00:05 Hi, Smart Parenting fam!
00:07 Welcome to another episode of PopRika,
00:10 where we talk about anything and everything that's shaking in the parenting world.
00:14 Spiced by yours truly, Rika.
00:16 Okay, today, for our Smart Parenting moms and dads,
00:21 we'll answer all of your million-dollar questions.
00:24 Especially when July comes,
00:27 which is, "What should my child eat?"
00:31 You admit that, right? It's such a hard question, huh?
00:34 And you know, "baon" is not only just the food that they eat,
00:38 but it's also a way of introducing proper nutrition to our children
00:43 and also build healthy eating habits.
00:45 So today, we'll share what are our "baon" ideas that will be like that.
00:51 Which is healthy, will also give them an idea of what they're eating.
00:56 But I'm not gonna be alone in this,
00:59 because we're gonna be getting recipes from Yummy.ph.
01:03 And we're gonna call in the editor of Yummy.ph to help me with that,
01:06 Miss Georgia Un!
01:08 Hello!
01:08 Hello, Georgia!
01:10 Say hello to everyone.
01:11 Hello, SPFam!
01:12 Okay, Georgia, you're on.
01:15 Because I'm not really a kitchen goddess,
01:16 so you're gonna have to help me with this.
01:18 Sure, no problem.
01:19 But you're not gonna be the only one who's with me,
01:22 because I have my sous chef with me.
01:24 You have a sous chef, right?
01:25 A foodie himself!
01:27 No other than my firstborn master,
01:30 Philippe Refascio!
01:31 Hi! Hello!
01:33 My gosh, you know kids today are such...
01:37 They're foodies.
01:38 They know what is good,
01:40 but sometimes, what we don't know is what's nutritious for them.
01:47 So today, what's the first recipe that you're gonna share with us, Miss Georgia?
01:51 Okay, so today we have two recipes,
01:53 but we're gonna start off with mini fiesta frittatas.
01:56 Ooh, okay, so egg.
01:58 Eggs!
01:59 And eggs is known to be a very good source of protein, right?
02:02 So it's really very healthy.
02:04 Which I think it's perfect.
02:05 If you're not, you know, very handy in the kitchen,
02:08 frittatas are really easy to make.
02:10 Because you just have to mix it and then bake it.
02:12 That's it.
02:13 Here is what you'll need to make our mini fiesta frittatas.
02:20 Alright, so first we're going to crack the eggs.
02:23 Okay, you wanna show us how to...
02:25 Show, Philippe, actually.
02:27 How do you crack eggs?
02:28 So if you're teaching a child.
02:30 Alright, so normally, we try to do it here.
02:33 The best way, actually, is to do it on a flat surface.
02:37 Right, so very lightly, flat surface.
02:41 There, very lightly.
02:42 And then, we crack it into the bowl.
02:45 Ta-da!
02:46 There!
02:47 Okay, you wanna do it?
02:48 Try it.
02:50 Very light?
02:51 It's very light.
02:52 It's very light.
02:52 A little energy.
02:53 A little, a little.
02:54 Okay.
02:55 There, it's already a little bit.
02:56 Then you put your...
02:57 Open.
02:57 Okay, you kind of poke it with your finger.
02:59 Alright!
03:02 We got most of it in.
03:03 That's okay.
03:04 I really love cooking as an activity with kids.
03:08 Yeah, you put it in.
03:09 Yeah, okay, put it there now.
03:10 It's okay.
03:10 Yeah, I love this because when you cook with your kids,
03:14 first of all, they see what goes into their food.
03:16 Right?
03:17 And then second is, even their...
03:19 Like, what do you call that again?
03:22 Fine motor skills are being developed.
03:25 Oh, alright.
03:27 By the way guys, you know, every year,
03:30 the nutrition month is observed so we could know that
03:35 food is the first line of defense when it comes to illnesses.
03:37 Alright!
03:38 Next, we're going to whisk the eggs.
03:41 Okay, there.
03:42 Go, let's see.
03:44 So you crack the eggs.
03:46 You can help us also, Miss Georgia.
03:49 What's the right way to whisk it?
03:50 This is the best part.
03:51 You crack the yolks.
03:52 There.
03:53 There.
03:54 Go.
03:55 Crack all the yolks.
03:56 There.
03:57 There.
03:58 There.
