Dagu Glacier is among China’s top sightseeing spots. But climate change has been shrinking the glacier by two-thirds since the 1970s. A team of Chinese scientists has come up with a stop-gap measure to slow the process by covering the glaciers with a co-called giant blanket or geotextile. Made of cellulose, the blanket shields the glacier from rising temperatures, in the hopes of buying time until the world could agree on a concerted solution to address climate change.
