Transcript
00:00 forward to the new Barbie movie? I can't wait for the new Barbie movie, I can't wait to get there and get my pick and mix and get my lovely big huge seat.
00:07 Who are you going with? They don't know yet.
00:13 And do you have a favorite Barbie? The richest one, my richest Barbie ever, the one with the most money.
00:22 What are you hoping for from the film? I'm hoping for excitement, I'm hoping for them characters coming to life and being all big and strong, a bit like me really.
00:36 Do you think Barbie's like a feminist icon? Oh what a question, in this day and age. Is she a feminist icon? Possibly.
00:50 There are parts of the world that would be associated with a feminist icon but I don't personally think it is.
00:56 Do you think it's just like a good bit of fun? You know we sometimes forget when we were kids, the older generation of kids, that wasn't even a word.
01:04 So it was just a dollar, it was a big thing to get a Barbie doll for Christmas and now it's all changed. The world's gone Barbie mad baby!
01:13 Barbie's a part of, for as long as I've been alive anyway, Barbie's been a massive ongoing house brand. It's a global thing.
01:21 When you see the Barbie logo, no matter where you're from you know exactly what it means to you.
01:25 Whether that means it brings back childhood memories, gives you a sense of warmth or I don't know, but it's just like a nice global brand.
01:34 Do you think it's as much for men as women? I think obviously once upon a time it was all aimed at women, young girls, little girls, but I think as time's moved on and things have progressed even more,
01:46 Barbie's becoming like a symbol of change, a symbol of women that are empowered and people not being afraid to, yeah I like Barbie, I'm a boy, I'm a girl.
01:55 It's being open to anyone, anyone can access it, which the underlying meaning behind Barbie now is a totally different power statement in my opinion to what it used to be.
02:05 So what are you looking forward to about the film?
02:09 I think it's just going to showcase, so all of these, if you think of Barbie 30 years ago, it was associated with a lot of negative words like blonde, bimbo, girl, fantasy.
02:20 Whereas now they've flipped it on its head and it's going to showcase words like strong, powerful, like be Barbie.
02:27 Barbie to me means be a warrior, be the best version of yourself you can be in a world that's different and moving forward.
02:35 Do you think Barbie's a positive role model for young people growing up today?
02:41 Right now and with the way that the film is being portrayed and the trailers and the talk about it, I think right now it's going to be shown in such a positive way to everyone.
02:51 I mean back in the day I could see how the way it was marketed and things like that, how it could be a negative impact on people like body image.
02:58 But yeah I think they've really refined it and now they're using it as a tool to help people and spur them on.
03:05 Do you have a favourite Barbie?
03:07 Mine was always the gymnastic Barbie, I like the outfits and the actual doll itself. It's the flexibility, you know you used to play with dolls.
03:16 So the gymnastic Barbie was my favourite at the time.
03:19 Are you looking forward to the new Barbie movie?
03:22 Yeah definitely, I can't wait to see it.
03:25 So are you going with friends?
03:28 Yeah definitely go with friends, see how it is. All the promo for it I've been seeing looks amazing so I'll go with it, it looks incredible.
03:38 What are you expecting from the film?
03:41 I think it's more about, it's not really just for kids anymore, I think it's more like showing a stereotype of Barbie and how Barbie can actually do everything.
03:52 So yeah I think it's really good for people of all ages to watch it.
03:57 And how does it make you feel when you see Barbie?
04:00 It brings back loads of memories, I loved Barbie as a kid, I love everything pink. So yeah I can't wait to see it.
04:07 Hiya I'm Vicky from the Ketchup Girls in Blind Lane, Silksworth.
04:11 This is the Barbie themed sweet box, I Deletate the Cinema, with Barbie just being released this week.
04:17 Obviously all the sweets in are pink and you get your pink tissue paper and we close the box off and wrap it off with pink ribbon.
04:25 Right we have your pink chocolate love heart, we have your strawberry dreams, we have your pink shrimps and your foam flowers, we have your pink fishes and your pink pandas.
04:37 You can have everything what's in the box or you can mix and match if you want to go blues and pinks because obviously Ken's also in the movie.

05:01 My name's Katie and I'm from Lincolnshire.
05:04 So I first started collecting pink items from a really young age, my parents always dressed me in pink.
05:11 And then I kind of stopped wearing pink for a little bit as I was a teenager and then very slowly it started to add back up in my wardrobe and now it's a full on addiction.
05:21 [PAUSE]
05:30 Every time I see pink it's like my eyes just get drawn to it, whether I'm shopping or anything I can be doing if I see pink, my eyes are completely drawn to it.
05:40 [PAUSE]
06:07 So a lot of my clothing is inspired by dolls or celebrities like Jasmine Bean or Melanie Martinez, a lot of it is inspired by princesses or things from my childhood growing up.
06:19 [PAUSE]
06:36 A lot of people's reaction when they see me out wearing a lot of pink is that it's just me.
06:41 I think a lot of people that know me expect me to always be dressed this way.
06:45 And I think people that don't know me can be a bit shocked, but I think everyone likes it.
06:50 [PAUSE]
07:15 I mainly use TikTok and I create a lot of fashion videos and videos revolving pink, whether it be hauls or styling videos and sometimes sewing videos as well of me making my own clothes.
07:28 [PAUSE]
07:42 I think a lot of people love my style. A lot of people have told me that I've inspired them to wear a lot of pink and I've inspired them to kind of go more out there with their fashion.
07:51 And it's really nice to see that a lot of people do love it.
07:54 I'd love for my collection to get even bigger. I'd love more shoes, more bags, more clothes, the more the better.
08:01 [PAUSE]
08:12 I think I love, especially when I go outside, I love knowing that no one else is going to be dressed like me and kind of people are going to look at me for what I'm wearing and I get to be a new person when I wear it.
