00:21 Um, I guess everyone knows that I'm Allison Baby.

00:30 I'm a junior at UCLA. Um, as we all know, this past October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
00:37 Um, it turns out on October 2nd of 2009, I found out that my mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
00:45 So, every October is like that reminder. So, everyone's wearing pink, like in the NFL, they're all wearing pink.
00:53 So, I was like, "Let's do a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser." And, why not?
00:58 So, with any diagnosis any cancer patient goes through, no one realizes exactly what they do at that point.
01:04 All I can do is support and say, "I love you too, and I'll see you again."
01:08 Unfortunately, many of us in this room today have been touched by cancer, through family, friends, and even themselves.
01:15 That's why these past few months, I decided to start a fundraiser in Michigan and UCLA.
01:19 It includes long nights, making pink ribbons all by hand, posting a lot of flyers, getting the girls on your team pink shoelaces.

01:31 Um, we do one of them every single day in October. Um, and then it also includes a lot of banking, which all of you ask me every single day.
01:39 "Is there any more cupcakes? Is there any more brownies?" And I appreciate that so much.
01:44 Um, everything was sold for a dollar, and I'm proud to stand here before you today and say that we were able to raise $1,250.

02:02 So, with that, we were able to, um, go beyond our goal of a thousand dollars.
02:07 And from this, I'll be shaving my head in front of you today.

02:15 Um, my hair will actually be worth more than just putting it in a ponytail every day.
02:20 We'll go to someone, it'll be donated to Wax and Blot, which makes, it makes your hair into a wig for a child with cancer.
02:28 Who is, like, we don't have hair. So I thought if I were to donate my hair, it would, like, provide a kid with security.
02:35 No more insecurities. It just, it's a great thing. So, um.
02:39 Um, I'm honored to turn, to be able to turn all this into something positive for cancer patients around the world.
02:48 It's been a journey. Everybody working together to kill cancer, and we've taken the first steps and we're doing that this month.
02:53 I lastly want to say, I'm just glad, like, what I did say and what I did do really meant a lot to everyone.
