00:00 These people are two-time refugees.
00:03 They'd fled to Sudan from South Sudan to escape the conflict.
00:06 Now tens of thousands have crossed back since fighting broke out in Khartoum five weeks
00:11 ago.
00:12 Here, new arrivals are provided with food, water and other basics.
00:17 But the new emergency is straining already overstretched resources in a country still
00:22 reeling from civil war.
00:24 "We don't have tents and are forced to reside in an open space.
00:28 If this situation continues for a month, many children are likely to suffer from malnutrition."
00:33 It's a similar story in Chad, where up to 90,000 Sudanese have fled, adding to the 600,000
00:41 refugees that Chad was already struggling to host.
00:44 "The suffering is endless.
00:47 The situation stabilises, we'll return to Sudan.
00:49 But if the insecurity lasts, we'll have to try and rebuild our lives here."
00:56 Meanwhile more than 840,000 people are displaced inside Sudan.
01:02 And the UN says 25 million, more than half the country's population, need humanitarian
01:07 aid.
01:08 Efforts though are being impaired by the ongoing insecurity.
01:12 "UN premises and residences, including the UNITAM's compound, as well as large amounts
01:16 of food and humanitarian supplies have also been looted.
01:21 Criminality is compounded by the release of thousands of prisoners and the increasing
01:25 spread of small arms."
01:28 As the crisis spreads across the region, the US says it's committing $50 million to address
01:34 needs inside Sudan, as well as $22 million for South Sudan, $17 million for Chad and
01:40 $6 million for Egypt.
01:42 The latter has so far received the highest number of Sudanese refugees, around 110,000,
01:48 with the pace of arrivals increasing in recent weeks.
