00:00 Hi guys, I've had so many requests to do a Olivia Palermo makeup tutorial
00:05 and I absolutely love her so of course I want to do it
00:08 but it was actually one of my first makeup tutorials I ever did
00:12 and so I thought should I do it again?
00:15 And then I thought yeah I probably should because it was about two years ago
00:18 and so I clicked and looked at my old video on my computer
00:21 and the highest rated comment on it was saying
00:25 "Please redo this video" in capital letters.
00:27 I can't remember the girl's name who wrote it
00:29 but she was like "Please redo this video with your new HD camera"
00:32 so I thought oh that's why they want me to redo it
00:35 because it was in really bad quality before
00:37 so I'm going to do it now and I thought it would be a bit of a waste
00:40 to do the exact same Olivia Palermo look.
00:43 I typed in Olivia Palermo style into YouTube and this random video came up
00:47 I'll link it in the description box
00:49 and about 44 seconds in there's her kind of looking at some clothes with a ponytail
00:55 and she's wearing her classic kind of eye makeup, brows and quite classic skin
00:59 but then she has a slightly more rosier blusher on than usual
01:02 and kind of a rosy natural stain on the lips
01:04 so it's kind of a way to make your makeup a little bit more rosy blush, pinky
01:09 without going over the top as Olivia Palermo always has that kind of classic
01:13 natural beautiful look.
01:15 So that's the look I'm going to do so if you want to look at the reference to it
01:20 then I'll put it in the description box and it's about 44 seconds in.
01:22 I had makeup on earlier and I've just taken it off to film this video
01:26 and I need to moisturise my skin so I'm going to use my Jo Malone
01:29 what's this called the Vitamin E Moisturising Day Cream
01:32 because I got this yesterday and haven't used it yet at all.
01:35 It's a completely brand new pot.
01:37 Oh I thought it was going to be thicker than that.
01:39 I thought it was going to be like the 8 Hour Cream moisturiser
01:42 but I'm actually really glad it's not.
01:44 It feels surprisingly light but really moisturising.
01:48 It smells good too.
01:51 I'll let you know on Twitter, I always write about products I'm loving on Twitter
01:55 in by tomorrow what I thought of this moisturiser today
01:59 and then kind of over time I'll also do a little review on it probably
02:02 because you can't really review a moisturiser in one day
02:05 but I just thought I'd give you guys first impressions.
02:07 My face feels quite tacky but I quite like that.
02:11 Okay I'm starting with Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua Foundation in the colour B30 Beige
02:17 and I'm going to use, I actually have a Chanel foundation brush for it.
02:21 Not that it probably makes any difference which foundation brush you use.
02:24 I'm just going to squeeze some onto the back of my hand.
02:27 I love Vita Lumiere Aqua a lot but you have to shake it up before you use it.
02:35 This foundation doesn't have massive amounts of coverage
02:37 but it kind of makes your skin just look like your skin but really perfected
02:42 and that's really how Olivia's makeup looks.
02:44 She doesn't look like she's caked it on but she definitely wouldn't leave the house
02:48 without makeup.
02:48 She's one of those girls who has to make sure she's looking perfect at all times.
02:52 Usually I would do my concealer after I've done the eye makeup
02:56 because of it falling down onto my face
03:00 but as it's going to be really natural eye makeup I'm going to do concealer first today.
03:03 I'm using Studio Sculpt Concealer from MAC
03:06 which a few people have told me on Twitter that MAC are discontinuing it.
03:11 I was just absolutely devastated.
03:14 I haven't looked into it myself on the MAC website or been into a MAC shop to ask them
03:19 but I could not believe it
03:21 and if they do discontinue it I'm going to campaign against it.
03:25 I don't know how much one little person would help
03:29 but I'll be so upset if this is gone, really really upset.
03:32 Anyway, I'm going to use this underneath my eyes.
03:36 Olivia's eyebrows are just so beautiful.
