00:00 Some have been waiting for 18 months for the opening of the Lidl supermarket here on the heights of Jacar in Saint-Etienne.
00:08 The first customers, most of them riverians, were there from dawn this morning to not miss the opening at 8.30 am.
00:15 I was there at 7.30 am. I didn't want to miss it. Yes, exactly.
00:19 I was the first, I wanted something. I had spotted a multifunction tool on the catalog for the garden.
00:28 And from the start, the forty employees and the staff of the regional group, who came to lend a helping hand,
00:33 form a wave of honour to welcome the first customers.
00:36 Bravo!
00:38 Because this 19th of July is a big day for the German distributor.
00:45 The work took more time than expected, extending over 18 months instead of 12 initially because of the crisis.
00:51 The result? A double surface, 1,400 square metres, with the latest technology.
00:58 We are on a much more demanding load list.
01:01 We saw the wood frame earlier.
01:04 We are on a very important photovoltaic surface in roof.
01:08 The idea is to cover the roof of the photovoltaic panels as much as possible.
01:11 These are drainage slabs on the parking spaces outside, to let the water flow to the maximum.
01:17 It is an adaptive lighting, depending on the customers, whether there is a presence in the supermarket or not.
01:22 Today, we have our part to play as a major distributor on a national, but also international and even global scale,
01:28 to create more and more optimised supermarkets.
01:31 A last-call shop that cost nearly 12 million euros.
01:34 And it is not really a coincidence that the distributor chose Saint-Etienne.
01:38 Saint-Etienne today is a metropolis that is developing a lot, on which we are quite present,
01:42 and on which we also want to strengthen our brand image.
01:45 And it is working, thanks to the new customers who complained this morning.
01:49 I think it is good. They have made a big game.
01:52 There are a lot of employees, a lot of people.
01:55 I hope it will last in time.
01:58 But it is very good. It is very beautiful. It is brand new. It is nice.
02:02 It changes our lives in this way.
02:04 We have everything under our control, close to home.
02:07 I live across the street. So it is ideal for me.
02:11 Finally, note that the parking area welcomes 96 seats, free for 1h30,
02:15 and exclusively reserved for the shop's customers.
