00:02 Hi guys, I'm Tina from Makeup Wearables,
00:07 and today I'm partnering up with Claro
00:09 to show you how amazingly easy it is
00:11 to color your own hair at home to get my hair color.
00:15 This is going to be a two-part tutorial,
00:17 so to see the other video placed on the Claro's own channel,
00:20 you can go ahead and click on the link
00:22 in the info box at any time.
00:24 So let's check out my hair situation.
00:26 As you can see here, my natural hair color is very black,
00:30 and I have a lot of gray hair,
00:31 I mean a lot of grays at the sides,
00:34 and my ends are a lovely shade of brassy orange.
00:37 So I'm gonna target my roots first.
00:39 And in order to completely cover my very resistant grays
00:42 and to lighten and warm up my root color,
00:44 I'm gonna use the Claro's Expert Age Defy,
00:47 a permanent hair color in the shades six light brown
00:51 and five A, which is a medium ash brown.
00:54 So here's a quick rundown of what's inside the kit.
00:56 You'll find the instructions with the gloves inside of it.
00:59 (upbeat music)
01:01 A pre-treatment cream,
01:05 cream color and its activating formula,
01:07 and a Pro-V Color Seal conditioning therapy.
01:10 And before we start cooking,
01:11 I'm gonna nag at you because you have to do this step.
01:14 48 hours before you do any kind of hair coloring,
01:17 you have to do an allergy test.
01:19 Even if you've never had any problems before in the past,
01:21 your body is constantly changing, so you just never know.
01:24 You can do these behind your ear, behind your neck,
01:27 on your arms like I'm doing here.
01:29 So after reading the instructions,
01:31 we're gonna apply the step one,
01:32 which is the Age Defy Smoothing Pre-Treatment
01:35 to dry hair from roots to the ends.
01:38 I don't know if you guys are aware of this,
01:39 but when you get gray hair,
01:40 you don't just lose the pigmentation,
01:42 you also lose the quality of your hair.
01:45 So your hair becomes more dry, frizzy, brittle,
01:48 which leads to more split ends and just blondness.
01:50 And when you use hair color formulated for normal hair,
01:53 your gray hair looks like it's been colored,
01:56 badly colored, because other signs of aging still remains.
02:00 I love Age Defy and decided to go with this
02:02 because it fights seven signs of aging.
02:04 So my gray hair, once it's colored,
02:06 doesn't look like it's been colored gray.
02:08 It just looks like my hair 15 years ago.
02:10 Next, if you're new to hair coloring,
02:12 section out your hair into four like this.
02:14 Now we're gonna mix the colors.
02:17 You're supposed to use the whole tube of the color cream
02:20 with the activator, but since I'm mixing two colors here,
02:23 I'm only gonna use half of the tube from 6,
02:26 (upbeat music)
02:28 and half of the tube from 5A.
02:33 (upbeat music)
02:35 Cut off the top of the activator,
02:39 then place your finger over the tip and mix thoroughly.
02:42 I'm gonna start applying from the front.
02:45 Lay a thin line of color on your part
02:47 and then spread the color with your finger.
02:50 Since I'm doing a root application here
02:51 and I don't have a lot of regrowth on the crown,
02:54 I'm simply running my index finger
02:55 across the part to spread the color
02:57 so that I'm not overlapping too much
02:59 with the parts that were previously colored.
03:01 I'm making my sections with the tip of the applicator
03:04 without squeezing the bottle.
03:05 And my sections are becoming thinner
03:07 as I get closer to the areas where I have a lot of grays
03:09 because you need to make sure those areas
03:12 are completely saturated with color.
03:14 So the way I color my hair is by doing the back
03:16 every three months and the front and the sides
03:18 every four to six weeks,
03:20 and in between those four to six weeks,
03:22 I have to use something else to keep my grays covered
03:24 because it just goes out of control,
03:26 which I'm gonna show you in another tutorial.
03:28 I also have to show you guys how to highlight
03:30 and unbraid your own hair at home,
03:32 which I'm gonna get around to doing
03:34 when I need my own hair colored, I mean bleached,
03:36 because I don't want to go and bleach the hair
03:39 that's already been bleached and damage my hair even further.
03:41 (upbeat music)
03:45 (singing in foreign language)
03:49 (upbeat music)
04:17 All right, so now we're gonna set the timer for 20 minutes,
04:19 then clean up the skin if you want to.
04:21 If you think I look like a mess now,
04:23 just wait until you see the second video.
04:25 And then after 20 minutes,
04:27 I'm gonna apply a cheap conditioner
04:29 that I buy from a dollar store all over my ends
04:31 to protect it from the dark dye.
04:33 So while the color is processing for the last five minutes,
04:36 we can take care of the stains on our skin.
04:39 We're gonna use the hair color we just used on our head
04:41 on the stains and rub it into the skin.
04:44 After a minute, we're gonna remove the color
04:46 with a paper towel to check to see
04:48 if the stains are still there.
04:50 If you still see them,
04:51 we're gonna repeat until it's all gone.
04:53 I'm not gonna take you guys into my bathroom,
04:56 but watch me here.
04:57 I'm gonna use the strongest water pressure in my house
05:00 to rinse this off, but I'm gonna lift my ends up like this
05:03 while I rinse off the color
05:05 so that the dark dye does not get on my highlights.
05:08 So once you've washed everything off,
05:10 you can come right back so we can do the step three.
05:14 Now, after towel drying your hair,
05:15 we're gonna apply some of the Pro V Color Seal
05:17 conditioning therapy all over the hair
05:20 to help lock in the color
05:21 and to keep our hair soft and shiny.
05:23 You should not skip this step
05:25 because it's amazing, amazing conditioner,
05:27 and you should leave it in your hair
05:28 for at least two minutes.
05:30 All right, guys, we're done with part one.
