London headlines 26th May: Man arrested after car crashed into gates at Downing Street

One person has been arrested after a car was crashed into the gates of Downing Street, the met police has confirmed. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was reported to be at number ten at the time of the incident, which is not being treated as terror related, but no one was hurt.

Next - Just Stop Oil activists have protested at yet another high profile event by throwing orange paint over a garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. Police arrested three people on suspicion of criminal damage. The organisation confirmed that three women from the group had thrown paint over the RBC Dolphin Garden, which was designed by Paul Hervey-Brookes, at around 9am on Thursday.

And last - Venues across the City of London were hit by strikes as workers walked out, calling for a fair pay deal. GMB union members last month rejected a pay offer and instead took part in a twenty four hour strike on the twenty fifth of May, hitting attractions including the Barbican, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Smithfield Market, Tower Bridge and the Old Bailey.
