Making pita bread at home is easier than you think. With only a handful of ingredients, you can make your own delicious pita bread in the comfort of your own kitchen.

Here’s what you’ll need:

-A bowl
-A baking sheet
-Parchment paper
-Whole wheat flour
-Yeast
-Sugar
-Salt
-Water

Begin by whisking together your dry ingredients – 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 2 teaspoons of yeast, 4 teaspoons of sugar, and a teaspoon of salt.

Add 1 and 3/4 cups of warmed water to the bowl and mix until you have a dough that is soft and slightly sticky. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 to 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Place it back in the bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel to let it rise for an hour.

Once the dough has doubled in size, you can begin to roll it out. Divide it into 8 equal pieces and roll them out into ¼ inch thick circles. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the rolled out dough circles on the baking sheet, and let them rest for 10 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the pitas for about 4 minutes, until they are lightly browned. Allow the pitas to cool before serving.

You can enjoy your homemade pitas with a variety of dips, spreads, and toppings. Enjoy!
