I'm here on the grounds of St. Philips Cathedral for the Colmore Food Festival which attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. It showcases some of the best food and drink offerings from across the area and I've come along for 2023 to see what people have to look forward to this year.

00:00 So this afternoon we're hosting the 10th Colmore Food Festival, which is a celebration of a
00:06 whole load of businesses that are local to the city centre. We've got food and drink
00:11 and entertainment all the way throughout the afternoon. It's primarily focused at business
00:15 people this afternoon, but everybody is welcome. And then tomorrow we've got our more family
00:20 friendly day when we'll have some crafts, we'll have some children's entertainers, and
00:24 throughout the entire weekend you'll be able to get some amazing food at incredible prices.
00:29 All of the dishes are capped at £6, so if you've got a bit of a budget you can eat your
00:34 way around the district. But we know that times are tough and if you need to just look
00:39 at your budget a little bit, you can find something at an affordable price, or just
00:43 come down and enjoy the atmosphere.
00:45 Despite a spot of bad weather to open things up, a substantial number of people have attended
00:51 to savour the great food and beverages available. These are all provided by vendors operating
00:58 within the Cornwall Business District.
01:01 The great thing about the festival is that all of the businesses that are here today
01:04 are no more than five minutes walk from the festival site here in Birmingham Cathedral
01:08 grounds.
01:09 A wide range of food and beverages is on display for attendees today. Located in Birmingham,
01:16 the iconic St Philip's Cathedral Square stands as a traditional gathering spot, most notably
01:21 for the annual Christmas market. Such events provide an invaluable opportunity for vendors
01:28 to engage more intimately with their customers.
01:31 The opportunity that it brings to Loki is that it just showcases some of the wines that
01:37 we have on offer and introduces us to our local customers as well as new customers that
01:44 are in and around the food festival today.
01:45 Yes, we've come today because it's a great opportunity to meet different customers that
01:50 we don't necessarily come to the restaurant. We've got two restaurants in town, obviously
01:53 a more high-end one and then we've got a more, one that's more approachable, shall we say.
01:59 So it gives us a chance to showcase that, it gives us a chance to meet the customers
02:03 who may potentially want to come to one of the restaurants or both of them ideally.
02:07 The atmosphere today was undeniably electric and the array of fine food and drink available
02:12 was not wasted on those who turned up, with some of the area's most esteemed restaurants
02:17 in attendance. So many showed up and soldiered through a spot of bad weather to enjoy the
02:23 festivities and from the reception of the people here today, they certainly were not
02:28 at all disappointed with what was on offer.
02:31 It's a really fantastic event. I used to come to this like pre-Covid when it used to be
02:38 held. Great restaurants, great food, it's just a great atmosphere. So coming with colleagues,
02:43 just have a bit of a chill out from work and a day-to-day kind of rat race and just have
02:48 a break for an hour, an hour and a half and then head back to work.
02:52 We like food, we like trying new food and we like craft beers and the beer is amazing.
02:59 It's amazing atmosphere, people friendly, we love, really, really enjoy it.