03:59 Okay.
04:00 So, we're done with this.
04:02 That's done.
04:03 What's our next step?
04:04 Our next step is, we're going to add all of the other ingredients.
04:08 [Music]
04:24 Okay.
04:25 And then, we mix it with this.
04:27 Yes.
04:28 I'll do it.
04:29 Very simple.
04:30 Right?
04:31 It's like I'm doing something.
04:33 It's like I'm not just wearing an athlete's shirt.
04:36 I'm also a cook at times.
04:38 Alright.
04:39 So, is this okay now?
04:40 Yes, it's perfect.
04:41 Alright.
04:42 Now, we're going to put some cupcake liners.
04:43 Oh, I have an egg.
04:44 You want to help?
04:45 Yeah.
04:46 Miss Georgia.
04:47 I think you can do that.
04:48 Put cupcake liners.
04:49 Alright.
04:50 Here.
04:51 We're making healthy cupcakes, right?
04:53 Yes.
04:54 You know, there's a whole lot of fun in making healthy food also.
04:57 I thought people are healthy.
04:59 Courtney, right?
05:00 That's true.
05:01 And it's not just healthy food.
05:03 Some kids think of healthy, they think of it as vegetables.
05:07 It's true.
05:09 But you know what the secret is, Phillip?
05:11 You can make vegetables very, very delicious.
05:14 Yeah, that's true.
05:15 Actually, vegetables are the secret.
05:18 Herbs, vegetables are the secret.
05:20 I like herbs.
05:21 That's the only secret.
05:22 It's the only secret.
05:23 Yeah.
05:24 Okay.
05:25 So, now we're going to pour it.
05:26 You know, Miss Georgia, I think also when you're a mom,
05:31 that's when you start being more mindful.
05:34 Not only mom, but when you get older.
05:37 Because when you're like this age, you're not really thinking of your health too much.
05:41 But then when you get older, you know that your body is not as young anymore, right?
05:46 So, that's when you really focus on healthy habits,
05:51 not just exercise, but even in your healthy diet.
05:55 That's true.
05:56 And for me personally, when I started having kids,
06:00 that's when I thought that for yourself, you're not really thinking about what you're eating.
06:05 And then when you have two little ones before you, and you're thinking,
06:10 "How will they grow?"
06:11 That's when you really think, "Oh my gosh, what's my diet and what?"
06:15 That's true.
06:16 I feel the same way even though I don't have kids.
06:18 I think a lot more about what I'm cooking when I'm cooking for other people.
06:23 Because when I'm okay, I'll do it.
06:26 I think that's it.
06:27 I think when you're doing it for other people.
06:29 You cook this for your dogs?
06:30 You know what? That's a very good idea.
06:32 What did you say?
06:33 Do I cook this for my dogs?
06:34 I could cook this for my dogs.
06:36 Can they have it?
06:37 Yeah.
06:38 What are you going to take out?
06:39 I would take out the red bell pepper.
06:41 Okay, the red bell pepper is toxic for your dogs.
06:44 The ham, I would probably switch out the ham for chicken.
06:48 Because my dogs like chicken.
06:50 You should invite us when you're doing dog recipes.
06:53 You know what? I would love to.
06:55 Because I love watching dog recipes on TikTok.
07:00 Should we fill it up or not?
07:03 No, don't fill it up.
07:04 So we just want it like this.
07:06 So when it bakes, 3/4 full.
07:09 How long are we going to have to bake this?
07:11 We're going to bake it for 10 to 12 minutes.
07:13 I thought you would swap out the cheese for your dogs.
07:16 No.
07:17 Dogs love cheese.
07:18 Dogs love cheese.
07:20 Okay, so this is 10 to 15 minutes, correct?
07:22 12.
07:23 12 minutes.
07:24 You can go over if you feel like it's not yet done.
07:26 But you'll know because they'll puff up.
07:28 Okay, so we can put it in the oven.
07:30 Alright, let's put it in.
07:31 Yes, let's go.
07:32 And while we're waiting for that,
07:40 to our SP moms and dads out there,
07:42 who among you has a picky eater?
07:44 Because I think all of us have gone through that.
07:47 So we really need creative ways to give food to our children.
07:51 And you know, one of the most creative ways that have been
07:54 well, discovered, not invented in the past few years
07:57 is to sell food.