03:40 Olivia's eyebrows are just polished and perfected, nothing too heavy.
03:45 So I'm just going to start kind of making a little bit more of an arch in my brow
03:50 by just lifting it here.
03:51 Just going up a little bit there.
03:56 Oh and I'm using my classic charcoal brown eyeshadow from MAC, this is what I always use.
04:03 And her eyeshadows are always quite matte and always really perfect looking
04:09 and to get that kind of perfect underneath the powder look
04:13 you really do need a nice matte primer.
04:15 Now I love Painterly Paint Pot by MAC
04:18 but I just went to use it and it had shrunk into a tiny little bit inside the glass jar
04:22 because annoyingly the MAC Paint Pot lids are so thin
04:26 and it's just so easy to get it on your eyes.
04:28 So I'm just going to use that to get that perfect look.
04:30 But annoyingly the MAC Paint Pot lids, they don't really close properly and they come undone
04:35 and so it is a complete waste now and I had to throw it in the bin.
04:38 So I'm using Idun Urban Decay Primer Potion which I do really like as well.
04:42 And you need the tiniest amount of this.
04:46 So I just get a little bit on my finger and then just dab them together
04:51 and that's enough for both eyes, it's probably too much if anything.
04:54 And then just literally dab it on.
04:57 I definitely don't need all that.
04:58 Then use a clean finger just to blend it in.
05:01 Next I'm going to take Brûlée Eyeshadow from MAC
05:05 and this bit of the eye makeup is going to be very similar to my last Olivia Palermo video
05:10 but you all wanted to see it in HD so I guess it will still be useful for you.
05:14 And I'm going to use a nice big brush to get this all over the lid and over the brow bone.
05:18 The 227 by MAC.
05:20 I pretty much only ever use this brush for doing this
05:23 because it's so great at getting,
05:25 packing on an eyeshadow like Brûlée when you want to get it all the way up to the brow.
05:30 Next I'm going to go back to Charcoal Brown Eyeshadow from MAC.
05:34 If you're looking to invest in some MAC eyeshadows,
05:36 I'd say this is a really fantastic one to get
05:39 if you have the same kind of hair colour and skin tone as me
05:41 as it works really well as an eye kind of contour for me and as a brow colour.
05:45 So I'm just getting this onto the MAC 217 like this.
05:50 And then as you can see my crease is here.
05:53 I'm just going to put the brush, sit the brush in there
05:56 kind of do a windscreen wiper motion from through like that.
06:03 I'm using a really light hand with this
06:06 because I don't want it to be like a cut crease look.
06:08 It's just a little bit of definition through the crease.
06:12 And again this is a matte colour.
06:15 Don't use shimmer for trying to do a shadow.
06:19 Okay now just take a tiny bit of the Charcoal Brown colour again
06:22 on the brow brush that we used, the angled brush.
06:24 And just take this under the eye a little bit.
06:28 Literally the tiniest amounts, not heavy under the eye makeup at all.
06:34 Next I'm using a small eyeliner brush from Sigma.
06:37 Any eyeliner brush will do.
06:38 And I'm using my Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner
06:41 and this is key to Olivia's look.
06:42 You want to do a really fine line close to the lashes.
06:48 Getting very slightly thicker towards the edge here.
06:54 So there's no flick there, it just kind of goes out the edge and gets thicker.
07:03 And that's how she wears her eyeliner.
07:04 Curl your eyelashes.
07:06 I'm using, what am I using?
07:07 Shu Uemura eyelash curlers.
07:09 These are the ones that I use every day.
07:16 I'm then going to use Avon Spectra Lash.
07:18 This is a really good mascara.
07:20 It has a little dial along the bottom
07:21 so that you can choose number one for really natural lashes,
07:24 number two for like medium lashes,
07:26 and number three for big lashes.
07:28 I always wear it on number three because I like a lot of mascara
07:31 and I hate kind of wimpy eyelashes.
