Quezon City village relies on renewable energy for electricity

About 600 informal settlers of Sitio Bakal in Barangay Silangan in Quezon City have been living for more than 20 years without electricity but have managed to put light into their lives by connecting makeshift bulbs to renewable sources of energy like solar panels and batteries with the help of the local government and non government organizations, said Barangay Captain Willy Cara. A right of way issue has delayed the installation of electricity in the area although the case is now under litigation.
