the country.
07:53 For tourists, any respite from the heat is appreciated.
08:02 With increasingly frequent, intense and prolonged episodes of extreme heat, climate change threatens
08:07 one of Spain's main resources, tourism.
08:10 According to data from the European Travel Commission, the number of people expecting
08:30 to visit the Mediterranean region from June to November has already decreased by 10% compared
08:55 to the previous year.
09:09 Spain knows it has to adapt its tourism experience.
09:31 The Spanish tourism sector is counting on the quality and sustainability of its destinations
09:36 to keep visitors coming back.
09:39 Even as summer temperatures keep rising.
09:48 This pink film covering parts of a saltwater lakeshore in Constanta, Romania has appeared
09:54 after temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius.
09:58 Specialists say that the sulfur bacteria in Lake Techeguel precipitate like pink dust
10:03 on the light exposed parts of algae and thus change the water's color.
10:07 This phenomenon occurs especially on shore where saltwater concentrations are higher.
10:34 Experts say that the phenomenon is not dangerous, on the contrary, it helps increase the quality
10:39 of the mud in the lake.
11:05 The lake, renowned for its sub-propellant mud, is highly sought after by tourists during
11:09 this time of year. In the summer, the lake is a perfect place to visit. The water is clear,
11:16 the water is clear, the water is clear. The water is clear, the water is clear. The water is
11:42 clear, the water is clear.