07:33 Next I'm going to make the skin look even more perfect
07:45 by using the MAC Mineralised Skin Finish Natural Powder.
07:48 I actually used this in my last Olivia Palermo tutorial.
07:51 I really loved the effect it gave.
07:53 This is the colour Medium and I just kind of get a little bit on the brush
07:56 and buff it around the skin.
07:59 So her skin is kind of natural looking and definitely glowy along the cheeks
08:09 but it's definitely not dewy all over.
08:12 She really looks kind of office ready and not really kind of beachy, natural dewy.
08:18 That's really not her look.
08:19 So just powder through the centre of the face.
08:25 I'm then going to use Hoola by Benefit, one of their box powders.
08:29 It's this one here.
08:32 This is kind of a really great, really non-orange toned bronzer.
08:37 I'm just using the same brush that I used for the powder
08:39 which is the MAC, the colour number's rubbed off,
08:42 but I think it's the MAC 129.
08:44 I'm just going to contour my cheekbones.
08:47 Her cheekbones are amazing.
08:48 And to do that I'm just buffing this bronzer
08:54 from kind of the top of my ear down towards the corner of my mouth.
08:58 So this is kind of classic Olivia Palermo makeup that she would wear every day.
09:04 She would just put on a natural lip gloss like I used in the last video that I did
09:08 which was the really bad quality one.
09:10 But in this little piece of video footage that I saw of her,
09:15 I think it was from the city,
09:17 she had these lovely rosy cheeks and kind of like a rosy stained lip.
09:21 And I've chosen to use MAC's Frankly Scarlet
09:23 and this looks like the most terrifying blusher you'll ever see.
09:27 But I just have to put it on and show you the effects you can get with it.
09:30 So I've just popped it onto a MAC 116 brush
09:33 which is a really nice size for blusher.
09:36 I'm then literally going to brush this off on my hand quite a lot.
09:40 And as you can see it goes on quite strong.
09:42 Now with what's left on the brush I'm going to achieve a rosy glow on my cheek.
09:46 Just smile a little bit.
09:47 When you get those kind of apples of your cheeks,
09:50 just very lightly go around on your cheek like that with it.
09:55 And you'd be surprised at what kind of a...
10:01 It's like you've been playing hockey outside on a cold day.
10:06 That's the kind of natural flush that it gives you.
10:09 So I just think that this blush is absolutely gorgeous.
10:13 And I love showing people it because when my friends come around
10:16 they might use my makeup and my makeup bag that I have in my bedroom.
10:19 And they'll be like, "Oh my God, this blush is so scary!"
10:23 And I'm like, "No, it's not. Look how great it can look."
10:26 Okay, for lips.
10:28 Now I really had to think about this because I needed kind of a pinky,
10:31 berry lip colour that wasn't, you know, like a posh lipstick finish.
10:37 And it wasn't like a glossy lip balm finish.
10:39 It was just going to look very, very natural like her lips were that colour.
10:43 And the best thing I found in my collection was this Clinique Chubby Stick.
10:46 I don't know if these were limited edition or if they're permanent.
10:48 If they're permanent I'll put a link in the description box to them.
10:51 And this is Super Strawberry, 07 is the colour.
10:55 I'm just going to go straight onto my lip with this.
10:58 And there's my finished look, guys. I really hope you like it.
11:01 It's just like a really great daytime makeup.
11:05 But Olivia wears this exact same makeup in the evening as well.
11:08 Well, on scenes of the TV show The City that she's in.
11:12 I've seen her wear this makeup in the evening too.
11:14 So it's a really versatile one and really easy to achieve.
11:18 But very kind of polished looking and transforming.
11:21 And I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:23 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:25 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:27 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:29 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:31 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:33 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:35 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:37 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:39 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:41 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:43 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:45 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:47 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
11:49 I'm going to put a little bit of this on my lips.
